Are you...actually trying to zing me by suggesting that I'm not very nice?

What do you think? Do you think that you're nice, or only pretend to be?

I mean, I could maybe see that working if it actually came from someone who exemplified kindness themselves, but you...don't.

If s/he thinks you're mean or rude, they must not have been here long. You're one of the nicer people on the forums, in my opinion. Your bad days put some of my good days to shame.

Oh and Elcor, nice to see you around still. I've been reading the thread since I came back to the forums, and despite some of the unnecessary misreading of your posts by various forumites, you've stayed classy. :)

I usually pretend to be, because it's more profitable.

I usually pretend to be, because it's more profitable than not.

I'll admit that I'm guilty of this as well. Take for example, me pretending to be nice right now.   ;)

Right you are.

Your standards for internet politeness seem to be roughly as coherent as Tila Tequila on Benzedrine.

I usually don't put forth the effort to bother.

I either like and or respect you enough to tolerate inane viewpoints (aka anything that isn't what I believe)or I don't give the courtesy of my eye long.

o.o Course sometimes I pretend to be nice just to throw people off

I usually pretend that I am a vegetable that carelessly floats amongst th clouds.

Or that everyone on here are wearing giant socks on their head, lifts the mood quite a bit. :P

Edit: On* not om. It's bad when I sneak in Swedish words or Discworld gods in there.

Exactly! They don't create a character as a whole with romance from the beginning, they just add those romances later to please everybody. That is completely artificial.

And you think that all of the best-written characters in history were perfectly conceived in one go and had no additions made to their character later, do you?

Somehow, the idea that you believe you could have a romance with someone without interacting with them doesn't surprise me.

Lefty Palmer romance confirmed?

Well, if there's one thing that I've learned on the internet, it's that as soon as the self-proclaimed expert says "that's the end of the discussion" it never ever goes any further.

Irony detected.

Personally, I love those people, because they open themselves up to great mockery.

The trick is to call them out and bet that they'll respond again, even as you set up a passive-aggressive mockery that will trigger if they come back in. If they respond, it they walk into the insult and prove it true, ridiculing themselves. If they don't, instead of leaving with the last word they leave to mockery, and their refusal to come back comes across as fear of more of the same.

Either way, I win.

Of course, on the flip side, I always try to give a sincere farewell of respect to those who don't try to storm off with the last word.

@Elcor Nah, just stating the obvious. Besides, being classy isn't synonymous with being nice. :P
@Lady. You're welcome hun. It's just the truth.

We were off topic for about a page or so. Besides, did you really want to read another debate about the currency of marriage and sex (which as someone married for a decade I find utterly amusing) or about how if it isn't for some straight guys all the romance is "pandering?" Not saying you, and i'm not trying to put words into your posts that aren't there.

With the gif, I was just trying to lighten the mood some. It's not like romances are serious business, whether someone likes them or someone wants to have the writers stop creating them. Pixels kissing pixels aren't worth getting stressed about. ;)

To get this back on topic: As was pointed out, there would be fan outcry either way. Keep them and you can read the drama here and on places like Tumblr. If they removed them, especially from their existing IPs, there would still be drama no matter what. When it comes to a big fanbase like BioWare's, the devs and writers can't please everyone. I think that if they were going to have a game without romances, they would let us know well in advance. They wouldn't just take it out without letting the fans know imho. I would be mildly disappointed, but I'd go on with life.

More than the romances themselves, it's the conversations in threads like this that I find the most interesting. I've read a lot of pros and cons to romances. I personally enjoy talking about romances because there isn't a lot of companies that have interaction for romance decisions. Especially LGB+ characters and romances. I find that fasincating, and it's neat watching other companies start to try their own version of the "BioWare Romance."

My take has been and will be that I would like the romance content to continue in Mass Effect and Dragon Age. However, if they decided to forgo romances for whatever new IP David Gaider is helping lore-build, then it wouldn't bother me. I didn't play the BG series for the romances for the ladies, and excepting two sessions of HotU, I never did the romances in Neverwinter Nights either. I think that as long they continue to write characters like Dorian and Steve, gay men that aren't some sort of over-the-top sterotypes, then I'll be happy. The romance content is a nice bonus, but to me, it isn't the part that brings me back to the company time and time again. The friendships do though.

Despite the constant DLC issues that is. I've had problems with DLC from both the ME series and DA series. Nothing like a third party program in order to get the DLC I legally paid for to even work.

Romances are a role-playing choice, one which few RPGs allow you. Their games are better for having them.
