Is MEA really the best title for this game?

Every time I see MEA followed by a short word, my first thought is "mea culpa." I am sure I will get used to this new abbreviation soon, but for now it is throwing me off and making me think of just one thing: "crap, we ruined the Milky Way so horrendously we had to leave it. Mea Culpa!"

Yes. Or rather, I much prefer subtitles vs. a number.

Won't like I thought about  "mea coulpa for those endings" when I saw the title. I liked a suggested Mass Effect Pathfinder title we were juggling few months ago but I guess Andromeda subtitle is more attractive marketing-wise. It's the same in multiple languages, spells out the game's setting/progression from Milky Way trilogy and sounds "grand". Ohh well, just a title afterall

They should call it Mass Effect: Helius (as in the helius cluster...)

So, it could be shortened to MEH.

;)

I don't see the problem with calling it Mass Effect 4.

It's a Mass Effect game, and it's set in Andromeda.

That's about as "exactly what it says on the tin" as you can get.

Well, MEA works for a lot of things.

Mass Effect: Again?

Mass Effect: Alright, you win. You were right after all.

Mass Effect: As if we were going to just let this die.

Mass Effect: Acquire currency, disregard whiners.

I think that the real reason is that they didn't want folks to assume this game would be a continuation of Shepard's story outside of the core fanbase.  Calling the game ME4 would have probably sent that message.  Also, emphasizing Andromeda, going to a new galaxy, only reinforces the post-Shepard game even further.

I've read some theories on TVTropes that state that Thedas is in the same universe as ME, or even in the Milky Way either pre-Shepard or post-Shepard.

There's a planet in Mass Effect called Amaranthine, which you visit to see Helena Blake after killing the other crime lords.

Well, in the Trophy Room in the Winter Palace in Orlais there's a Krogan head mounted on the wall.

Yeah, I noticed that right away.  There is also some statues in the Fade that reminded me of the Inusannon.

I think it's a lot like the Ogre in Kasumi's DLC.  It's probably a shout-out, especially since writers from both teams have worked on these games before.

Revengence is actually a real word. It's just an archaic word that's fallen out of use. It shows up in U.S. court documentation at the very least.
