I actually want them to leave behind every race from Mass Effect. I want BioWare to show of even more of their creative talent and give us a full range of new, exciting, interesting characters/races that kind of make us forget about all those in the ME:Trilogy.

But... we all know some have to come back... otherwise this would be better of being a new IP. So, give me all the ones that got left behind in the Trilogy. Volus, Elcor, Hanar, Drell (If they haven't all died off yet) or maybe even bring in some that are part of the universe but weren't shown in the games, such as the race of virtual aliens.

I don't see that as an either/or scenario. They can introduce us to knew and exciting aliens that can wow us all over again while including the ones we've already grown to love.

Drell drell drell <3

Wrex and Eve are two of my favorite characters and I cured the genophage so I'm kinda attached to the krogan too. :3 Just hope they're a little less bloodthirsty and tough in a cliché way now. Wish I could go back to Tuchanka now. :/

Out of the funny alien species, volus are my favorite. Would be nice to have one on my ship this time. :3

Geth, Vorcha... Could just have them as stoveaways maybe they hybernated through the long journey....

Vorcha are very resilient and can survive extreme condition, maybe they got cryofrozen in a cargohold and then woke back to Life once the ships powered up and turned on the heat after the long journey.

The Geth could have been a surveliance team/Spies that tagged along, because they were "curious" about this very hush hush Project, assuming it was launched between ME2 and ME3. Now they are stuck in Andromeda like everyone else....

Finding Vorcha and Geth on the colonyship/ships could be an interesting start of the Andromeda mission, how will the Player handle it?

Really, it would be interesting to learn more about the settign for the launch, was it an ARK Project in preparation for the Reapers arrival? A galaxy post Reaper invasion would likely be to stuck with rebuilding what they had to care about collonising other Galaxies.

Not sure how likely Drell would be, but if the Hanar tag along then the Drell are bound to tag along aswell, they might even like that desert planet(The Drell that is) it might be somewhat like their original homeworld.

Quarians, i think they are the only race who can and would be the first who create a ship for travels in another galaxy.

They was the most interesting and technology advanced race from all in cicle, even prothean were like them more from others and quarians have their advanced technologies without prothean beam like asari do.

I do hope that if quarians do show up, they're out of the face masks. Want to show me change and progress? Let's get some models of quarians in casual wear.

While I'm a huge fan of soft reboots, I think abandoning the races (rather than introducing new ones) just hurts the series continuity. While I don't think the lore - such as it is - is worth keeping for the most part, things like there being mass effect fields, asari, krogan, etc. are what makes the series Mass Effect and not, for example, some other sci-fi.

That is a fair point, and that's why I said it's not going to happen otherwise it might as well be a new IP. I want them to keep what they have already established, but I myself, personally, do not see any use (as of yet) for the inclusion of most, if not all, of the pre-existing races.

I think soft reboots have the advance of subverting the tropes surrounding the setting. Chaste asari, pacifist krogan, communist volus, etc.

I don't think things need to be included for strictly utilitarian purposes. If they were, we'd have never gotten past pong.

I love the turians and krogans so I definitely want to see them. I think they are a given, but I wouldn't mind if they aren't present are the asari. I kinda also like to see the salarians and the quarian (especially if they were out of their exo-suits.)

I'm also pretty excited about meeting new alien races. I agree with a poster above that it be cool to meet aliens with varying degrees of technology. A less advanced race may want to worship you as Gods. How do you handle it? A reagade PC could be all over that and use them to gather resources (as offerings).

I'm not sure what to make of the batarians. The original trilogy really screwed them around by making them the hardcore human-hating lot without really developing them much further than that, only to nearly wipe out their entire civilization off-screen.

To Quote myself from another thread:

This is probably the only species whose disappearance from the franchise would make me legitimately mad, I always felt there were so many missed opportunities to flesh them out, especially in ME3 where their species was hit the hardest by the Reapers and a batarian squadmate would have made perfect sense.

That's also the reason I hope they're playing a more prominent role in ME:A. More than most other species, theirs needs to find a new home and has to struggle with making up for what they lost in the reaper war. The Hegemony is basically destroyed and they're at the verge of a new beginning and that could just as well take place in Andromeda. I could definitely see a big enough Group of Batarians seeing their future in that galaxy instead of the one where everything they had built over the centuries has just been destroyed.

Batarians have been treated like the punching bags of the galaxy so far, I really hope that Bioware will do them justice this time. They're my #1 species that has to make it to Andromeda, I don't have any strong feelings regarding the other ones. The council races are a given anyway.

Quarian Tech is still based on the Proteans technology that they found, but like the Humans, they didn't find any protean Tech on their homeworld. They had to go out there and find relays in space and protean stuff on other nearby planets.

If we never see the Vorcha again, I really would have no problem with that.  I pretty much hate the Vorcha.  "Oh, let's make a race who's defining characteristic is that they are stupid and bloodthirsty".  Borning, borning and oh so boring.  Otherwise, I'd love to see all the trilogy races back.  I'd love to see more done with the Hanar, the Elcor and the Volus.

Well humans, Asari and Krogan (if the leak is genuine) are more or less confirmed, and I guess they will add some new races to the mix as well.

I would like to hear that (almost) all races are still alive. And if not, then why? Batarians could extinct, for example, or Krogans, Drells, Quanari/Geth. (I know there's one Krogan in the trailer) Also, I'd like to se new races from both galaxies - Andromeda and MilkyWay (of course, more from the new one).

I feel about the same. Want to see the Batarians become more than just "lulz bad guyz" and show more diversity so having them in Andromeda would be great

Hopefully as it is a new galaxy we will see races that are not carbon based.

I want more Asari

And I don't mind seeing any other race , I just hope they could work on them a bit more . I don't wanna see more Shallow Asari that act like Teenager or Stripper for pete Sake . I don't want to see anymore Quarian that act like they are sewer dweller , doing quest on Ilum suggested they had beautiful things going for them but all we see is Imbecile Admiral biquering ugh...

I don't mind seeing Drell , hanar or Turians . Elcore or Krogan..or volus..or any other specie I may have forgotten .

I guess what I mean is , get out of the Mold that was put for them in the Serie of Mass effect . If this game is mean to be new and moving on from the old Trilogy...then , everything should be familiar but also new .

As for new specie...

Something like the Trill would be nice . While cat like specie seem popular , I think its overdone . We have the cathar in Star Wars and countless other games already

Maybe sea sentient ? Or something that live in a Toxic world....but not as fugly as the vorcha..yurk .

For me Turians (my favorite race), Krogans, and Salarians are mandatory races to be in the game.  I would be unhappy without turians in Mass Effect. We already know Krogan and Humans are in Andromeda and Asari are one of the most iconic aliens in the game, the alien that people identify with Mass Effect. No way they're going to leave them out. To some extent Turians and salarians are iconic races as well, though not at a parity with Asari (who had a lot of screen time in fact we know more about them than the other council ETs).

I also find the hanar and elcor very amusing and the batarians interesting, though their inclusion is unlikely. Really the only race in ME I didn't like (please resist the urge to pelt me with spoiled or acutely pointed objects) were the asari.

For new races I hope we have a catlike race. We have avian raptors, salamander/frog people, jellyfish, elephantlike creatures, dextro humans, whatever heck the yahg is an analogue to, spider/crustacean bug things, more birds (raloi), Fish/frog people, blue space women, samurai bug people, cockroach people, and hideously deformed four-eyed humans. So why not catlike people?

Think of the variety of colors and patterns! Cats are beautiful animals. Also a plant race would be amazeballs as well.

Cat like race.... Shekhmu? But I agree it would be nice to have a race that has fur for a change, if the engine is better. Be it cat like, bear like, wolf like whatever. Chewbacca anyone?

I think asari, salarians and krogans are pretty much confirmed. Turians are definately gonna be in, so many people would throw a fit if they werent. Whats not sure if drell, elcor, volus, hanar, batarians, quarians/geth and vorcha are in. I dont think well see yahg or raloi, sadly.

Heres a list of races/ideas id like to see put in motion:

- a four armed bipedal creature

- A large worm like creature

- A furry creature

- Vaguely plant or mushroom like creature

- Small, weak creature that uses mech suit to augment its power and presence

- Silicon based sapient lifeform

- Symbiont race(2 races that are dependent of one another)
