Seriously, not finding a way around the ending of ME3 so we have to ditch all the things we love, all the characters we love and the unexplored 97% of the galaxy sucks.

I am simply not interested in starting the world building from scratch because the ending of ME3 was a bad mistake...

I might pick this up in a bargain bin (real or virtual) but there is NO WAY I pay more than 30% of full price for it. And that's of course if it gets good reviews.

That's great news. Would you like us to try and convince you why you should keep an open mind or are you 100% not interested? Because at the moment you talk about re evaluating your position dependent on price, which is odd as really you should judge this game on its merits? It maybe absolutely awful. Would you still pick it up if it is discounted to 30%? It could be absolutely the best game ever, would you still wait until it is discounted?

99% of the things I love about ME are not tied to made up places in the Milky Way galaxy. They can use made up places in another galaxy just as easily.

I emphatically regained interest. I always thought I'd be seriously connected to the first three games, and leaving them behind would hurt, but installments 2 and 3 disabused me of that notion.

I think this is gonna be great.

Yeah, totally. Reapers were around for billions of years, during which time they repeatedly wiped out all organic life in the galaxy that met a technology threshold, and they never had the tech to go outside the Milky Way. So in MEA, discarding the "humans are special" tradition, we now have a human protagonist who managed a galactic jump...

I'm curious. List them.

If the gameplay is good enough, I will pick it up as mindless entertainment, not for the story.

The main point, however is that this was one of the options I have 0% interesting in from a story perspective; I was one of those who considered the first rumors of this simple trolling, because it seemed so ridiculous to me. And then it turns out to be true.... :(

It's possible... You just have to be asleep for the journey of a million years.  :P

Even if we were sticking with the galaxy, it wasn't gonna be with Shepard. That shouldn't surprise you.

Well you obviously liked the opposite of the things I liked. I liked the worlds, the races, the characters and the whole setting.

All of that is now gone. Period.

Or to put it another way... would you be interested in Episode VII if it was set in a different galaxy and none of the original characters will be around?

I'm not thrilled it will be in another galaxy, but I accept it will be and will preorder the game. I'm sure it will do well or at least like for it to do well.

I can't say no to another Mass Effect game.

I enjoyed the first three a lot.

I'm not pre ordering it though.

It's not out of disrespect to BioWare.

I just think pre-ordering is a bad idea.

I'll wait for a discount.

Well yes, of course.  As long as there was stuff like the force, lightsabers, comedic robots and the like.

Being set in another galaxy didn't stop Stargate Atlantis from being just as good of a show (if not sometimes better) than SG-1.

(Which is why Stargate Universe suffered, since they were constantly moving between galaxies, interesting antagonists and worlds kept being left in the rear-view mirror)

I can't imagine what else you'd be attached to, in that case. ME2 and ME3 brought the whole thing crashing down. This is not a controversial position.

Why? Normal consumers don't preorder any other kind of product, so why preorder a game according to a few cherry-picked vertical slices are shown to the public and will probably be subject to cuts and changes?

Bioware at the end of ME3: "Yay, you've made it. Your Shepard saved the galaxy and everyone you love! The reapers are dead, the Milky Way is free!"

Me:

Bioware at E3: "Now hop on the ark and leave behind the Milky Way and everyone you love!"

Me:

Bioware: "No, we're serious."

Well, I loved KOTOR, and it didn't have much to do with seeing Dantooine.
