My favorite part of ME1 was the Luna mission where the AI had gone rogue. Never ever felt that alone or somehow scared before (ok I did have two silent comrades with me).  I was alone in the space with a mad computer who had killed everyone around her.
And it felt right, like a real scenario, something what would really happen in the near future if we discover big things and take too long steps too fast, create unreliable and untested technic for the sake of our security in an alien enviroment.

That was the moment when the enviroment and the mission felt whole. In a reasonable way. I´m waiting something like that to happen in Andromeda. That the missions makes sense in a historical  and realistical way. That we really need to survive in a new world. That we have to trust unknown and take big risks in the wilderness. And sense the loneliness.

( I´m sorry my horrible english. Hopefully it gets better when I get used to it here.)

Don't worry about it, you're doing fine. :)

Indeed, with a bit of imagination you can create the weirdest stuff about ice world's - not just ice and snowflakes.

I'd like to see a planetary ice ring in decaying orbit where part of it has already begun to deorbit into atmosphere.

Halo rings for daaays

Here is a thought, maybe what is attacking us is the civilization of Andromeda Galaxy. And here is a second thought maybe after many centuries after the Reaper Threat we finally decode what the Reapers were doing pass our galaxy. Information is obviously driving us to go to another galaxy, something we are unknown of but hopefully Bioware throws the METrilogy a solid and explains whatever the Reapers were doing to our galaxy and maybe others is causing us to need to go to another galaxy now.

Then here is a complete off the wall thought, maybe the Milky Way Galaxy isn't the only Galaxy the Reapers were harvesting or tried to Harvest from. I just find it completely whacked that these powerful Reapers were solely focusing on the Milky Way Galaxy only for harvesting lol. But this thought goes into why the Galactic Civilization of Andromeda would see us as a threat. Andromeda already had a thriving galaxy and its populace were too hard to turn into a cycle for the Reapers, they failed trying to take it control and put it into a cycle like they did to our Galaxy. Pretty much we are seen as another Reaper invasion since I am sure our technology is still based off Reaper tech and it is just more evolved from it now.

The Reapers harvested in The Milky Way because this is where they originated from. Besides, Andromeda is far away even if we consider it our "neighboring" galaxy. I don't think the Reapers should/would have any involvement with it.

Andromeda's issues should be Andromeda's issues alone.

True enough but either way maybe we are seen as the threat because there is already a thriving Galactic society there.

I'm actually hoping for them to do little more than borrow the name "Andromeda Galaxy" and its proximity to the Milky Way.

1) Because when we actually get there... we're not going to just say: "Oh, humans named this planet X-G5466... so that's just GOT to be the name."  Even humans wouldn't do that.. maybe for the first century or two sure... but eventually they'll just come up with culturally acceptable terminology the planet will be named.

2) Any habitable planet is purely fiction anyway as are all the flora and fauna existing on them.

3) The things coming to the new galaxy are all purely fictional.

4)  This is science fantasy - turning to a more hard core science fiction would not be the best move.

Well Andromeda will have life that already thrives in it so I imagine we'll default to whatever their names and designations are for the planetoids and satellites.

Or we'll say F that and name them whatever the hell we want. lololol

This is already confirmed(well, confirmed with what little information we believe we have);there's a race that lives in Andromeda that doesn't like the fact the Milky Way races showed up and are fighting against it.

I didn't know there was that much detailed released on it besides we are going to another galaxy. Trying to keep off the hype trains these days, last one I rode crashed aka Destiny.

Well you shouldn't have to worry about that here. This thread is about the real life Andromeda Galaxy and what we can learn from it for the game.

In a realistic scenario I actually wouldn't be surprised to see reapers trying to go to other galaxies trying to "solve" the problem.  In game I don't want to see or hear from them, outside of a codex or passing mention.  Despite the fact that much of the MW is unexplored, I still feel intrigued by the idea of going to another galaxy.  Something about it just says different to me.  There's another planet, another star system, and then there's another galaxy altogether.

I am fascinated by the potential and possibilities.  Be interesting to see what they do with it.

Let's not forget that a new galaxy makes everything new for everybody.  Especially if the Reapers "did" get to the Andromeda galaxy and cleansed it prior to our arrival.  (And I really hope this is the case.  Finding that the Reapers are actually imperfect at their task... and don't really wipe out the races that compose the civilizations they destroy would be, for me... far FAR more realistic.  So sure, bring on the post-apocalyptic survivors of the Andromedian cleansing.)

That means there'll be very little left to explain... and the story is truly forging its own path instead of working in the parameters of some intricate network.

If there's a history behind the new human colony... I'd like to be the one to forge a bit of it, be witness to the rest of it, and when someone says (in ME 5): "Do you remember when X happened." I can say... "Yes, I was there."  Not... "Explain that bit of fictional history to me even though my character really SHOULD know it... being an indigenous aspect of this galaxy unlike the player controlling me."

Here's a video that discusses ten amazing planets out in real space which can give you some hope as to what kind of creative ideas the development team can use for original locations.

Thank you for this thread :) Made me delurk and all.

Visiting the uncharted worlds in ME was one of my favourite parts and I really hope to get that same sensation of novelty exploring our next destination. Hopefully we get a chance of relatively peaceful exploration too, I´d very much like to just take in the scenery without being shot at. Fine with being shot at around the corner later, but best go in with a blissful smile.

I do want the chance to enjoy the nightly vistas on uncharted worlds without being shot at, yes.

But damn, think of the opportunities. Diamond planets, planets with not one, not two, but three moons, planets so dark and hot they glow red, planets with glass flying around sideways at over 4,400 mph, planets with ice that came about not from cold temperatures but from immense water pressure, etc etc.

They could do so much with Andromeda and who's to say our actual neighboring Andromeda galaxy doesn't have amazing planets like that in reality?

Gah! I mean, yes, the opportunities to weave some planet´s peculiarities into a mission, a side mission, a mission constraint... A plot point?

Also, with the right soundtrack I might be standing there all too long, having my teammates picking their respective noses. Maybe trying to mutiny even.

Hubble being our collective eyes in space, who knows what we´ll see. Or hear back after 2029 :D Interesting times!

I'd like this post but I'm all out. FUUUUUUH

But yes, who knows? Might get nothing back, but its worth a shot. As for Andromeda's planets and satellites, I hope the team's creativity leads to amazing and intricate level design and vistas to enjoy.
