Wasn't referring to ME3, but rather the people who have already made up their minds about this game in a bad way without even seeing it.
Personally I am excited about this game.

I am excited for this game but there is no turning away from the fact that we are moving galaxies because Bioware put a big mess in the Milky Way Galaxy and its probably because they didn't step on toes and canonize any endings or choices when moving on from sequel to sequel. The choosing is fun for the game itself well playing it but canonizing choices is important to move on to a true sequel.
I would've welcome them to make various polls for the choices we wanted to see take affect in the Next Mass Effect to be honest, I am sure eventually they will have to take the skeleton out of the closet to create intergalactic travel in the series lol.

It's up to you to decide what ending is best.

People seem to be missing the point again. Mass Effect was designed as a planned trilogy. This Andromeda game is separate from the trilogy. Here, let me demonstrate:
The line between the boxes demonstrates where the choices are carried over to.
Mass Effect was designed as a planned trilogy but this never prevented them from expanding the idea into applications for mobile devices, comic books, anime, motion picture (well, at least they had plans), side-story games on mobile phones (at least two of them by now), the multiplayer aspect, the planned but aborted mp only game, all the dlc adventures, the books.
The original mass effect trilogy never accounted for the whole of the mass effect universe. Along with the first game there was already a prequel in the form of a book.
Mass Effect was indeed intended as a trilogy, but never was declared to exist and remain only as a trilogy of games. From the very start the premise was extended.
ME Andromeda is not ME4. It´s not the fourth bastard part of a 3 part story. It´s a side story. It´s an entire separate seed that will germinate, grow, evolve and reproduce elsewhere.
The mass effect trilogy is indeed over. The Mass Effect universe is far from over. Shepard´s tales are ended. But there are many other tales waiting to be told.
Those who think they had enough of ME, can simply boycott the new game. Their choice, and probably their loss. Speaking only for myself, I´m more than willing to give bioware the benefit of the doubt. They at least deserve the chance to try and I sincerely hope they don´t screw things up. So far, I can totally see the reasoning behind their actions, and I respect their decisions. I don´t know if I will pre-order MEA (I´m inclined to say that my best guess is NO) but this has much more to do with the sorry and incomplete state in which games are released nowadays than doubts about this game in particular (not to mention that many of the initial patches will simply erase all your progress) than any fears or preconceptions I might have about MEA. But unless the initial reaction is one of pure hatred and the failures in the game can be detected even by watching youtube videos, I think it´s a 90% chance that I will buy it in a six month window of its release. Unless it´s really, REALLY filled with severe bugs. (hello, dragon age inquisition!)
There were some purists who refused to acknowledge star trek the next generation in the mid 80s (there may be some left to this day and age). You could hear people screaming words like nonsense, joke, insult, betrayal, heresy, blasphemy... People said that lighting could not strike twice, it was doomed to failure, that it was a disaster in the making, that it would bomb and not last half a season.
Well, it turned out lasting seven seasons and even some movies. Even though it had a rough start (the first 40 or so episodes sucked for the most part), after season 3 it became a very refined product, lasting much more than the original and even generating spin-offs of its own.
There´s nothing in the original premise of mass effect that prevents spin-offs. In fact, History very much favors it, since there was a spin-off book produced along with ME1 (I think it was actually released a few days prior to the game), and one spin-off game between ME1 and ME2 featuring jacob taylor.
I would go even farther and say that bring down the sky and pinnacle station are spin-off mini-tales. They were both released after many people had already completed ME1 and were waiting for ME2 (Pinnacle Station in particular came really late), They were simply additional fat tissue among the meat of ME1 and ME2.
So, even the concept of controlling another protagonist and having a story divorced from the main trilogy is not something new to ME.
How I would make my own version of Omega:
I´m not intending to say that this is how bioware should do and that it´s the only way to do it. I´m only saying that it´s how I think I would do it:
1-Make the story totally divorced not only in space, but in time as well. Make it take place thousands of years in the future, so that in essence virtually everyone from the original trilogy is long dead by now. They´ve all turned into dust or oil. Even the asari and krogan. Everything that happened is distant history, so there´s no need to know if shepard dated kelly, gave tali the geth data, recruited garrus, killed wrex, solved the geth-quarian conflict by peace or killing one of the sides, cured the genophage. This was a long time ago, and even the repercussions, like the number of quarians, geth or Krogan remaining (if there are any) in the milky way.
2-Make the ship having departure after ME1 (obviously) but even prior to the conclusion of the suicide mission. So it doesn´t even matter if shepard died trying to destroy or take over the place. And make it also prior to arrival, so it´s easier to explain batarians onboard and cooperating.
3-It´s too dangerous to have a unique settlement of milky-way natives into this space. Ideally, it should feature a small fleet of colony ships. They would built relay stations for comunications, but they would part ways and each one head to a different section of omega. So we could ensure a long series, with different games focusing on different groups and having contact with different species. It´s too dangerous to trust in a single card, so it would be better to spread around. Should a group meet hostile forces that outgun them, or a disease, or a lack of resources, there were always other groups around hopefully doing better.
The first game would focus on one of these groups, while recognizing that there are other milky way ships out there.
4-How to explain their trip to Andromeda? Scientis were to Illos and studied the stasis chambers. They tried to replicate in a way that would allow for thousands of people to survive in it. As for the trip through dark space, a batarian contribution, since they studided the leaviathan reaper killed by the real leviathan of dis. They saw how a ship could endure the trip between galaxies,
5-The salarian stg seemed to have trusted in shepards world, even if their government did not. They could be the ones behind such a thing. It may be possible that doctor bryson, prior to dying, had also involvement with this project.
6-Each ship would have a diverse crew. You could expect humans, asari, krogans, salarians, batarians, volus, hanar (yes!), even vorcha.
7-To add some spice, among the crews there could be an ardat yakshi, or maybe even a cerberus spy.
8-Since there are so many ships and settlements (each one with vehicles for different applications) this could allow a wide range os spin-off games. A game like civilization but dealing with colonization. Or a strategy game. Or even a ship simulator.
9-Should a particular game or setting displease the audience, EA could simply pull its plug and focus on other groups spread across omega. In this day and age, game companies are not allowed to make mistakes, specially with series. However, EA could take a few risky steps. Because if one of the settlements did not work for the audience they could jump to focus on another.
10-They could do each game individually, each one focusing on a different group, allowing even for newcomers to enjoy each new chapter without having missing much. After 3 or 4 games, they could make a big threat on Andromeda that would reunite all the different groups in a major crossover. There´s no recipe on how this could be done. Maybe the first settlement could have one game, and the second settlement to be focused could have 3... But after some time there would be a crossover that would require that you use a keep or genesis os sorts in order to transport all the decisions. If the first settlement (or group of ships ) could have 2 or 3 games, they you only would need initially to transport saves between these games. Should the fourth game on andromeda be about a different groups, there would be no need for a keep about the decisions of the first group, since they all happened parallel to the second group.
Personally, I think such treatment would leave many doors open for many possibilities, and give the series the agility it needs to be daring and at the same time react fast to the public reaction, shifting along with the waves.
"Fellow fanboys? There you go again in assuming my stance."
Those with affinity for the horses should also sleep in the stable. Those with affinity for pigs should also shower in mud.
"compared to your conduct i have yet to see your opponents generalise, and belittle an entire group for having a differing opinion. So far I've only seen you flying off the deep end with the insults before my response."
it´s interesting how you make a point in saying that it´s what you SAW and not what TRANSPIRED. Yeah, you see what benefits you. willful ignorance you will take you everywhere...
And as if bioware was not a part in this story.
"You could have easily corrected my assessment of your behavior by providing evidence like quoted posts that prove that the people you were debating"
I don´t have to prove anything to you, dude. I stated a fact.If you had a problem with it, it would be upt to you to disprove it. Frankyl everyone saw.
I said that there was a group of fanboys being childish. Your beef with me? Not that I failed to name names and point out to incidents, but merely that trying to direct how people should behave was wrongful, and that I had no business calling anyone childish or immature. And that I was laughable for doing it so.
Now you have you to change your line of argumentation, but maintaining the same moronic hypocrisy. Drop dead, will ya?
"against were being douches, even though two wrongs don't make a right"
Yeah, calling a spade a spade is such a wrong thing. Please, don´t cry.
"Take a hike? Nah. I like this little cozy trash heap of a thread."
Yeah, one can see why you would feel so good at a trash heap. It´s quite appropriate for you.
So does this mean that they'll move on to a new pc for each instalment like with TES, and DA?
I would think they would find that preferable, not being locked into one story line. As Bioware has already said, there are many stories to be told in the Mass Effect Universe.
6-Each ship would have a diverse crew. You could expect humans, asari, krogans, salarians, batarians, volus, hanar (yes!), even vorcha.
You need to take some time and read the leak.

Ad hominems aside...
-edit- Just read David's posts, and i concede. You should definitely debate against him.

A fresh start in the Mass Effect universe is the best decision Bio can make.
Forget the trilogy. It's over, finished, good bad or dowmright ugly. A fourth Shep/Citadel/Reaper story cannot repair the ME3 ending. It is what it is.
Now a new setting, a new place, a "start over" story can be told without baggage. My preference is for ME:A to leave the "old races" behind in the Milky Way galaxy and have spanking new races in the Helius Cluster. And, since it's the story of survival for manind, the PC must be human. Bio confirmed the protagonist is human, which make sense, if you think about it.
So, let the new story unfold.

I understand that. I personally have ME: Revelation, Ascension, Retribution, Evolution, Redemption and Invasion sitting on my bookshelf in my living room. Haven't picked up any others, but I might in the future.

Hopefully after Andromeda, Bio will go the Bethesda route, and feature a new protag for each successive title in order to offer a fresh perspective for each game. Could potentially help with the nightmare that is the save importing system too.

Good point about importing saves. No need to do that if it's always a new sory in the ME universe.
However, if Bio ever makes another game where fans get hooked and the main char/story positively resonates with the fans.... another trilogy may be the route to go... this time though Bio better make sure they plan for a proper ending(s).
