I just feel like the obvious answer is gonna be a worm hole. You saw in the trailer that guy instantly traveled to another planet. Only possible with wormholes. It even looked like what you would expect a depiction of a worm hole to look like. This is gonna be how they bypass the need for Mass Relays in a new galaxy, cause everything is gonna be through worm holes.
So... how are we getting to Andromeda again?

It's also a teaser trailer, so shouldn't be held as pure fact.
I doubt they's have the guy standing there for hours or however long the trip would take in a teaser trailer.
Actually I think that was FTL travel
It was. The planet selected says FTL Destination.

FTL travel wouldn't create a tunnel around you, ive never seen that in any Sci Fi game or movie during FTL. Usually entering a tunnel in space and exiting at another point is a worm hole

I see it as the opposite, actually. There is no way a species as arrogant and dominating as the Leviathans would not want to possess more than one galaxy under their dominion. The entire universe should serve them.
And as pointed out by others, other galaxies would pose a threat to this galaxy if the synthetics there came here thus it is only logical to stop that from happening since it falls under the mandate.
But why would their synthetics want to come here?

To impose order on the chaos of organic evolution ...!

There are any number of reasons, really.
For example just like the Reapers could see other galaxies as a threat to the Milky Way, maybe a synthetic race would see the Milky Way as a threat to them. Or perhaps they were driven out of their galaxy and see the Milky Way as a potential new home. Or they are just the evil "Exterminate! Exterminate!" robots. And so on and so forth.

Spoiler
The Reapers meeting the Andromeda equivalent of the Reapers would be funny.
Milky Way Reaper: "We will not let you threaten the organics of the Milky Way galaxy."
Andromeda Reaper: "We will not let you threaten the organics of the Andromeda galaxy."
Both: "Wait, what? You are doing that too? Well, this is awkward. Friends?"

Maybe the people in the ARK are people who rejected Synthesis or ón whom it failed to attach...
So the Synthesis people built them a superadvanced ARK and told them to go somewhere where their chaotic and primitive type won't disrupt the harmony of the happy people.
You are not compattible with the bliss that's eternal happynes, wisdom and transcendance. Therefor you will have to find a new home. For the hundred million or so people... A large part could be humans due to the fact that their genetic variability that they talked about so much, caused synthesis to fail... That Krogan with the big horn... Genetic maybe?
We've built this moonsized Ark for you and fueled it for a ride to the Andromeda Galaxy. Good luck and may you find your own enlightenment.

Another theory
Before the asari discovered the Citadel, they sent a ship to Andromeda to explore that galaxy.
That's dumb.
That's like saying Columbus would send a spaceship to the moon before discovering the American continent.
Why would anyone spend resources on exploring another galaxy that's 2,5 million lightyears away when you've barely scratched the surface of your own galaxy?
Edit: I'd also like to add that there is no way of reaching Andromeda with conventional FTL. It's just impossible. It literally would take 12500 years at constant maximum FTL speed to reach Andromeda. How would anyone pull that off? Even the Asari don't live that long and that's not even your biggest concern. Fuel and overheating the spaceship (FTL produces an insane amount of heath) are the big issues here which makes FTLing to Andromeda impossible.

The "FTL tunnel" in the ME:A trailer reminded me a lot of this:
Does anyone know how the TARDIS in Doctor Who travels through time and space? Is that ever explained in the series?

I'm really hoping for a stasis pod long term trip OR a generation ship long term voyage.
Do not want magic portals - but, of course if they choose to go with worm holes I won't care much. Just a preference.
