Adept
Biotics seem like the most fun. I'd happily throw people across the room, if they pissed me off.
I don't think every biotic suffers from side effects. Only those with faulty implants and perhaps those who can't quite control their powers.

Engineer
Realistically as a biotic in terms of lore (ie not Shepard or Asari) your biotics aren't going to be too good.
Whereas tech can be the same for everyone.
Plus
Like there's a lot of mechs around in ME2 and there's Geth so if they attack then it's best to be Engineer. And then you have Overload with Neural Shock for organics. And plus you can set people on fire. And I mean in ME3 I remember when I did an Engineer playthrough (one of my many) and I had so many drones all at once (three, I think) so rather than having one target Engineers can give enemies many more and I mean flamethrowers too.
For me in the ME universe, tech beats biotics because of their versatility and usefulness. Biotics just smash what's on the field, whereas tech manipulates the field. That's what I like to think of it as.

In ME3, the Engineer was a class to be feared. I still have fond memories of combining an Inferno Grenade from my one tortured Ashley playthrough with a Chain Overload and watching three fire explosions go off in harmony. Add in Kaiden with his two extremely useful tech powers, and Tali popping Sabotage off on bosses to double our damage...
If the LolAcolyte didn't exist, engineers would be unmatched.
Soldier.
I'll pass on the surgical implants that human biotics need to get. Also to paraphrase my namesake, "Telekenetic powers are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."
VORCHA
Adept of course.
Engineer. I loved the N7 Demolisher.
Throw grenades. Everywhere and at anything.
Engineer. I love to use the Omni-tool, and I like science-technology over space-magic.
Screw your rules. Novaguard.
For battlefield purposes, I'd go with Tech powers, Engineer.
I've overplayed Adept, staying in my comfort zone and for some reason I tried out Infiltrator, learned about Tech Vulnerability. Well, EDI your day of reckoning for being perceived as a threat is just done come. Wouldn't you say, Tali?
ouuuhhh... :-) Tech Power!
I actually came from the other direction:
Started with an Infiltrator, then switched to an Adept to see what all the fuss was about.
Now, Biotics for life, you know?
Credit where it's due though, the omni tool is the single coolest utility item in sci-fi, hands down, and get rid of that lightsaber.
Oh, man, this is tough.
It's funny because my main Shep is a Soldier... What can I say? I like guns. I cannot lie. (Is it my favourite class? I don't know so far, but it's pretty fun. I'm planning to try the others soon to find out which one I like best. Either way, Soldier suits my current Shep perfectly.)
But, personally? I'd want to be a biotic... with proper assault training and guns! Why should I limit myself just to biotic abilities? I would be stupidly overpowered. (Shh, don't step on my dreams.)
I would be a drell engineer. I'd like a Glyph model VI as well.
Adept. I'd love to be a freaking space wizard ![]()
And I hate Asaris, but they live for a millenium. Damn, that's 1000 F**KING YEARS. Imagine all the things you could do.

Imagine watching every non-Asari and non-Krogan friend you have wither and die, the knowledge that you will one day forget them always lurking under the surface of your psyche.

Nah I don't really have that mindset. Yes, it'd be tough, but that's nature. Friends, family, relationships come and go. You lose a friend today, but you'll make new ones as well. I can see becoming drepessed/insane happening if there's no one to talk, or anyhting to do, like in Stephen King's Jaunt. But if you have 1000 years and a galaxy to explore, I can't see something bad there.
I always choose soldier for my first game but I also play other choices after.
Engineer, so i can play video games anytime on my omni tool, do a grill party with incinerate and freeze my Boss mouth when he yells with cryo blast.
It's a close call between Soldier and Adept for me as I love the ability as a slodier but then I also love flinging things around with Biotics but if I had to choose I think Adept would win by a whisker
I'd be a soldier. Dealing death on the front lines, being proficient in all things guns. Hell yeah.
Adept. Becuz phenomenal cosmic power.
Adept only because Vanguard or Infiltrator aren't options.
