Just as you say that I disregard what you say, you also ignore the bits of what I say to just use my words to fit your narrative the best. You completely ignored when I said that gay people can play gay characters WITH a gay love interest and not just a gay character.

*sigh*

Actually I didn't ignore that. I pointed out that it was a straw man to the subject at large. Or did you catch the part where I said "romances have nothing to do with whether you can play a gay character."

Also there is not accurate way of measuring what features of the game brought in how many people and how that translated into sales, at least not without some major statistics work done. But it has been stated on here and other forums that the availability of the romance options is one factor of why some people started playing the game.

So, do I have to explain the difference between statistical evidence and anecdotal evidence? Because otherwise this is a moot point.

And it seems you are trying to argue something with me that is purely in your mind

I assure you, this entire argument is purely in your mind.

I have never stated to put as many romances as they can quality control be damned. I said that it is completely lacking in logic to cut out the bit of the game that brings them free PR, good and bad, all of which raises the awareness of their product in people's minds. How many teenagers had no idea about the game before some of the tv channels started going on about how immoral the game was about portraying a sex scene between a woman and alien or man and alien. How many people looked into the game based on that? Impossible to say but I bet the figure was not 0.

What I said you shouldn't do was describe your arguments as logical. There are... lots of good reasons why I said that.

So since you seem to be doing exactly the same things you accuse me of doing doesn't that strike you as bit hypocritical?

Would you care to explain this, because I have no idea what you're talking about?

How about the following logical conclusion: BW is famous (compare to other story-telling RPG making companies) for inclusion of romances.

Well, the problem would be that it isn't a logical conclusion. But I suspect for reasons that you already know, I might be just a tiny bit tired of having to address the difference between what the word "logic" means and what a lot of people mistakenly seem to think the word "logic" means.

this entire post is an indication to me that you have missed every one of my points completely. this community would do well without the likes of you whose only respite in a place like this is to throw around fiery bitchy responses without actually understanding what you are responding to and without adding any thing to the discussion of the topic.

Gee, you're so nice and open-minded.

Nope, it turned out that I didn't have it in me. Too much booze. I will stop and return another day when I am more sober.

If I didn't end up with scars, I consider them nice.

It's interesting. I don't Know if I would be as much in love with BioWare games if there were no romances. I would still love their games, sure. Because I love play a female character, and is not so common having a female protagonist in videogames. Even rarer is having the chance to play a straight female protagonist with a romance subplot. Basically inexistant outside Visual novel/hybrid with Visual novel/point and clik adventures sometime, and if are there, more Times than not are f***d up relationships or condamned to a dramatic end.

It's not a big part of the game, and usually romance scene are just the normal frienship scenes plus some kisses and romantic dialogue. The romance scenes are few and small, so I hightly doubt not doing them would save much time for other stuff.
Yet is a mostly unique feature of BioWare games, and a quite liked one too. It would be silly drop them completely.
A Little romance add to the story and characters. That's why the mayority of movies and books have some romantic subplot. Is a little introspection of the characters and something that can enrich the story. Is true usually is not a necessity For the plot, but add a very pleasurable flavour to the story.

Just out of sheer curiosity but what's the argument against romance content? I'm not the biggest fan (I'd rather they be scrapped), but considering Bioware has incorporated this feature increasingly in every game, I'd say it's likely they either believe it to be profitable or it simply fits the kind of games they want to make.

Then kindly point me to one of your post where you already explained why the statement "BW is famous for inclusion of romances" or conclusion "cutting off an expected feature can harm game reputation" (not sure which one you find illogical) is not a "a logical conclusion".

Don't do Romances is a moot point, since Bio already announced ME:A will have romances.

Any future DA or ME games will include them because they have become a normal game feature

Well going by google's algorithims it clearly appears to be the case.  I used my work phone which I have never used for game related searches in the past, so it won't be affected by preferences, apart from region.

According to my virgin phone, here are google's top 3 autocomplete options for the following popular RPGs:

Oh, not only Bioware! I am not going to search all the topics in every upcoming RPG out there (though one of the first question about every game labeled as RPG - are there romances?). But here, read this:

CD Projekt Red Responds to Players Wanting More Romance

Since the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, players have been hoping to see more romance dialog with Triss and Yennifer with fans creating 933 page forum thread on the very subject. CD Projekt Red is responding to that wish in a future patch, according to a statement made to Kotaku.

“We’ll be adding some additional dialogue for Triss and Yennefer in the upcoming patch due to the fan feedback. We’ve read many opinions on our forums where gamers weren’t satisfied with the way their romance choices were fleshed out, so we wanted to change that by adding some extra conversational options.”

So, yes, sure, romances in RPG are totally unimportant and uninteresting feature only very minority of gamers care about :)

Yes, but fortunately this forum is full of amateur psychologists capable of diagnosing their condition.

Or maybe, and I'm just spitballing here, but maybe enjoyment of romance content is not inherently a sign of loneliness any more than enjoying video game combat is a sign of murderous instinct, or enjoying gory horror is a sign of sadism.

Actually, some people here that are against romances remind me of small kids that make faces at the simple thought of girls and kisses.

And how strange that romance has such a very long tradition in literature! Even while arranged marriage was the norm. One would think that it's part of the human condition or something crazy like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bethseda adds a romance element (or at the very least marriage with some of NPCs like in Skyrim) in Fallout 4

I believe they've confirmed that they will introduce a romance element in Fallout 4 involving followers.
