A while back, I wrote a post describing how the Shepard trilogy have left me emotionally shattered and exhausted, such that I haven't touched the games since finishing Mass Effect 3, save for a few checks just to see if the games still work, even though I still have two Mass Effect (1) saves to import. In that post, I described my feeling of dread at the prospect of a prequel or spin-off that might still involve Shepard and the Reapers in some way, and pleaded for a clean break from both, preferably set some time after the events of Mass Effect 3. This post, then, serves as a follow-up to my previous post, for this feeling of dread I had remains to this day, and I went into your E3 trailer still doubting that I would buy your game this time around.

I am thankful, then, that everything I've seen and read so far at the very least strongly suggest that your decisions have coincided with my pleas. Certainly, setting the game in the Andromeda Galaxy long after the original trilogy, and making clear from the outset that Shepard will not be returning offers a golden opportunity for a clean break from Shepard and the Reapers, one which I am now very optimistic you will take. Naturally, these decisions may prove controversial among some fans, and their opinions matter just as much as mine. This post, then, is merely an expression of personal gratitude, and if nothing else, as long as this is the path you will pursue to completion, at least you have retained one loyal customer.

So again, thank you, Bioware developers. You have renewed my excitement for this franchise, and I eagerly look forward to seeing Mass Effect: Andromeda come to fruition.
