They may as well have, with how we know next to nothing about Andromeda.
You should assume the worst. That way you won't be disappointed.

On the subject of the collision between Andromeda and The Milky Way,
I didn't know that!!!
Yes, I'm ignorant about astronomy because the mere thought of everything that might be out there and crash into earth or land is giving me panic attacks (for real), but now I really wanna know more.
This is the coolest creepiest thing I have ever heard. Thanks for sharing this! ![]()

Good thing we don't have to worry about it given how far off it is.
Besides, by the time that happens our own sun Sol will have expanded in size and begun eating up everything within the inner Solar System.
If humanity is somehow still around by that point, we gotta worry about moving somewhere else. We won't be in the habitable life zone forever.

Optimism to a point is how I do things. I want things to go well but I don't expect the greatest thing ever, that way there's room for whatever the end result is.
I liked the concept of those vistas... but I hate, hate, hate barren worlds. Just hate. It's not that I want them to be populated - but when it's literally a lifeless rock, I don't like it. I felt the ME:A concept worlds really captured this sense of... impressive alien scale, without being generic barren rock.
"Alien words" should be a license for artists and level designers to go absolutely hog wild.
That was the one thing I really liked about Avatar. it's an alien world, go nuts. Giant floating rocks. Massive trees. Great windswept spires. Wildlife straight out of D&D, or hell even Lovecraft if you want to.
That giant floating thingy in the trailer is a good start. Imagine you exploring a planet and this big baby lazily flies overhead? That's what I want in my space exploration. I am ambiguous on the concept of Andromeda, but by jove if they can pull off this kind of feeling I'll be completely sold.

Hope for creativity.

There goes my dream of spending 4 billion years in cryostasis, so I can gaze at that amazing night sky... *sigh*

Try Europa. Maybe. If we can get past radiation.
Actually, anywhere thats not here. hahaha
First thing I did on hearing the location was Andromeda was mine all my astronomer friendses' brains for information on it hahaha

I prefer keeping a mid-level of expectation

Something like that, yeah.
I'm not a pessimist.

Disappointment is inevitable. Expecting the worst all the time sucks the fun out of anticipating things.
No, having your hopes crushed and your fears realized sucks the fun out of anticipating things.

She must have watched british comedy shows in the 70/80's then and stole the quote there. ![]()

Nah.
I hope Andromeda doesn't feel like an extension of the Milky Way in game. I want some serious differences.

How so? A star is a star, a planet is a planet. A billion stars in Andromeda won't be completely different from the stars in the Milky Way.
What's different is that there are no Mass Relays (I hope), no extinction cycle (so perhaps some really old species are still around), there are new species, our exploration fleet is cut off from their government(s), we have no star maps of the galaxy, we're likely to encounter new technology because here the Reapers never railroaded civilisations into using theirs and we won't be able to simply buy stuff because our Milky Way currency is worthless in Andromeda. We'll need to barter with the locals, if they don't shoot us on sight.

Thats what I'm talking about. Andromeda isn't likely to play by the same rules that The Milky Way does given the lack of Reapers and technology being "guided" in a sense.

German winter sucks enough already, no thanks. At least it wouldn't rain there. Actually, Europa sounds better. *g*

Yeah well, that's life. Hopes will be crushed and fears will be realized at some point.

There are plans to explore Europa's viability. Stay tuned.
As for Andromeda, its a bit far. ![]()

More than hopes will be crushed if we land on a planet with immense pressurization. ![]()

Yeah, but the opposite is also supposed to happen too. Still waiting for that to.
