Also, the thoughtless slaughter of animals isn't comparable to the slaughter of plants. Plants cannot suffer. Animals, particularly the warm blooded and sociable mammals and birds that most people eat, suffer from birth to slaughter.

Whew and here I just wanted to make a joke about idiots who think they can live on sunlight.

Everybody should just eat what they want and not what they don't. Chomp down wit' yo bad self.

"Well that got dark quick..."

Seriously though, I gave being a vegetarian a go for a few months and wish I had the willpower to sustain it. Not a fan of animal suffering at all.

As if one needed to hunt, fish or ride, be brave and have lots of courage in order to go to a supermarket and purchase a piece of flesh from a humiliated and murdered creature.

I'm not a vegetarian but I also understand the idea and agree with the principles. It burns me up a little when people antagonize and belittle those who make different lifestyle choices than them. I don't know SpaceVegan enough to know if people are offending him with their insensitivity or not. Pictures of food is one thing but insinuating that he is an idiot is toeing the line of bullying.

Yeah, the principles are great and it's respectable that people will make sacrifices and exercise so much self-control to actually support them. All the vegans I know are used to people trying to provoke them and brush it off easily, but some people go past making silly jabs to just being pointlessly rude.

I am pretty used to these provocations. Always the same recycled jokes and arguments, over and over.  After five years being vegan, all these provocations have got old. They aren't offensive. Surely they are tasteless, but not offensive  -_-

Besides, most people who know me probably have noticed that I am quite cool as a vegan. I don't make a big deal of being vegan, I don't normally bring it up when talking to people and I don't try to change people's minds.
However, when opportunity arises, I am happy to talk about it. And I am glad that some of you have shown empathy.

This thread is the most disappointing thing I have ever read on this site, and that is saying a lot. Do you guys think you are funny for making fun of a Vegan and posting images that would obviously be upsetting to that person? You're acting like inconsiderate jerks (putting it nicely).  <_<

I do, and you should too. Vitamin B12 deficiency is not just a vegan health issue, it can affect anyone.

So very true. I consume meat, yet I still have B12 deficiency. In my case, I cannot extract the vitamin from food properly.

I have to get a B12 shot every few months. It can definitely affect anyone.

For those who have no idea what this is like, I have a gif here to illustrate.

It can be VERY disturbing for some viewers, so I will put it inside a Spoiler tag.

Spoiler

Is that real? Because I seriously just cried my eyes out after seeing that.   :crying:

I think I just became a vegetarian.

If you're a vegan that gets upset by seeing images of meat etc, than I really feel for you. Not sure how you hide yourself from seeing carnivorous food every day everywhere you go.

Honestly, this whole thread is all in good fun anyway. Why'd we stray away from sharing hilarious food gifs and memes to get all whiney?

There is having to see such things in your daily life because it is so common (practically unavoidable) and there is the situation we have here.

People ridiculing a Vegan and posting unnecessary images to get a rise out of that person.

This thread was just harmless joking at first, but has now turned into something unpleasant.

All in good fun for certain people, clearly.

I put it inside a spoiler tag because it can be pretty disturbing indeed. Still, I think it is something important to be seen...
And that is not just real but also an usual practice.

Whether this leads to you changing your diet or not, I am glad to see your understanding and compassion  :)

My uncle drank his whole life. As I was growing up, I saw him slowly transition from a driven PhD candidate, into a haggard broken shell that spent most months in and out of homeless shelters. I was about 8 years old when my family organised an intervention, and told him that he was gifted, and that if he wanted to fulfill his potential, he needed to get his life into order. Tears swelling in his eyes, my uncle promised to become a better man.

Two months later, he suffered a stroke brought about by his heavy drinking. It was terrible and crushed us as a family. My mother took me aside and told me to never drink alcohol, to never put my family through the same things my uncle did, and to work hard to become the best and brightest I could be.

I am now 37 years old with children of my own, and I tell them the same thing, because I want the best for them in life. But to be truthful, I regret never drinking even a single sip of alcohol. Because reading MP forum topics give me irreparable brain damage anyway.

That a debate about the ethicsl treatment of plants and animals occured on a forum dedicated to spending hundreds of hours killing things seems... well, it seems about right given the amount of logic usually seen in the ME3 MP forums.

Clearly the answer here is cannibalism. I've always advocated, that this should be possible solution to a burgeoning population and sustainability issues.

I also think that animal welfare is a highly important issue and shouldn't be made light of. As such free range farming is a another possible solution, hunting free range animals through the streets and fields with a bow and arrow. Blooding one's face with the warm blood of a kill, after chasing it down and killing it with your bare hands.

Glorious.

Plus the vegetarians and vegans can chew grass in the field and starve, more meat for me!
