Shepard dead? Mine lived through the ending. Guess you wish you'd picked the red explosions, now, don't you?
Or blue.
Red you are alone and it's only a matter of time before being an ultimately powerful being makes you go crazy. Maybe.
Blue you just live.

Franchises don't kill their hero....
Given the utter lack of any information about the plot, how do you know he's not the protagonist in this game? Either way, it is what it is so time to move on.

Because they told us a bunch of times.

Which can only be unlocked by enough people playing MP!
Someone never got the memo that the Extended Cut fixed that detail

The story takes place LONG after the ME3 ending. LONG after. As in perhaps hundreds of years. Shepard is dead.

The Citadel DLC's ending is good enough for me. I headcanon the rest.

This... although I'm still kinda hoping for a "Shepard Lives" t-shirt or graffiti to show up somewhere?

Shepard's possible death wasn't the main issue, it was the catalyst. Now we're in ****** Andromeda because of it.
Not amused.

If I see a turian punk tagging a wall with Shep's name I might just well up with conflicted joy.

The problem with Shepard's death, in the end, it wasn't the she/he died. But how it was handled.
Forcing a sacrifice like in ME3 didn't really worked for me. Expecially not with the poor illogical reasoning of the CataCasper, and the poor way to make Shep commit suicide (jumping in the goo? electrolucting herself? running toward an exploding tube she's shooting at?!).
Since Andromeda is far away in time and space frome ME3, Shep could have been left alive at the end of ME3... to just be dead by old age in Andromeda. Shep would be dead the same. But ME3 could have ended with a more positive ending for those who like it.

A Shepard Cult might be amusing as well, I could imagine them ending every sermon with "I should go."

Yeah, I always saw Control as being just the Catalyst running Shepard.exe with a new Avatar.

And what guarantees that the Shepard-Wannabe AI wont come to the same conclusion as the Reapers and decides to start the cycles again?

Well, I don't see exactly like this. I think it's different from the Catalyst too.Yeah, I always saw Control as being just the Catalyst running Shepard.exe with a new Avatar.
To clarify, I like (Para)Control.

Only real ending is MEHEM and everyone knows that. But the only way to completely screw Shepard over is putting him in Mass effect Andromeda
