More or less every studio under EA is gonna be using this engine from now on. And why is this bad? It is a pretty solid engine. It has some compression issues and loading times. All of which can be fixed.

It's bad because it is very difficult to mod and with no official mod support. If you're a console owner it makes no difference so you probably won't understand but PC gaming has a very healthy tradition of extending the longevity of games with their mods. Look at Skyrim, for example, an almost four year old game that has been extended well beyond the adventures you paid for and has been kept up to date with visual and audio mods that means even three and half years on, it rivals most AAA titles. Like I said in another thread, Bioware/EA are PC hostile.

I only play games on PC, more or less. And i still think the Frostbite engine is the right choice going forward. I love mods for Bethesda games, but i play that game for a different reason than Bioware games. If that makes sense. I have never really used mods for any Bioware game, because they can stand on their legs without, therefore i don't mind Frostbite.

The reason they chose this engine was because it VERY hard to make mods and content for modder so they could sell DLC so people would buy those DLC and not downloading mods for free that are pretty much all the time better.

That depends. I don't really see BioWare producing DLC that a modder could have done for less, or even at all, because it'll likely be mostly if not only story-driven content and free multiplayer content.

"Yet another game from the Bioware games.."

Yet another? There's been one other game on this engine from Bioware.

Putting aside EA here because that whole other can of worms, Triple A games are being sold to cheaply for the cost to make them but the price can't be raised as it would be too much for gamers to pay so only having one team developing a engine then one or two per studio is a way to lower the cost. Even Bethesda Softworks has several of their studios using ID tech.

God forbid that EA (a company) tries to make as much money as possible! How do dare they?!?!
