I'm sorry, but there is only one proper response here:
Don't use a voiced player-character this time.

What is with all of these friggin troll threads? It's like the trolls came out as soon as this game was announced. ME is the series that brought the voiced protagonist to bioware in the first place.

For some folks, this isn't trolling. They really believe that a silence protagonist would be better, even for ME. I don't get it, but to each their own.

One problem I have with silent protagonists, as far as BioWare is concerned, is that it tends to clash with the way Bio presents its stories. Origins tries to capture a more cinematic kind of experience while the center of its tale is basically an expressionless mannequin. So you have all these scenes with a fully voiced cast, while you have a "character" that perpetually speaks in single sentences at a time. It almost makes me wish that Origins had more "stare intently" options that resulted in characters feeling uncomfortable.

It's also at odds with how Bioware portrays their PCs, i.e., as the charismatic leader. This becomes ridiculous in DA:O and KOTOR, where the protagonist awkwardly stands by during the endgame heroic speech so that some other character can deliver it.

So you've got no rational counter-argument to make, or you can't be bothered to make one.
When you've got nothing, is responding at all a smart move? It kind of lampshades that you've got nothing.
It's very strange. My "opinion" was that plain text without some indication of tone provides incomplete information. I didn't think this was a controversial position. What do I know, apparently? I've never been told I've been blocked before, though. I guess I'm flattered I mattered enough that someone really needed the last word?

Heck, if Alistair is gone after the landsmeet, Anora will give the speech before the battle of Denerim wearing full armor.

And both introduce you. And then... silence.
It's the weirdest heroic speech. It basically amounts to "And here's the mascot of Ferelden, who [long list of feats]..." /cutscene over.

It's too bad the Mascot of Ferelden didn't come out guns blazing and made a slam dunk in front of a screaming army.

They have their pros and cons, but I have come to enjoy a voiced protagonist over a silent one. I enjoy tone and inflection and while the technology is getting much better, a lot of games aren't great at subtle facial expressions. I personally found a voiced PC better at conveying smaller nuances than silence and a vague facial expression.
Origins was a great game, but I'd rather not go back to dead silence with a blank facial expression. It would be even nice if ME had two voices to choose from per gender, but I'm getting greedy at this point.
The only thing I don't like..is the faces they make ! ever zoomed on your Quizzie making a Grr face hunting nugs ? ![]()

Not wishing to be mean OP,
but the ship has sailed,
the horse is dead,
we have moved on,
the sun has set,
the stable door is closed.
A bit like the Hero of Ferelden, Shepard and the Milky Way.
So, no.

I want ME:A to be compatible with my 1950s old black & white television. It has been proved that in 1950s they did great shows with that so why change? Colors are overrated...you guys have no imagination i'm telling ya.

It can be a good thing though. Witcher 3 mostly uses it to good effect especially when using Witcher sense and giving vocal clues as to what we're seeing.

These big budget games have to have mass appeal. it seems the masses want their hero to be voiced some specially chosen VA.

It isn't the masses that wanted it at first. Bioware was one of the first RPG developers to do this on their own. Mass Effect was unique for it when it came out. And then people came afterwards. It's not like they're catering to something... they created this market themselves.

You want Mass effect, the franchise that was so influential in video game history for its use of the voiced protagonist in storytelling that it converted fellow BW franchise Dragon age and now Bethesda's Fallout 4 to the immersion of a voiced protagonist...to have a voiceless protagonist ?
What next ? Doom 5 as a linear 2D shooter ? Super Mario Galaxy 3 as a single-screen platformer ? TES 6 as a linear action RPG ?
