Here are my concerns.

I hope they borrow the differentiated female/male walking styles from DA. I'm aware that a lot of people find the female DAI walk to be over exaggeratedly hip swingy. I'm fine with it myself, but I'd be happy with a toned down version. My main thing is I'd rather not have a female PC who swings her arms as widely and aggressively as Shepard did. FemShep didn't have the muscle mass that MShep did, so on her, it just looked weird to me.

I hope we have some sleek, relatively elegant armor options. I don't prioritize realism or grit when it comes to armor aesthetics, and I've seen some early armor design samples that make it seem like that's exactly what they'll be going for. I'm not jumping to conclusions, I promise, just hoping that I might get to put my PC in something I enjoy looking at.

That goes for casual, non armor options as well.

Finally, hair. Yes, hair. I know I might regret being the first one (as far as I know) to bring this up.

Bioware, I don't think hair has ever been a particular proficiency of yours. I've only occasionally played one of your games where I had an option that I was actually happy with, and I usually end up envying the hairstyles of other female characters, like Diana Allers and Josephine, or the default FemShep in ME3 (I always customize the character's appearance, because I just enjoy the CC that much).

I am really hope for a wider variety of hair options than Bioware has generally, historically provided.

Your thoughts on the aesthetics of the coming installment?

Pretty much agree with everything. Though I'm rather baffled by people seemingly thinking BioWare makes the worst hair in the industry. BioWare hair is not great, but I really can't think of any video games that have what I'd call 'great' hair, and definitely not RPGs. Maybe the girl in the new Assassin's Creed that came bundled with my Xbox which I played for an hour and haven't touched since? She had nice hair.

It would be a nice feature for female protagonists to have options for 'on duty' and 'off duty' hairstyles. Obviously with a neat animation or two of her pulling her hair out of her face on the inevitable mission where she's caught off guard and has to fight without armor.

Eh I hope ME:A has female animations close to ME not DA. I want my PC to move like soldier and fighter. Personally I'm hoping gender-neutral animations for both sexes not sth exeggarated and akward.

Cowboy hat. Space revolver. Duster. Leather boots. 12 gauge shotgun. Cigarettes. I'm good.

Everything from long hair to spiked hair.

I want separate animations for female and male. Especially sitting. Especially if the female character is wearing a dress. Yikes.

I am a bit of a "girly-girl" and my characters follow the same formula usually, so:

#1 Cosmetics are a plus (maybe it will only show up off-duty)

#2 Different body animations. I hip sway when I walk and it is just natural given my wide hips, so a hip sway that is noticeable but not exaggerated is good with me. Please let her cross her legs when she sits. No open leg peep shows when wearing a short dress.

#3 Off-duty clothing (stuff that shows of my characters sexy side, form fitting)

#4 Off-duty hairstyles (as mentioned above) especially if a military bun becomes long hair when off-duty

#5 I know body customization is a resource drain, but a few posters have stated that they want the female protagonist to be muscular and bulky. I want as close an approximation to myself (not entirely possible as I am quite short), but I would prefer my 'biotic' character be slender and curvy, agile and flexible. So the option to customize the body shape would be great.

Speaking of armor...

I'm hoping this time around all squadmates are fully covered and have optional helmets. Breath masks and exposed skin doesn't quite cut it!

Mostly what I want to see out of the cc is

  • much better hair than we've had in previous bioware games, not just in graphic quality but in styles, longer ones and ones in complicated braids and updos. And decent short hairs for guys and girls not just many variations on balding/stubbled
  • Body customization - if we can't have body sliders than atleast different body types you can select from.  eg. instead of just having big muscly for guys and petite for women, include a slim for guys and a muscly for women, other body types too. Variety is good.

As for it being trivial, games features tend to divide up into Story, Gameplay, and Visual, I may not think hair or how the pc walks is as important as the story but its definitely high up there in the visual section. We spend large amounts of the game staring at peoples heads while they talk or watching our character run around, how well that is done makes a difference.

I know and accept that the hair will be atrocious. There has yet to be one hair style in the ME series that I didn't think was "ugly", and DA... ugh. I mean, I suppose they have that hipster combed side fade which was at least tolerable but... still. Ugh.

I second sleek armour. Don't much care for grit, and especially don't care for bulk.

I'd really like separate on duty/ off-duty hair styles as well as outfits. I'd like some braided and long hair styles. I was so jealous of Miranda and ME3 Ashley. If you can make a hairstyle for a companion, why can't you make it available to the PC?

Completely agree with this. Being able to have my character both look and act in a manner that fits how I want them to is a huge part of what makes games like those BW make so enjoyable for me. And while its something they do pretty well for the most part (barring hair for example, I love DA:I's CC), certain aspects, such as the two you mention, are really lacking.

With regards the animations, whatever they do, I really hope BW make them less exaggerated. I find their male ones look bad on many men I play - not all of us are hulking gorillas - let alone how bad they look on women when both use the same one, whereas when they have female animations, the "feminitiny" of the walking/running, in particular they hip sway, is excessive. Not saying there shouldn't be some swaying in there, but most women don't walk like Hawke did, especially not when they're a trained military operative on a mission....

I want hair physics.I would like for the hair to move with the protagonist like morrigan's hair did in DAI (the bioware hair is like they super glued a one piece color detailed clay wig onto their heads) I would love if they added a hair color pallete in addition to the slider so you could choose your own hair color, and in addition to that have a check box option to match brow and facial hair color so if you wantedy ou could pick their respective color on your own.(Hated how my  quizzy  had blonde hair and it made her eyebrows yellow.)

Continued of above if we could have longer hair and more hairstyles for the guys and girls that would be great.

Next if we could have a option to have a visor equipped in addition to a helmet and have two respected check box options like mass effect did,what I mean here is that their would be an  option to remove helmets and visors in convos or  remove helmets and keep visors in convo.(I loved the visors in mass effect but i also liked wearing helmets) {So when an appilcable helmet was worn (like the N7 breather) you could see the visor's eye part}

Now, if it is not a plot point in the future for this new protagonist i would love  if we had the option to add some facial cybernetics like shep had if (s)he was a renegade or  like the illusive man's and Saren's eyes (obviously it wouldn't be progressive) we would get to choose the color and how severe it was and if it would be the whole face or just the eyes.

Yes on all three, and I think they particularly resonate with female protagonist players. The fact that Bioware so frequently drops the ball on this kind of thing make me think that (at least with the animations and design team) that the female option is always just an afterthought.

I don't really need excessively feminized animations (not that I hate them either) but just recycling the male animations looks terrible, the two characters have different bodies, it doesn't work! Seriously, watch the cutscenes in DAI - the inquisitor looked like she was doing her best gorilla impression, and yet outside of cutscenes she moves around normally.

Totally with you on the sleek armours too. One of the few things that disappointed me going from ME to ME2 was how much bulkier the armour was. My class was engineer and I went from zipping around in this sexy bodysuit in ME, then in ME2 and ME3 I have to wear a big clunky tanksuit. It might look cool on male Shepard, and I'm sure some people like it on femshep too, but I personally think that sleeker, more form-fitting armour are more flattering on the female characters (although I personally I missed Kaidan being dressed up in sleek armour in ME3 too ;P).

And while I'm sure there were some people who were thrilled to get to choose between like 12 different buzzcuts in DAI, when we compare what we got in game to what we saw in concept art, is it any wonder so many people were disappointed? They don't even have to make long flowing hairstyles that move around, there are plenty of up-dos and short hair style that are actually cute, they just have to go to the trouble of actually making them.

If BW don't go for gender neutral movement, which would be the easy cheaper option, then I really hope the female pc is given her own skeleton rig and animation. The copy and paste of the manly male rig seriously isn't working well, ME wasn't great but female elves and dwarves in DAI were truly awful at times. Their arms hang at weird angles and they're legs can be so far spread that they're practically doing the splits.

I can make FemShep being a bit male-like in her actions work with a tiny bit of headcanon but I absolutely hated how she seemed to hover when interacting with something because the cinematic was made for MaleShep and she was a badly done afterthought.

I totally agree with the option for sleek armour, but I also want the choice for bulky or heavy armour. I almost exclusively play vanguard, so having the heavy armour just makes more sense for my PC lore-wise. It'd be great to have different options that you can pick depending on how you play and the class your PC is. Especially if we can customize it, similar (or even improved upon  ) to all the colours and different pieces in ME3. (Also I'm so on board the space cowboy hype train I would love to be able to wear a duster or armour styled to look like one.)

Also, I know this would be tough and resource draining, but I'd love to have the option to choose between different body types. As I said, I play vanguard, so having a buff lady PC would be awesome for me! And then a friend of mine, who always plays engineer, could have a slimmer body to go with the less action-oriented combat.

For the CC, I'd love something very similar to DA:I. I could get so many unique, interesting faces out of it, and all the little details made it super fun to create various characters. I do hope they have better hairstyles. tbh I'm always a fan of more buzzcuts and undercuts (sporting one myself B) ), or long hair that doesn't look either baked on or like a middle aged white suburban mom hairstyle. Plus the option to customize eyebrow colour independent of hair colour. And, well, eyebrows that don't look like they belong on some sort of animal.

Oh, and I want tattoos. Especially if we can get them throughout the game, that would be such a cool and interesting way to roleplay.

(Is it too much to ask for a semi-customizable captain's quarters? Buying a bunch of fish and models is one thing, I'd totally love to decide on decorations and knickknacks and the like. Although that may be my age-old Sims fangirl resurfacing  :P )

Ah well, I was going to say the exact same thing. Plus the fact, that I'd prefer some normal walk and poses for the female character (no gorilla, no Bayonetta, if I have to give two exteme exemples). I mean, I'm pretty tomboyish myself, but I still don't walk and act like a gorilla, and I can't imagine a soldier walking around as if she was on some fashion catwalk. I'm an animator myself, watching FShep walk was distressing to me, which was why I spent my time charging...

You asking for different walking styles sounds like a simple request, but one that involves alot of animation to mesh with all the different body styles that could potentially be made in character creation.

I agree, a slender male or female wouldn't walk the same way as a bulky one, if we really want to be picky in animation, and even then, you can have many variations. This is why I would settle for one male bodytype and one female bodytype, but each with their own animation, not just copy and past the male animation on the female body for the cutscenes. As for the walk, they must already have a pretty good mocap bank of animations after DAI. I don't know how importable those are from one game to another and I don't know how permeable the work from one production to another is within Bioware, but it might not be as costly as we'd first believe.

Better armor and custumization of said armors .

Toggle helmet on and off

Better hair and separate Hair (not too girly either)

Tattoo ! bring them back ! No wait..I mean scars ! or both  :P

As for the walk...ugh..I'm with you there . Femshep running in kasumi mission in that dress

finally , local clothes ? would be nice if we had a wider range . We had some in Me2 but I only liked one . And I hope when they make the hair , this time they make it better but Also..one thing that annoyed me . Sharing hair with NPC..seeing Dr.chakwa Hair on my cc...really ? I don't want to be the twin of someone I'm about to meet .
