So this hasn't been officially confirmed as in nobody from Bioware has come out and said "hey guys, Shepard will be back in Mass Effect: Andromeda" but we have enough info that they might as well have.

 

So basically everyone has been wondering who that mysterious figure in the N7 armour is, the developers have said it is not the protagonist and it can't be Vega as he would have had to shave off quite a bit of muscle mass to fit in that outfit which leaves only one other possibility, Shepard!

 

Basically this confirms that the destruction ending is canon and that Shepard will be leading the Ark to find a new home for humanity, but wait I hear you cry, that can't be my Shepard as my Shepard looked nothing like that and was a woman! Well unfortunately you don't survive a giant space station blowing up and crash landing on earth without getting a few scars and as amazing as Commander Shepard is unfortunately he is no exception as he suffered horrible burns to his face requiring him to need a face lift, and depending on the gender suffered major damage to her reproductive organs causing her to require gender reassignment surgery.

Took me a couple of reads to realize that the original post was tongue-in-cheek, because I was going to point out that--if they went ahead with a canon ending--they wouldn't need to set it in another galaxy in the first place.

I can't understand why some people always want to stick with the old characters and hate the idea of new characters. I seriously can't.

I haven't said i hate new characters, neither did I said i wanted to see Shepard as a protagonist again, just that it would be nice seeing him again.

Ever thought that the N7 guy might be a new character? It doesn't confirm Shepard or a canon ending. And why would you even think that, if this character were to be Shepard, they wouldn't use a placeholder character like they did, like, always?

Anyways, I agree with you. He'll make a nice cameo. Maybe in a bar some people are harassing this old man in his 70s/80s, he stands up and kicks their butts then grumbles something about him saving the galaxy once or being an N7.

They get attached because of a 100+ hours in universe as character X.

 

Not hard to understand.

I've beating the trilogy over 5 times and I love Shepard, but I want to see new characters. We had Shepard for 3 damned games, let him have a rest already.

An N-class designation is simply special forces in the alliance, and the number 7 is the highest in those forces. Shepard was an N7, but there are others. 

 

All we know is that this guys is part of the alliance and is one of the elite of the elite soldiers for them, and that's it. That's all that is guaranteed with the N7 marker on the armor.
