So ME:A should be exactly like the real life that people play games to escape from for a while? Cool.

Note to developers: please include spouse, kids, and mortgage in ME:A.

Biovar, pls.

I'm almost changing my mind again.

Everything sounds bad to me right now.

Ah, I see we've already resorted to insulting people who like things we don't like.  Stay classy, BSN.  Stay classy.

Well, it is one way to make sure other people know what one does and doesn't like. Insults = don't like, no insults = like. I assume that, over time, the internet will evolve to replace "like" buttons with "insult" buttons, that will generate amusing insults on people's behalf.

Tbh i'm sick of them beeing there just because. Do them well or don't do them at all. They should play a part in the story not just some obligatory fanservice/****** inspiration.

I wish romances would have a bigger impact on the story/gameplay. But romances like they are now are still much better than none at all if you ask me.

keep romances in, but dont have a million of them. 2-3 romancable characters is perfect. It makes them fleshed out, and allows more time on the rest of the game

Romances are optional. If you do not like them, just tell whoever the character is, no.

I would rather have romances than more useless side-quest that do little or nothing for the main story.

Forget playing errand boy, I would rather be serious with whatever hot girl walks on my ship. Call me captain kurk if you want.

I am fine with romances. What is wrong with them?

They feel artificial and the fan base is too obsessed with them.

When it rains, it pours.

The romances are nice, and add value, but I think BioWare would do themselves a favour by leaving them out for a game. For everything they add that is positive, they come with a great deal of negative baggage, as well. I'm reaching a point where I think the negative outweighs the positive, and it wouldn't hurt for the writers to take a step back and see what happens if they try a game without them.

Romances are a good thing, but I do think it'd be good for them to have fewer and then make each one more dynamic and equally enriching. You could do just 2 or 3 romances but if they were more complex with multiple ways to go about them then that would be better than just a static yay or nay romance checkmark.

All of them feel like they are there to satisfy the part of the fan base that will no doubt scream at the top of their lungs and throw a hissy fit should they not be included. Bioware are almost obligated to do it at this point.

Replace romances with casual sex? Maybe a Tali-Wrex threesome.

Drop them to 2, 3 at most for both genders and the entire game combined, then mix it with a crew of perhaps 10-12 squad members or so, could be interesting.

And in return for reducing the number, make those 2-3 actually relevant to the story, perhaps in a similar way the one with Bastila worked.

This. Bioware romances in their past few games felt like booty calls. If there's a love story in the game, it should be relevant to the plot.

Quality over quanity.

Some people like those characters quite a bit though. It's not a booty call if that's the case.

It's just a fault of the formula. The games aren't simulations. Or even like a novel. Just about everything is pretty brief and paraphrased in dialogue. Wars aren't resolved this way. Romances aren't. Politics aren't...

Except those conversations with Mordin. Bastard never shuts up. :P

Too late.  There a dev quote pretty much confirming romances (specifically alien romances) being included.

To be honest, I think the romances are worth it.  I know it can be an issue on BSN, but I'd hate to see them remove them altogether.  If they did a new IP, then I'd be cool with them not having them (although I'd be disappointed, to be honest).  I'd rather not see them remove them from already existing IPs.

I wouldn't mind them being removed, but I guess technically the only reason to remove them would be to avoid angry topics about romance options on the forums. I suppose when you look at the big picture, that a dumb/small reason to remove the romances. Not all BioWare fans use these forums. In fact, I wonder if most do.
