I want a Batarian squadmate. A soldier/vanguard who has a personality that is a healthy mix of Grunt, Zaeed and Vega. Big, strong and a bit of a sadistic humor. I also want a Vorcha crew member on my ship, preferably as the guy in charge of the ships weapons. He needs to be hyper active, and bizarre.

I am almost certain there will be...
Humans
Asari
Krogan
Turians
Salarians
But the rest I am much less sure about. I suspect we will get Quarians because they are so popular amongst a fan segment (even though it makes little sense for them to go) and some humorous species like Volus and one of Elcor, Hanar or Vorcha.
I think it more unlikely we will get Batarians, Geth, or Drell which is a bit of a pity. But they do need to make room for new things.

I personally would think that the Asari, Turians, Salarians, Volus, Elcor, and Hanar would all be in the game. All are council/council affiliated species, so it would be weird to build a ark and leave one of them behind. We know the krogan will be in the game and I would be pretty sure they would not leave out Quarians.
This really leaves out the Drell, Batarians and Vocha. Not sure about the Vorcha, but it would be an a-hole move to leave all the Drell and Batarians to perish.
Honestly, I would expect and want every Milky Way species I listed to be in the game in some type of capacity, except maybe the Vorcha.

I guess the other possibility is to have them all taken on the Ark in terms of lore, but simply don't show them in game like the Raloi for instance. They do need space to introduce new species.
In a way that is safer since if they decide they want to add them later they are not blocked. Plus the justification for some races they want to add is difficult to make above some others, but if you are taking all intelligent species you get around that.

Do not recall ever hearing about the Raloi before. I do not expect all of the races to have major roles, but at least be background characters in hub areas or for minor/certain side quests. I get what you are saying though who knows how the game will approach this or even how many andromedan aliens they have/introduce.

Hey,
got another, well "race" (as much as Blacks, Asians, Indians etc. are a "race" (I mean we call hatred of those groups "racism" or "racial bigotry")):
I want to see some Ardat-Yakshi (!) - particularly because I have a theory of my own about them (!):
What if that (a race that kills and gets stronger by doing so) was exactly what the Protheans (well, the scientists who made them) intended when they genetically modified the Asari (or what a fringe group of them wanted in order to grab power or something...rogue scientists aren't a new problem after all (*cough* Cerberus *cough*))? They'd be the perfect soldier (their condition would make them enjoy fighting and killing and compel them to do it and love it!)...if you can control them, that is!
I mean a slave-race consistent of "natural" biotics that get stronger the longer they fight and kill using their mind-rape technique (I mean Morinth was easily as strong as her mother, an Asari who was centuries older (and she might have rivaled a matriarch in time, despite not being one age-wise!)), but can't reproduce? (They would be dependent on the Protheans in order to live on as a race, so that might be an option to keep them docile! I mean we don't know if they can get pregnant by mind-murdering somebody, but if they can't? Well, food for thought!)
Well, I'd love that (might give us either a darker character (struggling with who and what she is - or even enjoying it like Morinth did (note: I think that's only part of it, Morinth also kills because it makes her stronger, something she desperately needs in order to be able to fend off her mother/other justicars etc.), meaning a really dark character (maybe with a redemption-angle for paragons!). Or the exact opposite, a character who knows what she is and has accepted it (like Morinth's sisters who accepted being locked up!))
Hell, there might be a personal story/quest-line where you can look into the possibility of a cure (!) - something a dark ("I enjoy it!") Ardat-Yakshi wouldn't accept but another ("I want to live a normal live!") might embrace wholeheartedly!
Well, just my thoughts ![]()
greets LAX
ps: Maybe the "normal" Asari are the rejects (just like those Krogan Okeer didn't want because they weren't "perfect"/pure Krogan!) that some other group (the one the "godess" Athame comes from!) found worthwhile (despite their flaws - I mean the Asari aren't creatures of action, they aren't even the best soldiers (despite being the strongest biotics around!), no they are actually in a way quite lazy and always play a long game (they can afford it after all!)...no wounder matriarch Aethyta was disgusted and would rather tend bar (and spy on Liara) then try to force the other Asari to listen to her (despite being RIGHT!))

It makes perfect sense for the Quarians to go. They are the experts at living on ships which will be required, one way or another.
Please explain (and you're not the only one, I know) the interest in the Batarians and Drell though. The Batarians we get to know a bit about at least but they are just assholes throughout the series. We meet 1-3 Drell depending on what you play

I like your idea, but we already had "a rare genetic defect" turn into "as many Banshees as we need," so I do not want any more Ardat-Yakshi. Their purpose was for Morinth to be one for Samara's arc.

MW Race Summary
Five, I count, are the major races from the ME Trilogy. These, not only had significant presence in the games but also had strong influence in the politics. I'm speaking about the Asari, Salarians, Humans, Krogans and Turians. Three others need to be mentioned,,. Geth, Quarians and Drell. The remaining I count as fillers for story/plot purposes.
SQUAD Speculation from "leaked document(s)"
Andromeda is a human centric story. Therefore, except for the beginning of the game (ie: loyalty mission recruitment = krogan for one), the story will focus on the humans and the "new aliens". With a squad limit of six + human, what is its race composition, if we add the LI into the mix?
Hm... our dear LI is someone we need to bring along as a squad member. To satisfy the non hetero requirements, add two more humans to the squad. Add Cora as the new alien LI and that makes three + the PC. The Krogan makes four + PC. One Asari, satisfies both human gender LI and that make five + PC. The sixth? That's up for grabs.
Other MW Races
Any other races we see in the game are fillers for "familiarity" purposes.
Helius Cluster Races
We have the Khet, the vanished Remnant and a new alien LI. As we go deeper into the cluster we will encounter many more, especially if we discover a HUB like station as in Babylon 5. Using the HUB as a plot device gives the writers all kinds of story venues to generate quests and to paint the canvass for the cluster's races and politics.
What do you guys think?

All Council space races should be there. That includes the Elcor, Hanar, and Volus who need to stop being treated as joke races by the writers but as serious and important parts of MW society. Less "Elcor Hamlet", "Blasto the Hanar Spectre", and "Biotic God" and more depth please.

None. I prefer this be a human thing and we start over with new races in the other galaxy. I know this will not happen, but it is my dear wish for it too. Just please god no asari. Don't need to bring along our mary sue. Let's just leave it behind.

The Volus were shown in different and more deserving situations in the games. Elcor and Hanar, a bit less, but it's not like other species didnt' have their idiotic moments.

The thing is that it made zero sense the humans are the only one in Andromeda, even more so in certain theories.
The asari thing always made me laugh. Regardless of the opinion a person has on them, is someone seriously expecting Bioware to drop them off? I think there are really low chances the three main Council species won't be in.
Anyway, I think asari and/or salarian were kind of mentioned in some 'secret' conventions the year before the trailer.

For me Turians (my favorite race), Krogans, and Salarians are mandatory races to be in the game. I would be unhappy without turians in Mass Effect. We already know Krogan and Humans are in Andromeda and Asari are one of the most iconic aliens in the game, the alien that people identify with Mass Effect. No way they're going to leave them out. To some extent Turians and salarians are iconic races as well, though not at a parity with Asari (who had a lot of screen time in fact we know more about them than the other council ETs).
I also find the hanar and elcor very amusing and the batarians interesting, though their inclusion is unlikely. Really the only race in ME I didn't like (please resist the urge to pelt me with spoiled or acutely pointed objects) were the asari.
For new races I hope we have a catlike race. We have avian raptors, salamander/frog people, jellyfish, elephantlike creatures, dextro humans, whatever heck the yahg is an analogue to, spider/crustacean bug things, more birds (raloi), Fish/frog people, blue space women, samurai bug people, cockroach people, and hideously deformed four-eyed humans. So why not catlike people?
Think of the variety of colors and patterns! Cats are beautiful animals. Also a plant race would be amazeballs as well.
Can we have NASCAR?

It would be interesting to see a developed Volus non player character, one, one that can relate to and not totally used for comic effect. But also the other species as well, because it is Mass Effect. Also another species that doesn't share the common evolutionary history of the established species. It would be interesting to try to communicate with something truly alien. Having as a party member an acid blooded, parasitic alien species with nebulous motivations, interesting. What would "romancing" such a thing mean, is it cooperating for the objectives of the mission or its own unspecified objectives. But really, if I can conceive it currently, perhaps, things that I don't conceive.

Must disagree with you on this one. The Blue One must be our Team's Power Biotic.
Bringing a Krogan but not an Asari makes no sense as they were a major theme in the trilogy.

Perhaps, but for the struggling human colonists a Volus is just extra baggage.

I hear the khet are going to look similar. I wonder if they'll have a smaller mouth.I would like to see the Aliens like in the Aliens movies and instead of hostile they are friendly and you can talk to them.

The only thing I can say right now that I never want to see added is furry species, or anything approximating furry species. Cat people, rabbit people, fox people, etc... that crap is lame to me. It doesn't belong in scifi, in my opinion. Perhaps someone could write it in a compelling way, but I'm not really enthused by the idea, and think there are many far more worthy directions to go. Species of those sorts have far too many ties to fantasy tropes to bother, in my opinion.
Cat people are to fictional beings as katanas are to theoretical arms. Burn them with fire. Keep them out of my games.

I'm not talking sense or even the plausibility of it. I'm sure what I want isn't likely to happen, but I would prefer a real reboot (since we are going down that road). I am not attached to most of the races in the game so removing them isn't a huge deal for me. Asari are just so mary-sue god I would prefer Turians or Krogan over Asari. Literally anything. I can't stand their attitude.

Going to andromeda isn't even feasible nor makes any sense either. That doesn't mean we still aren't doing it. This post was about what I wanted. I don't like Asari. For a species that lives so damn long they are incredibly short sighted and naive. Don't get me wrong humans can be quite mary-sueish, but Asari take that to level 10. I would prefer we spend more time on less annoying and ill written characters.
