OMG.....omg this is so annoying. I make a perfect character it's just I suck at making a good portrait, it always ends up soo sh*tty and uggh.
I wish this was like DA:I or DA2 where they have a good looking pre-set portrait or no portaits at all lol.
So does anyone have any good tips on how to make a good portrait? and please don't say it won't matter , it's right there infront of you the whole game you're gonna be looking at it for a while.

You need to start with the base and work your way up.
Select a preset, and then remove all the hair and shadowing from the head. Do you like that basic head? If not, move on to another.
Once you have the head you want, pick the next largest thing, their hair. Then keep working on smaller and smaller details. Pick the shadowing (age) next. Then beard if male, then stubble. Play with the nose and so on.
The basic idea is to start with the biggest things first, and then work down to smaller details.

The thing is I got my character all set up, I know what he's going to look like and everything. I've remade him soo many times cause once I start the game the portrait always looks different in-game then the CC menu. I've been trying to switch around his portrait , change different angles he should be having and such.

As I posted on the other thread you made on this topic, you seriously need to download the character creator file from the original website (I will post the link for you in case you had trouble finding it before).

You may have to relog in the the Bioware board to access the page, but you should be able to access it and download it.
While it's not going to solve your issue with OCD'ing over character portraits, it will allow you to create characters just to your liking, save them, and then use them in your game, and reuse them as often as you like. This way you don't have to keep making them over and over again till you get the portrait the way you want it, they will be saved on file and can be recalled as often as you like. If the portrait isn't just right, at least you can restart your game without all that time obsessing over making the character in CC, you just pull up the file and adjust the portrait to your heart's content.
I know it doesn't help to tell you to stop obsessing. A friend of mine restarted Inquisition so much obsessing over each little flaw (either real or perceived) so badly, I had finished the game 3 times and she had barely gotten past the initial start of the game because of so many restarts. But I'll say it anyway. Stop obsessing. Enjoy the game. The character portrait is so small, after a while you just stop seeing it.

There's something on Nexus Mods that lets you take the chargen from a new character and apply it to a current save. I haven't messed with it since I typically take my time on a character and... I'm an artist, so knowing proportions is a thing and I knows what I likes. Strangely enough, the Golden Rule of Beauty geometry isn't that far off from what I and others seem to sketch out as our attractive generic sketch. Example, DA2 default Hawkes with the grid overlay. With the noses and lips as centered as possible, you don't see it stray too much from the "Golden Ratios" that Dr. Stephen Marquardt put together.

Basically, if you follow these templates, you should be happy with your symmetry and face anatomy. As an artist, our rules are that the inner eye corners match your nostril width, and your pupils and mouth corners line up. Ear height and brow corners should line up as well. Imagine a line from the ear/temple to the mouth corners and that should give you the cheekbone line. Once you have that, personality shouldn't be too hard. Play with the Character Creator and use these tips to try recreating the same face about 3 times. If you have to, screenshot the one you love most and pay attention to the feature line-up. Send the pic to your phone if you want and/or these templates.

Haha your always there to help me you know that. I will use the link you gave me, Like you said it won't solve my problem (that's something I need to deal with on my own.) but your link will help me try to do this alot easier without remaking them over and over again. I can't say this won't be the last time you see a topic like this from me again, but I'll try not to make another one like this (no promises but I'll think before posting something like this again.)

GeekSilentComplete, thank you so much for that quick course in face design. I'm not sure that I will ever get it quite right, but that certainly was very helpful to me. I appreciate your help so much. I'm glad I checked in to this thread.
