I've done some research and I've realized how awesome Andromeda is... Hopefully, BioWare can capture that awesomeness.

Andromeda's awesome from what little we know. Imagine all that we don't.

I know it'll be off topic a bit but when I look at all those pictures and videos of space and galaxies I can't help but wonder...
How great it would be if BW would exchange the galaxy map we know from Shepard's trilogy and went with the idea similar to what Elite: Dangerous did.
Where we would board the ship and actually fly to a star system and instead of clicking the planet on the map we could just fly over it, land on the surface or on orbiting station.
I'm not saying do the full atmosphere entry and landing but just let us fly our own ship in space and not push a toy around the table.
Another idea is to have a big mothership that uses "old ME" type of map to travel around the star systems and then have our party to jump into smaller ship and fly around the star and planets to see what interesting can be found. Maybe some space combat as well?

Is there any particular difference between the Milk Way and Andromeda that might have an interesting impact in the game?

Besides the fact that they are completely different galaxies with the potential to have entirely different things exist and take effect in them? I mean, thats all you need.
Other than that, we don't know enough about M31 to really say that so and so is gonna impact the game. If anything, they can play around with stars and constellations since they won't be anything like what we'd see on Earth. There's far more stars in Andromeda as opposed to The Milky Way so they can do something with that perhaps. Really this just opens the door for creative freedom.

Could have done that in our own galaxy.

They already did. Three times.
They never played around with constellations in the Shepard Trilogy.
Besides, I'd rather them do it a fourth time than just make everything up. I love Andromeda, but like I said before them making up all the nebulae, stars, etc will be a big depressing disconnect for me as an astronomer.

They absolutely did. Or did you think every time we looked at stars in space it was accurate based on where we were? It wasn't. Its science fiction. Fiction prevails if there's nothing to actually base things on. Andromeda just opens the field.

I saw familiar constellations in the skies several times, so yes they did do that.
That's fantasy, not science fiction. Science fiction prevails if it can be seen as being possible in the future. Making everything up doesn't do that.

Science fiction is fantasy. Andromeda having made up stars and constellations is no different than The Milky Way also having made up stars and constellations in the first three games.
Or can we not make this game until we actually defy our natural lifespans along with traveling FTL so we can make the 2.5 million lightyear jump in reality and then map what we find in game?

Except that Bioware at least tried to make it seem real by having real stars and nebulae also visitable. That created a connection to reality. This time there will be a disconnect.
They can do whatever they want, but likewise people are allowed to express their dislike of it.
Ironic that you make a thread to inform posters of Andromeda facts yet support Bioware making everything in Andromeda up.

Its all they can do. If I wanted Bioware to be 100% true to the actual Andromeda Galaxy we'd need NASA to get more than half a cent on the dollar and get more information about our neighboring galaxy. Since we can't do that but know at least a few things about Andromeda its on Bioware to use what little we do know and add their own flair to what we don't.

They could use another galaxy. We have the Large Magellanic Cloud mapped out to a good extent for example. It would also be less of a leap in storytelling since the LMC is a lot closer.

The LMC is 100th the size of The Milky Way and isn't known to those outside of the astronomy field;Andromeda is not only bigger than The Milky Way(allowing for both a tighter-knit story in a single cluster or a large sweeping story much like the original trilogy) but is also known to those that don't know all that much about stars.
People have heard of Andromeda. People haven't heard about the LMC. Even if folks don't know much or anything about Andromeda(which this thread's existence is trying to fix), they've at least heard of it.
Could the LMC work in a ME setting? Sure, probably. But we're going to Andromeda, thats not changing now, and no one will know if it would've worked better. Its far too late for that.
And given how the ME universe works I don't see reaching Andromeda as being a leap in storytelling. They'd have to explain travel to the LMC as well and it being closer doesn't necessarily make it a better choice.
We might see the LMC in a later game though, who knows. Its all up in the air.

It's roughly 1% the mass of the Milky Way, not 1% the size. The LMC is about 14,000 light years across, so about 14% the size of the Milky Way, making it over 14 times bigger than all the space of the Milky Way explored by our cycle.
More people know of the LMC over Andromeda, actually. The LMC is clearly visible in the night sky of the Southern Hemisphere, about as big as the full moon. And due to it's proximity, we see most of it with the naked eye where Andromeda at best we see the galactic core.
I know it's too late now, unfortunately.
It's a huge leap. It is throwing all our tech or the lore out the window to make the trip via conventional FTL or using a DEM. Meanwhile with the Milky Way's halo, the trip to the LMC could be done with conventional FTL. It's still a stretch, but not nearly as big a one.

Well, first off this is how big and visible it is on a hill overlooking a city.

I don't see how that correlates to people actually knowing what the LMC is or that it even exists. I know of no media with the LMC having a notable presence or it being mentioned in a media format.
