Good point. No mass relays, no mass effect.

And for the topic, everyone else except batarians.

Mass Effect wasn't only the mass relays

They could pull a Stargate on us and magically have humans in another galaxies. Just recton it with some background story about how alien people wasted time taking humans from Earth. Or recton it again with how we are descendants of aliens who look exactly like us, yet we have none of their abilities or advanced technology.

All of the races from the original games, as well as new ones.

A race around andromeda is mandatory, it helps building stamina.

Mass Effect wasn't only the mass relays

But the Mass Relays are one of the, if not the, main icons of the franchise.

One of them, yes. But not a completely necessary one

Not completely necessary? Erm, the story of the games wouldn't happen with the Mass Relays. Humanity would never have left Sol and made contact with the Turians. Hell, the Asari would never have found the Citadel and met the Salarians and the Council would never have been formed. There wouldn't be the Mass Effect Universe without the Mass Relays.

They aren't necessary for this story, since we appear to only be in a cluster

They aren't necessary for this story, since we appear to only be in a cluster

For their to be planets that can sustain life, each star in the cluster will have to be far away from each other, making the cluster absolutely massive to the point where Mass Relays are needed for convenient travel.

A cluster with hundreds of star systems and hundreds of planets to explore, according to the leak. For their to be planets that can sustain life, each star will have to be far away from each other, making the cluster absolutely massive to the point where Mass Relays are needed for convenient travel.

We didn't need the relays in the Trilogy to travel to other clusters we don't need them now to do so

No we used them to get to other systems, not clusters

Clusters are bigger than systems. So if we needed them to travel between systems, we definitely needed them to travel between clusters.

Oh wait your right, I got the two names mixed up

Sending the highly violent and fast breeding Krogan to a new galaxy, may not be the strategy that the people deciding who goes to Andromeda want to adopt.

On the other hand, we are going to have a Krogan companion.

I doubt we will see Batarians (they're pretty much dead, and were outcasts before) or Quarians (they may be dead and were pretty much outcasts before), Drells (they were very few in numbers and not the best suited to most environments) or Hanar (they don't seem like the kind useful during the expedition into the unknown).

Volus are a must though, I mean nobody else seem to know anything about economy, so a volus banker would come in handy, otherwise the colonists in Andromeda will be paying in seashells, or something like that.

All council races should be there however. And I'm hoping for interesting new races as well (they have created 10 races for original trilogy? 12 counting Protheans and Geth + there were vorcha) so they seem to have plenty of ideas (and each race was unique).

However we used the Mass Relays to travel to different clusters, in ME:A it looks like we're only in one

That bird race that started to destroy their own satellites so the Reapers will spare them as a non-space faring civilization.

They sounded cool.

Seriously people, have you even played the game? Or ... I don't know... paid attention during intro biology?

Not even once does anyone in the game talk about races. They are always talking about species.

The difference between races and species is enormous, you can't just confuse them.

Oh whatever, I give up.

I´ d love to have at least one non-humanoid, truly alien species in the game - maybe something along the lines of "Rorschach" and the "Scramblers" from Peter Watts´ novel "Blindsight". Probably not going to happen, but I surely hope they´ll come up with some interesting new stuff.

Quarians minus Suits.  They've had time to redevelop their immune systems, and could have internalized their envirosuit functions now.

If the cluster has as many stars and planets as the leak suggests, it is a much larger cluster than the ones we visited before. Hundreds or even thousands of light years big. We needed Mass Relays for that distance of travel.

No we don't, in the past game we only needed fuel and we still FTL travel with also has Mass Effect fields, just like how Biotics have it
