I expect romances with major NPCs will probably become standard from here on out. It didn't work as well with Steve and Samantha because there wasn't as much effort put in and those two were at a disadvantage of only having one game to develop unlike everyone else, but Cullen and Josephine's romances were just as well integrated as the other romances, in my opinion. So I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with the pilot, doctor, engineer, or yeoman as a LI.

I'd like a pilot...as long as there aren't sexbots in sight  <_<

Would explain why I didn't know who that was then, don't watch Game of Thrones. Thank you for the clarification. Google decided to strike on my computer or something weird couldn't get anything but a blank space for a while.

I'd be down for a woman pilot if we're throwing out random wishes.

I'm game too - female pilot and male yeoman would be a nice change.

I wouldn't have a problem with a female pilot.

I would like to have a cook, like Rupert Gardner, to make calamari gumbo

I'd like to see them play around with the genders a bit, but I don't want them to fall into the trap of just gender swapping all of the characters:

* Female Pilot (i.e Female Joker/Steve!)

* Male Yeoman (i.e Male Kelly/Samantha!)

* Male Doctor (i.e Male Dr. Chakwas/Dr. Michel!)

It would feel a little bit like they were trying to do that.  It would be cool to see some of them mixed up, but not necessarily all of them "just because".

That being said, I'd be interested in seeing the female pilot and male yeoman, in particular.  I think that those could be cool characters.  Female pilot who is determined to prove herself.  Maybe she's a bit reckless and brazen?  Male yeoman who's younger and is using this position to see the world.  He isn't quite sure about his path in life and this opportunity allows him to get a variety of experiences?  Plus, can we please not make his LGBT?  If he is, it would make 3/3 LGBT yeoman.

Was Samantha actually a yeoman? I thought she was supposed to be EWAR / Comms / misc techy person but that doubled up as the person who read your emails.

I thought the yeoman thing was a little silly on a ship that size, but then I don't have a clue what most of the crew are there for other than being collector bait.

I was thinking more ace and less damsel, but yeah sure.

Yeah, I realized it as I was writing it!  It would probably be too tempting for Bioware not to make a young male yeoman either gay/bisexual and also thin (i.e. twink).  It would be like suggesting that a character is getting over a major a loss and then Bioware not making that loss be the death of a spouse..... ;)

You know... back in the old days... when I still played MMORPGs, we called our alts "twinks". I wonder what changed. ^^

I would like to see male Yeoman but I would like him to be a little bit older. I guess I would want him to be like a therapist and my PC could go to him and ask advices and he would help and listen to my PC's worries.

EDIT: and of course I would want him to be a romance option.

You know, if there's one thing a BioWare PC needs, it's a good shrink.  I like this idea.

As long as the shrink is competent, invokes trust and is nothing like Kelly Chambers and has none of her... unprofessional "observations", I can get onboard with the idea.

Heh, I'd at least prefer having more than one or two companions/squadmates asking if my character is okay as a start.  DA:I has been the best so far because three companions outside of the LI (Cass, Varric and Vivi) will actually ask how you're holding up during various points of the game.  Most of the time though, my character doesn't even have that.  My impression of a lot of the lack of support from the LI goes like this:

Warden: "I lost my whole family in a vicious attack."

Alistair: "Yes, I know what you mean.  With Duncan..."

Me: Really game?  I'm used to playing Therapist Hero, but my characters usually have a less tragic history than even that.   <_<

Why do we need a yeoman? Couldn't the ship's VI handle that?

We've also been talking about a therapist too, something a VI probably wouldn't be able to handle so well.  Unless they create a PTSD robot.  This is the ME series, so anything is possible.  :P

I think the idea of a psychiatric VI is intriguing. It would always remain professional, and there would be no value judgement, just logical conclusions reached. It would be a spiritual successor to what legion could have been post ME2

I think the idea of the pilot and the doctor potentially having romance arcs is pretty intriguing.

I liked the bald doc in ME3 that treated Kaidan/Ashley. He should be brought back!

ETA: Or, did he treat Thane? Can't remember.

No! We need a yeoman because he could be a hot guy that would listen to my PC's problems and then of course he would fell in love with my PC because she/he is so awesome. :)

I'm sorry the discussion seems like a problematic distraction for you, but I wonder if you apply to the same rules to discussing the game--or video games-- in general? Because what this sounds like is the fallacy of relative privation, or appealing to bigger problems. I.E. "There are greater issues to address in the world so why are we wasting our time on this little one?"

Yeah, this argument is usually trotted out when someone wants you to shut up about whatever you are currently discussing. It assumes that people can't care about more than one thing at a time. I've heard it used when discussing animal welfare. Someone comes in and cries, but what about the humanz! Same thing happens when talking about women's issues (what about the men) or racism (what about the whites) and so on. It's a bad argument.
