Yet another game from the Bioware games using that god awful engine for the sake of selling cheap dlc at a high price and not letting modder doing mods for their game just show how they do not like their customers and Dev.

UE3 didn't stop Bioware in making pricey dlcs. And neither DA's engine.
Bioware said their games will be developers in Frostbite from DAI to an undefinite time. Better getting used to it.

More or less every studio under EA is gonna be using this engine from now on. And why is this bad? It is a pretty solid engine. It has some compression issues and loading times. All of which can be fixed.

My issue would be because it's for the sake of selling cheap DLC at a high price to make more money and to not let modder doing armour for exemple because they know it would be better then what they did.

What does the engine have to do with the price of DLC's?

I don't understand that either. The DLC price follows the currency i guess or just what EA wants it to be. My head hurts!

What does the engine have to do with the price of DLC's?

The reason they chose this engine was because it VERY hard to make mods and content for modder so they could sell DLC so people would buy those DLC and not downloading mods for free that are pretty much all the time better.

Presumably, he means to say that the engine's ability to support mods effects the developer's ability to sell DLC. If the engine easily supports modding, like say Skyrim's, then players can get free extra content very easily. If the engine does not support them easily, then they'll have to buy DLC from the Dev to add variety to their game.

You can look at Mass Effect 2 and 3 and Dragon age Inquisition and you would see that people have a really hard time doing Mods on it and if you look at the list of DLC they made for those game and the price tag on them you would understand that it's for the sake of making more money off people.

No they chose this engine because Dice has used it for a long time and made it work really well. So instead of using their own engine when going into the future they went to someone that experience with next-gen and seeing as they are both inhouse studios, there is no fee to pay and they can get actual help on it.

Mass Effect series is on Unreal Engine, which is developed by Epic! Has nothing to do with Frostbite.

If it is about that, then do not expect that to change. EA is not really getting involved in modding, like ever. This would have happened on whatever engine they were using.

I know they didn't use Frostbite for those Mass Effect my point was that it was hard to make Mods for them too

Imagine that, EA wants Bioware to use the engine they spent all that money on. Sounds like good business sense to me, but hey let's all jump on the bash Bioware bandwagon. I mean it's not like there are worse companies out there... right?

Mods would stop people from buying DLC how?

Actually they've already stated they'd like to add mod support to it if possible, but if it happens it won't happen any time soon.

In another post some time ago by David Gaider he pointed out that mod support actually helps them sell DLC as it keeps the player engaged with the game and not moving on.

Financial reasons were why the FB was chosen, not to spite modders.

And just to avoid other potential confusion, I wholly support modding and would like to see it someday.

I suspect that companies will be taking a real good long look at what Bethesda does in relation to its FO4 modding scheme....

If the DLC is good, I'll buy it anyway with or without mod support. It's like an encore setlist from a good band I suppose.

The bioware mod movement died when the new engine was introduced. Sorry OP

I don't really think that its about that. It is more a side effect. I believe their main purpose behind this engine is that several studios in their network are all working off it for their respective games, often pushing the technology in very different directions. This network of resources allows individual studios to pull from a much larger knowledge base, and therefore add significantly to the quality of each game.

The classic "whole is better than the sum of its parts" concept.

I've never bash Bioware, I know it's EA that make the call on this. I've always love Bioware stuff proof of all the game I brought from them and all the DLC I brought but that doesn't mean i'm happy about it.

Mods and DLC sales aren't mutually exclusive. I believe some popular Skyrim mods require to have Dawnguard installed in order to build on said game's assets. It is understandable to want to protect your intellectual property at the expense of modders, it would be wrong to underestimate the latter's ability of problem-solving though.
