Hmm. This is where I feel like I'm in the minority. I'm not necessarily attached to FemHawke's hip swinging, but I didn't have a problem with it either, and I rather liked some of her idle poses.
I don't know that you're in the minority. You're definitely on the side that is 'winning' right now, at least in terms of walk / run animations in DA.
I actually take some issue with the perception that stereotypically feminine behaviors/movements/dress are incompatible with badassery. I'd like to see more of that in conjunction.
The issue (for me, at least) is that a lot of those behaviors aren't innate, they're learned, at least for some of us. I've not forgotten the time when my oldest sister tried to teach me to 'walk like a girl'. Fortunately (for both of us) she gave up fairly quickly. I don't walk macho or girly - I just walk as a means of locomotion. A lot of side-to-side hip movement is really inefficient, and doesn't work very well for someone engaged in any sort of athletic activity, such as combat. In fact, I'd feel pretty safe in betting that any woman who carries the kinds of responsibilities that our PCs have would not be putting forth the extra effort and energy to be doing it in a girly way. I've never seen a woman in authority walking like Hawke or the Inquisitor.
But here's the thing: a lot of what is behind the cultural perception of femininity relies on women appearing 1) sexually receptive and 2) vulnerable, and in need of male protection. In order for stereotypically feminine movements to be viewed as more compatible with badassery, that association / perception would need to change.
I've tried to duplicate the Hawke / Inquisitor walk, and couldn't do it. IIRC, I believe Natashina has had the same experience. I don't believe I've ever seen an actual human woman walk like that. There may be a few who can and do, but they are in the minority. Most real people in the real world use a much more neutral, more efficient gait.
Or potentially, the option to have that in conjunction. I don't want it to be forced on people.
That said, you may have a point there.
I still want dresses.
You got 'em, at least in ME. I didn't like the requirement for Kasumi's LM or the Casino gig, but haven't complained about it - in both cases, it's just one scene, and I chose to live with it instead of asking for other options.
The walk animation, however, is not negotiable. I can't play a character who walks like Hawke/Inquisitor, not for an entire game.

I would love more clothing options for when on ship and on hubworlds. And to be able to customize our squadmates clothing as well aside from having a new "armor appearance."

Sorry not at all on topic but saw the mention of the three and felt the need to post a picture of them ![]()

On topic as far as animations go while I personally would prefer something more neutral for both genders I'll settle for the animations being consistent I don't want another DAI where my Inquisitor is suddenly walking with the male animations in any cut scenes then goes right back to the female animation during game play. Makes the female animation feel utterly pointless and imo like it was only added so you can stare at a swinging ass while playing as a female.

I adore Catwoman, but I adore Ivy more.

Really? I liked it too, but not really better than the sequels. Was it because everyone was wearing actual armor, as opposed to things like catsuits and lab coats?
I liked the armour better in ME 1. I felt they had a lot more options and variety, as well as preferring the look of them.
I also liked the overall aesthetic of the citadel, along with preferring the music in terms of the score better. I found that the use of brighter lighting and brighter blues not only made more sense technologically (it would be easier for people to see) but also practical, because it was actually easier for me to see and read the prompts and signs.
In ME 2, it took me a long time to get past all the dark red, and the white against dark blue text fields and area signs, because there was so little contrast that it was difficult to read and sort out the HUD information.
They also did mention that the female outfit not being hyper sexualized is something they're looking at extending to the casual wear.

A small small part of me kind of wants to be able to walk around in our underwear I used to do that sometimes when playing origins at the weirdest of times for little to no reason other than a childish laugh while imagining what my companions must be thinking putting their trust in me.
