It is also not unreasonable to conclude that they could have made the design a schematic and had it so anyone could use it

I don't deny that they could have done that for an instant.

I just don't agree that they would have made those designs, if they weren't designing them for those specific characters.

They could have been designed as those character's default armor, and then also given as a schematic.

Except the player gets all the cruddy options since priority goes to making the companion armors iconic. "Ooh, three versions of the exact same thing. Just what I wanted."  <_<

Franchises have been making distinctive, iconic looks for characters well before cosplay became as popular as it is today. It has to do with making them visually memorable first, and then maybe they consider people who want to cosplay.

I understand not liking the Inquisitor's armor options very much. I didn't either, but they reason that armor looks relatively generic has more to do with not wanting to give them too specific a style. Lack of style is just a way to avoid giving the player a style they don't like.

Of course, you still risk the player disliking a lack of style, but there's never any way to give everyone what they want.

I would have liked the option to wear something similar to some of the characters, definitely.

But I also have also preferred to be able to add different distinctions or embellishments. If it's precisely identical, it would have felt like my Inquisitor was the one cosplaying as their companions.

I liked the Inquisitor armors, the real problem was a lack of variety in them

It's the whole "shapeshifting" thing that armor does. The ones that don't reshape around a specific character tend to look kind of terrible. The Warden scout armor, in my opinion, looks pretty damn awful. I'm not really sold on the armor from Jaws of Hakkon either, though I find that the helmet looks pretty good for a dwarven PC.

I really liked the Ameridan's armor, but the fact it doesn't reshape is an issue though

Full body character creation. We're stuck as human so we might as well be a fat, jacked, or ropy one at that. Also, get rid of the person who did the hair and beards in DA:I. Big no on that please.

I liked the Dragon Hunter armor from JoH, with the right re-tint. It looks pretty amazing in veil quartz, but it did look too bulky to me on my female elf.

Surprisingly good on Solas, though.

I think the armors in DA:I look pretty amazing actually. They are abit more simple, and yet elegant, and now that you can tint them aswell. My rogue looks stunning atleast. I also like how they change with the modifications you can use. Plus the details makes the armor look like something you actually had to put on and adjust before going into battle. All in all it is a much better armor system and look than DA:O and DAII.

Support for this thread, hair and casual clothing.

http://forum.bioware...-and-long-hair/

Let's try to keep these discussions going, even if we don't have a chance of effecting how they design the hair or armor at all, we can at least say we tried really hard.

Well, I agree that DA2 had some awful armor options. I'm just way happier with the aesthetics of DAI than I was with DA2 in general.

Despite the huge step back in hairstyle variety.  <_<

The most frustrating thing for me in Mass Effect 2 and 3 was stuff with Cerberus logos on. In ME2 it did at least make sense, but having only the ugly brown available as non-cerberus casuals was annoying. In ME3, wearing Cerberus colours made no sense at all, and made me unwilling to wear otherwise cool armour.

I found the lack of variety in DAI armour pretty bad. Particularly on my first game where I was a Qunari mage. I don't know if that was down to the companion armour system, but presumably it did take a fair amount of resources.

For those of us with African hair (particularly the tighter curls), or for those of us just interested, that want to create characters with this type of hair, I would like BioWare to consider the following hairstyles for additional character creation options:

Textures for very short hair-

Spoiler

Various long and upswept hairstyles-

I agree with the OP 100%. I will add that they need better skin textures for custom PCs as well. They only thing worse than seeing a hair style we can't use (like ash's, Miranda's, etc.) are the custom skin textures that some squad mates have while we are stuck with bland ones (ash's skin textures, Jacob's, Miranda's, etc.).

Id like to see a layered armor system where we can add to a base set and customize it to our liking with segments of armor. like a chest part that is more like heavy armor and one that has a duster look to it but still able to use the jump jet.

I believe at ComiCon last year Mike Gamble said they were looking into something like this.

yeah I like a lot of the ideas here. I would imaginje that given the fact that Andromeda is next gen only and by that I mean XB1/PS4/PC not PS3 or 360 will give them more resources to play with and given the main protagonist is human and only human it means more resources hopefully can be put into that. I'd certainly like to see more flexibility in the character creation as well such as moer hairstyles both long and short hair. I also think some hair movement might be good too if in a windy location or when you're of duty and maybe taking some shore leave Citadel DLC style just letting your hair down. Obviously it'll be N7 style armour when on duty on the planets andf such but some different options for armours and for casually wandering aboard ship/ outpost would be good too  I think.

Yeah I like the DAI armours too especially the mage robes I also like the fact that they move in the wind too. I(n fact on my rogue playthrough I'm doing I've mostly been using armours with the flap on the back that blows in the wind too. Haven't done a warrior one yet but will likely do the same there if possible. The game looks so much moer lifelike that way. I'd like to see this happen with hair as well like they've done with Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider games. They've got moving hair in the Witcher games too so pretty suer it can be done. With the fact I doubt we'd see the N7 armour flapping in the wind maybe they can focus a little bit on giving hair a bit moer life and give us a few more hairstyles to picjk from as well.

In regards to the sleek v bulky armour debate, as an ice hockey goaltender I wear the bulkiest and heaviest of all kits on ice (at least twice as heavy as some/most outfield kits), yet at the same time, I have to be the most agile (the reality doesn't work out that way mainly because I'm a very awful goaltender, so look at the pros, or that girl from our Nationals who stretched her legs behind her head with leg pads on when warming up). Plus, aren't kits that modern soldiers wear and carry heavier than armour knights used to wear?

For hair, how about a Battle Beehive? In all seriousness, for hair, I would like to see some non military hairstyles, especially for men, though please keep the Alisthair, though maybe at tad bit longer, (I use it all the time for DA and ME).

I did as well. I thought what we had mostly looked better than what we had in DA2 or DA:O, it was just that the options were very limited. That, and companions like Blackwall and Cassandra had better armor than the PC.  B)

I'm hoping they add some of the concept art armors in future DLCs

Like mentioned in that other long weird topic, i would love to see something like the Hahne Kedar armor again. We probably won't use the same armors considering Andromeda and maybe a crafting system involved(?).

ME3_ArmourHahneKedar_Female.jpg?format=7

I just like the design of it. It is practical in its form, and it is more or less no different from male to female, there are a few noticeable differences ofc with regards to the shape of us humans. Also it has the details, magazines, grenades etc on the vest, it just looks like something a soldier would wear into battle, atleast in a game.

I agree. The armour are great in DAI, I liked the styles, but a little limited (and having half the armour schematics looking basically the same even if had different names was a little sad.  expecially when instead on companion looked really differently one from the others)

I hope in the new ME we could customize and decide the type of armout for the companions again like in ME1.

One thing I have always asked myself about ME's hairstyles was: why are the hairstyles so "old" looking? ME should be set in future, why there aren't any (for Shepard) more modern hairstyles? expecially short ones. I have seen more modern hairstyles in Fallout 3, and is a future with 50's influence. all buzzcutts, ponytails, or very old looking bob. Even in the military, short more stylish hair than a bob should be permitted.

I hope our character in not militay again, so we can have more stylish civilian hair.

Totally random, but I kind of hope the protagonist has boots similar to the WW2 era US tanker boots. For no other reason than they look cool.

They'd have to get a space age update though, and not be leather.

Honestly, this is my favorite armor in the series. I wanted this armor SOOOOO badly when I played 3, but alas, even Kadain ditched it for the bigger rig (which as a sentinel made more sense character wise as well).

Spoiler

But I like the fact that teammates have their own looks. And I liked how DA:I let me customize those looks as well. What I would ask for, is a tiered list for armor (light, med, heavy) for all characters that kept the look, and then let pieces like arms, chest and whatever be added for some more customization.

And this kind is for the actual body: at CC, just have three (small, med, large) frame options for everyone. DCUO did it in 2010 on the ps3, why not now on PS4?
