Or... radical idea... the entire ship wants to bang. Casual flings left and right. Everyone on board is doing it with everybody else. Far in the future it is no big deal anymore.

Indeed - I don't get why humanity as a whole (well: in western countries) went back to repressing sexuality after the sexual liberation in the 60's and 70's...I'd hope we could throw those damned shackles off (after all it seems like humanity in Mass Effect has more or less liberated themselves from religion (Ashley seems the only religious character on the Normandy and people seem to think she's strange!), which is what keeps the shackles in place IMHO!)

greetings LAX

ps: I'd like the option to go deeper (meaning you get the option to play a real playboy as well as a more usual person :)

Set yourself free, developers.

Give in to the temptation, and let go. See what happens. Let the world see that BioWare can make a romance-free game without it having any significant impact on its success.

Free yourself from the resources needed to do all the extra voicover and writing.

Free yourself from the inescapable rage backlash over every romance detail.

Developers, set yourselves free.

Don't do kids then. Please.

Well, I wouldn't got quite as far as that, I wouldn't want to turn ME:A into Leisure Suit Larry. ;)

But... something similiar to Starship Troopers would work for me.

I'm pretty sure they weren't going to. One would wonder why you would even bring it up.

Hah, I'd definitely go for that Starship Troopers vibe. Have our PC start out at boot camp to boot.

The book, the show, or the movies? There are big differences between the three.

Mostly the movie, I think.

AIDS happened. Freaked alot of ppl out. Well, in Western countries, that is.

As far as being a playboy, I think BW does not do that simply because it might require more resources than what they want to invest in romances. The romances, though I think at least the sex scenes have improved--DAI, not goofy underwear stuff and unique to the characters, are pretty standard fare.

BW does not go into complexities of romantic relationships too much. They lock you into monogamy because it's easier for them.

Well, seems like I really need to play Leisure Suit Larry - I never have but people quote it quite often ;) (still: Romance and sex is a part of everyday life, so why not fully include it instead of making not really making the effort (underpants sex I am looking at you!) or catering to prudes in a game for ADULTS who should know better anyway!)

Well yeah, let's remove one of the features that made Mass Effect big because of the fights they will create on BSN right? Because that's a hell of a problem.

Who cares! Don't you guys loved having romances in the past games? dafaq are you talking about

I would ask you on what basis you would claim to know that romances are a feature that made Mass Effect big, but I suspect it would be the same basis that you claim to know my reasoning for the OP.

I fully support this. For me, it would make a refreshing change in at least one game. The resources intended for romances could subsequently be used in other areas to add further polish to the overall package.

Every good movie has a romance. Romance is a must. Preferably something dramatic.

Did it make anyone else giggle that Cersei Lannister said this? XD

No, actually. Cersei has some of the most romantic dialogue on GOT, from telling Ned about how she and Jaime shared a womb together and belong together after coming into the world together, to her kneeling down to kiss Jaime's golden hand after saying she chooses him, her lover.

A Mass Effect game without romances certainly would be refreshing. It would also trim down the amount of useless romance threads we get every day on the BSN. So I'm in favor of no romances in ME:A.

I can't say that how weird or obnoxious threads might get on a game forum would affect how much I care for a certain feature in a game.

Personally I prefer the functional version of Cercei and Jaimie.

So far, they've been more successful at keeping their kids alive.

That it's a less an ideal relationship is a perk, not a con.
