I've seen pretty much every incarnation of Batman in television and cinema.

From the asburd 1966 series, which I liked only when I was a child, to the current last trilogy from C. Nolan.

Frankly, I prefer the two Burton films over those mad by Nolan, the upper link sums a large part of what I think on the whole matter. Excessive seriousness/realism, just standing on its own, is a bad thing, ironically results in less seriousness and more in strutting about how good the product is.

My personal ranking list is

1 - Batman (1989)

2 - Batman Returns

3 - Batman the Dark Knight

Why would someone shoot a man, before throwing him out of a plane?

The Burton films had a strong influence on TAS (and Danny Elfman <3 ), so I'll go with those. All I know about comics is from film and TV, so I can't be assed about faithful adaptation and what-not.

The problem with the Dark Knight Trilogy is that the characters don't really have character.

Most just go on philosophical lectures which aren't particularly interesting.

Meanwhile, you have stuff like this.

This depicts the struggle of Bruce Wayne right before he became Batman, in which he tries to decide if he should become a vigilante or be happy with the woman he loves.

God this movie is so good.

Ok. The bolded ranking needs some form of explanation.

Because I always found Mystery of the Batwoman the weakest of the Animated Batman films.

Ok. The bolded ranking needs some form of explanation.

Because I always found Mystery of the Batwoman the weakest of the DCAU Batman films.

I generally enjoyed it as it felt like a return to form after the Animated Series departure in '99, although Beyond came to be a few years later but while i enjoyed it; McGinnis was never the kind of Batman I enjoyed along with pretty much all of the supporting cast -- The film was written by Dini & Alan Burnett, who also worked on both Beyond and the original series plus the tie-in to the Nolan films (Gotham Night). I found it quite well realized and entertaining, like a good celebration of the best iteration of Batman -- Namely the one Timm & Dini brought to life with the 90s cartoon.
