As does my assertion that MP was not mandatory.
Again, only if you owned an iOS device.
As does my assertion that MP was not mandatory.
Free? Last time I checked - three minutes ago -- it cost $5. And the Android version didn't come out for months.
Edit: or do you mean Datapad? Yeah, that was free, but it never came out for Android at all.
I have that app and it's was free, I've never spent a dime on the appstore, so you are either wrong or it's different for certain region/countries.
Right. Reading comprehension fail there. My other objections still stand. The apps were a nonstarter for me since I didn't own any iOS devices at the time. As for people who did have iOS devices, IIRC those apps were hugely unpopular, but we'll have to look at the archived forums to find out why.
I had IOS at the time. They were a pain in the ass, they took forever, and required babysitting. They functionally just pushed people towards multiplayer, because they were such a tedious alternative.
As does my assertion that MP was not mandatory.
And once again, it was mandatory, for several months, if you wanted to achieve a certain ending, to gain EMS above and beyond what's available in a SP playthrough. Whether it's MP you don't like or a **** app on a phone you don't own, that's an unreasonable burden.
And here's something I just remembered. If I didn't have Xbox Live Gold, I would have been SOL too. That's a real good design choice, right there.
And yet, at the end of the day, it's horde mode with 3 enemy types and a handful of different objectives.
I played it a lot. Eventually, most matches ended up just feeling the same. It got old, and I stopped playing.
I hope you continue to enjoy it forever. I hope it's great in MEA. I just hope that no one is forced to participate in it for the sake of the single player game. That's not an unreasonable position. If you're not just here to troll single player fans, that should be clear and uncontroversial.
You didn't play it enough to know the number of enemy factions. I don't mean to troll, but I'm not the one who is placing one type of game above the other. I don't think it should be mandatory, but I like the idea MP play can effect the play by reducing grinding (which is what really happened in ME3).
Again, only if you owned an iOS device.
Or I suppose if you didn't care for that one-shot of Shepard living? If you think that Bioware would never have expected the blinding rage for synthesis and the general preference of destory, an easter egg for that ending probably wouldn't have struck them as a bad choice to content lock.

And that's fine. Optional shortcuts are great. Unless you think that I should be denied single player content for not participating in multiplayer, I don't know what we're arguing about.
I remember Cerberus, Reapers, and Collectors. I stopped playing it in early 2014. I don't remember any other factions.

There's no reason we can't have a good SP and MP being developed at the same time.
Actually, if we have both a large SP and MP developement team, larger budget allocation will likely improve the relative budget for each game modes as some assets like enemy types, environments can be shared across both modi without having to be built up from scratch for each one, meaning that the better EA thinks the game sells with a solid MP, the more funds will likewise be available for the SP team.
Finally someone with a damn brain. Take what works, improve both, and you have more awesome than awesome. My overarching hopes are:
SP mostly needs more customization, consistent storytelling, and all new animations.
MP needs more customization and modes with a revamp rewards/store system.
Geth. Collectors were added later then the othe three. And that's fine. Optional shortcuts are great. Unless you think that I should be denied single player content for not participating in multiplayer, I don't know what we're arguing about.

Geth I don't think you should be denied any content, we do agree on that. Where we disagree is the fact that you believe you were denied any content in ME3 because of MP, you weren't.

Right. In the month after release I was just as guilty as Bio of not understanding how much that clip meant to some of us; I was always a Control fan.I suppose those clueless posts are still floating around in the main EMS thread.
I didn't like any of the endings, but I thought it was pretty obvious Bioware took "synthesis" to be the best ending, and thought that giving players an easter egg for the best version of the mostly "bad" ending was pretty OK.
If this game has MP I will not buy it, plain and simple. Any budget they have for MP will be stealing from the SP game and will be robbing it of resources. MP will for sure affect SP and that is a shame and a disgrace.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! This means we surely won't have to listen to more "reload canceling is an abuse" crap, since there will surely be a MP!

Fine, I forgot geth.
You're correct, but you're also being extraordinarily nit picky. I will grant (and in fact I did in an earlier post) that I'm not required to participate in the MP. That didn't make those extra EMS points any more achievable in a given playthrough.
The apps were tedious and terrible. Multiplayer was the quickest and easiest. So it's really cool that I'd have to pay for a Gold account on Xbox if I didn't already have one.
I'm not going to boycott the damn game over the MP. I'm certainly going to play it. I'm just putting it out there, for the 800th time, that punishing your players for not participating in MP, and locking up story content behind that participation, or anything outside of the given playthrough, would be an extraordinarily stupid move.
Locking any SP content behind an MP game would be stupid. As would the reverse.
And, again, not all of us had the option to play those apps even if playing them would have been our best option. You're correct, but you're also being extraordinarily nit picky. I will grant (and in fact I did in an earlier post) that I'm not required to participate in the MP. That didn't make those extra EMS points any more achievable in a given playthrough.

How would this have worked? You could do it for the main quests, but how could you integrate the SQs and the Galaxy Map stuff with the main plot?
Like in DAO?
we never got a way to understand how those numbers on a screen worked with the "logic" of the casper anyway. If the ending was about making direct choices and consequences (having or not the Krogan, or the Geth/Quarian fleet, etc.) the numbers work in an empirical way, that for all the "we don't want ME3 to feel too gamey" felt even more gamey than anything. Get this number of stuff, and "win".
The ending should have been related to quest choices, not "readiness".
Awesome avatar and signature, you've got
After "Potere e Potenza" last year, the PKer in me came out as powerful as ever.

Dear SP-lovers:
The MP people are just jerking your chain. After this they go back to the ME3 MP section and post about how they trolled you and caused a frothing rage.
Andromeda will have MP, because it is another revenue stream. The MP may be good (a la ME3MP), or bad (a la DAMP). However, Bioware won't skimp on the SP in favor of developing the MP. Don't worry. Also, the leak states that you won't be forced to play MP.
Dear MP lovers:
The SP people are in a fragile emotional state after ME3. Like me, they love the SP game and worry that after DA2 and ME3 Andromeda will be another disappointment. MP is great (it saved the Mass Effect universe for me), but you won't get converts by acting like 8-year-olds. I'm surprised at the number of sensible posters from the ME3MP forum who are coming off as raging lunatics over here. The SP people don't know you, so they don't realize you're just teasing. Apparently there is something about SP fora that makes people lose their minds. Instead of poking the bears, why not make a thread of suggestions so that MEAMP doesn't wind up like DAMP?
Both SP and MP games have a lot to offer. One of the things that makes MP great is the lore that was developed and expanded on in the SP game. One of the things that can enhance the SP experience is talking with fun people in MP about Mass Effect. With luck everyone will have something to love about MEA.
I expect to be flamed equally by both sides now.

I would hope that we can all agree that DAMP is terrible.
To be fair, some were really obvious.

Of course they were. And people fell for them too, which made it all the more fun! ![]()
Some were good though! Speaking of which, where's QMR? Did they ban him again?
I want both. The MP was a great succes. If both become better because of each other why throw one of them away.
