I'm on the fence about the setting change, myself. I get it, but that doesn't necessarily mean I think it's a good idea.
I'm prepared to wait for more information, but the trailer did very little for me. Not one of my top moments for E3.

Well you obviously liked the opposite of the things I liked. I liked the worlds, the races, the characters and the whole setting.
All of that is now gone. Period.
Or to put it another way... would you be interested in Episode VII if it was set in a different galaxy and none of the original characters will be around?
Would this be a bad time to point out that Episodes I-VI didn't all have the same worlds, races, characters, and setting focus across their own movies, let alone the focus points of I-III and IV-VI?
Tatooinie was the only planet that had a major role across I-VI, and even then it was never went back to after IV. The 'all Star Wars stories go to Tatoonie' has generally be considered a weakness, not a strength. Corscurant had a big presence in I-III, but was practically non-existent in IV-VI. Naboo didn't happen in IV-VI. Hoth and Bespin weren't in I-III.
In fact, the only movie I can think of that didn't have a major world focus of a planet that only appeared once was I, because Naboo/Tatoonie/Corscurant. But we certainly never had reoccuring focus on the culture or depth of Naboo, or anywhere else, like we had in the ME trilogy.
Races came and went, and most of the cast changed drastically. Anakin/Vader really can't be considered consistent, and R2D2/C3PO were walking plot holes.
So... yeah. People would probably be able to enjoy the next star wars movie even if it only selectively kept some of the races and never visited past planets. That's pretty much what happened in Episodes I-VI.
All I am really saying is that my Hype Level is at 1% right now.
After seeing this trailer, plus the ending of ME3, plus the massive disappointment that was DA2... Bioware must work HARD to get my hype level up to "pay full price" levels (85% or more).

I'm afraid to tell you that's not going to happen: imagine if there's currently someone who is 90% hyped right now; if Bioware pump out 84% of hype into the atmosphere, that individual will be 174% hyped, which is impossible (you can't go over 100%). You're better off taking the 1% you've got and seeing if you can add it to hype for another game. Are there any games you're currently only 84% hyped for at the moment?

Or they can just keep doing what they are doing, and count on the other people who are obviously interested plus new players to make up for the fact that a trailer didn't wow you into preording the game 18 months out.
I honestly don't get the people who lose interest based on us leaving the Milky Way. If you fell in love with all the made up species, adventures, colonies, et al that populated the Milky Way then why wouldn't you trust them to create another galaxy that you could love?

I'm not interested in Ep VII because unlike this game, it actually destroys the lore (EU).
Maybe you should reevaluate.
It is far from ideal for me either, I like the Milky Way because there is our solar system and Earth and what not, but I am willing to give them a chance. If done right, the game and the new galaxy can have that feel of a new home I am sure of it. (I am still going to miss our galaxy tho
)

I'm sure they could. I just don't think they need to.
For me, a large part of the appeal for the prospect of a new ME game - which I was kind of on the fence about to start - was the idea of seeing the lasting consequences my decisions had and what impact they had on the development of the Milky Way.

Is the EU lore though? It has seen enough revisions in the years.

I mean, that's fair enough. It's to be expected after they've continually shafted us with false hope and poor delivery (DA:I being the latest failure).
But I do think that the direction they are taking with ME:A is the best direction to remedy that. It cuts as manay ties as possible from the past and provides a new platform to push on from.
The real key is if Bioware take a lazy arse "here's a galaxy full of filler - hype it up as massive but deliver nowt" approach, or "here's a wonderful new galaxy to explore - give those gamers a real feeling of being a space cowboy on an epic exploration adventure" instead.
It's a brave move by them in my book. So long as they make the game with the world being a backdrop for the story & feel of being said cowboy/explorer. Not the world being the "star", and everything else revolving around it in an attempt to appease mass marketing feeback from drongos who couldn't tell you what a good game requires if you force fed them the answers.

Not to mention 95% of the EU was terrible.
I hypothetically love Star Wars, and I think the absolute best execution of the IP was Obsidian, followed by Bioware. That's even over the films.

I know right, I can't imagine myself enjoying a movie that takes place in a Star Wars universe where Palpatine doesn't get cloned, Luke Skywalker doesn't turn to the darkside, Jedi don't have sex with a Killik hive mind, and the galaxy doesn't get invaded by some edgy Hellraiser knock-off looking aliens.
I bet this is the thread that convinces the dev team to halt their work and go back to the drawing board.
You do know Mac Walters is creative director now? Andromeda is likely to turn out even MORE human-centric than the Milky Way.Good. No more "Save EARTH! and "Earth is so special because HUMANS!".
I have never liked the Post-ROTJ EU. I don't mind Disney obliterating most of the EU as long as they preserve the Old Republic era. Kotor 1&2 are absolute gems that were, in many ways, superior even to the original movie trilogy.I know right, I can't imagine myself enjoying a movie that takes place in a Star Wars universe where Palpatine doesn't get cloned, Luke Skywalker doesn't turn to the darkside, Jedi don't have sex with a Killik hive mind, and the galaxy doesn't get invaded by some edgy Hellraiser knock-off looking aliens.

Ewwwwwwwwww
I want more of that feel from the original Mass Effect. Humans were new and by no means the standout race. I'm tired of humans taking center stage in games with alien races;even Mass Effect eventually did this.
At least we know this game will be 101% milk proof. No more milking dead cows.
I think humans being super awesome in contrast to the aliens is one of Mac's biggest power fantasies in sci-fi. Perhaps that would explain his near perpetual boner for Cerberus.Ewwwwwwwwww

OH GOD MAKE CERBERUS GO AWAY
What was Cerberus in the end of the day anyway? They were something different in every game.
That kind of thing always stings :/
I hope the game might still rekindle some spark whithin you once it's closer to release though. Like I said in another topic, it feels like Batman Beyond of Mass Effect, so naturally it's gonna be really off-putting to many hardcore fans of the first games.
ME1: Shady Alliance military black ops with a pro-human agenda. What was Cerberus in the end of the day anyway? They were something different in every game.
