I hope we have some sleek, relatively elegant armor options. I don't prioritize realism or grit when it comes to armor aesthetics, and I've seen some early armor design samples that make it seem like that's exactly what they'll be going for. I'm not jumping to conclusions, I promise, just hoping that I might get to put my PC in something I enjoy looking at.

I prefer the sleeker armor designs as well. While it may not factor into your preferences, I'd argue the sleeker designs are actually more realistic than the bulkier, heavier looking ones. Mobility is as important for soldiers or Marines as protection, so once you start getting into designs that appear to trade mobility for protection you're also getting into designs that no real world military organization would ever be likely to adopt.

One of the things  I loved about Mass Effect's aesthetics when it came to armor, is that the Alliance marines didn't look like Warhammer space marines.

Eh I hope ME:A has female animations close to ME not DA. I want my PC to move like soldier and fighter. Personally I'm hoping gender-neutral animations for both sexes not sth exeggarated and akward.

Same here. The male walking animation felt way too gorilla like on males too. And the female felt like she is walking on hight hells. (hard to do, when wearing Dalish armour, who doesn't have shoes.)

And no more noodle arms for the female characters. I always wanted to feed FemShep in ME3. Hoodie forever for her. And out of that horrible cocktail dress after Citadel! Girl, I can hear your bones snaps from here: put on that hoodie NOW, so I don't have to fear for your life!

I'd really like the chance to modify the female body. I'd like when I play a female soldier to have her more muscular and more robust. If she is a sniper or someone who must be more agile, having her more slim and with smaller breast size to have a more "dancer" feeling. Actually, is the same for the male character. Sometimes I want a ridicolously beefy mass of muscle, sometime a thin guy.

Armour...where ok in ME. But I'm not a fan of overly feminine stuff. yet I'm all for more way to have different textures. I'd love to make some ridicolous pink armored male character!

I'd like better short hair, or hair in general. Less buzzcut, and no more balding in female characters. that was really bad.

Cowboy hat with futuristic duster coat and space revolver.

If Marty Robbins "Big Iron" doesn't play at least once, I'm going to be hella disappointed, tbh

So long as we don't see a return of Mass Effect 2's animation, with Shepard's head looking like the spine was coming loose.

ya mean when she run and her head is down like it weigh too much ? hum..I dont know . Me3 animation of running to me felt worse..it was like shepard sat too long on a horse and was hurting..like hell

I do find the girl animations generally to be overdone. I would rather just see a neutral walk with a few differences between the males and females, sort of a... wandering around the mall walk. I want a walk devoid of personality.

I want armour that is slick but looks and feels like armour. I want my character protected, no boob or midriff windows (not that I think they'd do this) and I do not want pink armour. I always hate seeing Ashley in ME1 in that glaring white and pink armour - have you never heard of camouflage, ******?

As for hair, I want a couple up-do or braided styles, not just the one bun. I personally don't like the longer chin length options because I don't feel they're military enough for my character, and I'm not a fan of short hair.

*These are all just my personal opinions; I understand you may play your characters completely differently from me.

Just for hair and I know this is probably a long-shot given that BioWare like AMD and not Nvidia but if possible I'd like something like Hairworks (Nvidia) which has been amazing in Witcher 3. I know it's a eye-candy thing that adds nothing to plot or story but it looks really good, and realistic.

As for Armor I'd like it to be sleek and less bulky than some of the heavy armor from the previous games.

They like to trumpet how they can take elements from other games because they're all using Frostbite, so I hope they keep the face generator from DAI, which was excellent, and spend their character customisation budget on making much better hair.

I want Garrus' visor for myself. X)
I was so jelly he got to look cool and not me (._.)
I'd like a Dragon Ball scooter~
The visors we've got all looked kinda funny and I felt like I was a mad scientist.

I hope new default female mc is hot so I can finally play as a female. XD
I suck at customizing my character, I'm not really patient and default characters almost always look better than customized ones without mods imo.
Femshep body looks weird to me, especially in her ME2 dress. Her boobs too X)
I doesn't mind manspreading for female mc except when she would wear a dress. (Never gonna wear a dress tho)

I'd like more civilian clothes and a suit and tie outfit would be sweet, even for female mc.

I doubt there will be any use for long hair in Andromeda but my hair is still available if Bioware wants to use it to come up with some styles for the PC or NPCs.

Seriously. This comes up before every Bioware game, and every time we head to CC and are like, "Aww...well, NEXT TIME"

I thought FemShep looked better in the dress in ME2. It was the animation that killed it though.

Here are my concerns.

I hope they borrow the differentiated female/male walking styles from DA. I'm aware that a lot of people find the female DAI walk to be over exaggeratedly hip swingy. I'm fine with it myself, but I'd be happy with a toned down version. My main thing is I'd rather not have a female PC who swings her arms as widely and aggressively as Shepard did. FemShep didn't have the muscle mass that MShep did, so on her, it just looked weird to me.

I hope we have some sleek, relatively elegant armor options. I don't prioritize realism or grit when it comes to armor aesthetics, and I've seen some early armor design samples that make it seem like that's exactly what they'll be going for. Finally, hair. Yes, hair. I know I might regret being the first one (as far as I know) to bring this up.

Bioware, I don't think hair has ever been a particular proficiency of yours. I've only occasionally played one of your games where I had an option that I was actually happy with, and I usually end up envying the hairstyles of other female characters, like Diana Allers and Josephine, or the default FemShep in ME3 (I always customize the character's appearance, it's part of the fun for me).

I am really hope for a wider variety of hair options than Bioware has generally, historically provided.

Now, I'd better prepare for backlash over making a thread that prioritizes such shallow and trivial aspects of the game.

Your thoughts on the aesthetics of the coming installment?

In a role playing game, character customization is important, IDK why you'd expect a backlash.

Because I'm coming from the land of the DAI feedback section, where the hairstyle complaint threads are so prevalent that a lot of people are using them as an example of dumb things to care about when they make threads about combat and such.

Like, "Here, let's talk about better specializations. I mean, I know it is something world moving like hair, but..."

Also, this is the first time I've been really amongst ME fans, while talking about ME, during the hype of a coming release. The intensity is throwing me a little off balance, so I'm preparing myself for anything.

Totally agree with your on the hair part, they're should be a lot more variety.

With regards to armour though I have, I heavily prefer utilitarian and practical over style and sleekness.

below are some, admittedly rather extreme examples of how I like to see armor done in Sci-Fi, quite militaristic yes, but then again our protaganist will most likely  have a certain affinity with military yet again.

Ah well, I was going to say the exact same thing. Plus the fact, that I'd prefer some normal walk and poses for the female character (no gorilla, no Bayonetta, if I have to give two exteme exemples). I mean, I'm pretty tomboyish myself, but I still don't walk and act like a gorilla, and I can't imagine a soldier walking around as if she was on some fashion catwalk. I'm an animator myself, watching FShep walk was distressing to me, which was why I spent my time charging...

I was satisfied with FShep walk animations in ME1, though I thought they got a bit... odd in 2&3. I can't say I was ever especially bothered about them, though, certainly not to the degree that the Hawke / Inquisitor strut really, really bother me.

I'm not all that interested in the realism aesthetic in my sci-fi. In fact, I tend to prefer the outlandish. It forms a more expansive backdrop for my imagination while the rest of my mind is occupied with the characters and story.

Clearly, my prediction for what kind of reaction this thread would get was really wrong. I edited that gif out of my OP accordingly.  ^_^

I like the cut of your jib, sir.

Speaking of mobility, in both ME3 and DAI, the stealthier PCs have been outdone by roguish types that move more fluidly, more gracefully, and more swiftly than they do. I've often wished I could change that, and have my character the one that fights like a fantasy ninja.

Neutral style walk would be fantastic. The only thing I'm worried about is a female PC who swings her arms way out around her torso. Different sitting animations would be good too, but I'm trying not to be too particular. I just want a character that walks in a way that doesn't look really bizarre.

I differ from you on the armor coloration, but only insofar as I'd like to pick it freely. I just a color wheel, so that I could go with jet black if it suits the character and my mood.

But I'd also be thrilled with the option to go with pale lilac, deep crimson, or dusty rose if I please. I don't want anything too different from the ME2/ME3 armor color options, just with a little more precise control over shade and hue.

As for the military thing, are we sure we're definitely playing another military character? Since we found out the N7 figure in the preview isn't the PC, I've been holding out hope that we might be something outside of the human armed forces.

It wouldn't break my heart or anything if I'm wrong, but I'd rather not have too close a repeat of Shepard's story.

I rather like the direction armor's gone in. Not sure how to feel about the helmet but I'm hoping that the PC's face isn't quarian'd behind it.

As for animation, not sure if it should be neutral, but it could do with some more subtlety.

What I'd like to see is the return of helmets for everyone in hazardous planet environments like in ME or just anything that completely covers their head.

And I REALLY, REALLY don't want to see high heels (and no I don't care how futuristic looking they are) or catsuits with cleavage for planet exploration and fighting. For Miranda her outfit at least made some sense since she also used her appearance to get ahead but Ashley was a smart looking soldier in ME but then in ME3 she just looked like Miranda 2.0 for no reason. And why Samara - a no nonsense Justicar on a personal mission would walk around with her breasts hanging out (while asari commandos wore armour) was always beyond me .

Please no futuristic cowboy ascetic. No cowboys, no space pirates. The music in the trailer was enough. ME franchise has had enough problems with its design style (changes from ME1 to ME3), we don't need incorporating a silly gimmick.
