Naw...its going nowhere. General consensus is that forum goers "want" it more gay/bi which is a good way to alienated straight gamers.
I want ZERO romance options

romance options are options, if you don't like/want it, don't do it, just ignore that dialog option, simple as that

Doesn't seem to be costing them any sales. All these brittle straights keep buying them anyway and then just complain about them on the forums.

Wait, OP said he wanted zero romance options.
Someone give the man a mandatory romance. Where's Liara when you need her? ![]()

Why don't they just play dating sims then?
I honestly was ok with romances until people started complaining about how unfair the number of romances are as if in real life in a room you always have an equal number of LGBT and straight people. Its really takes away from the characters when people only care about how many they can shag.
Honestly wouldn't care if the whole room was full of lesbians and gay men if it fit the character instead of artificially numbered sexual preferences which make no sense.
Yea, i get it, I too play the game for the story and I dont care much If there is romance or not. If there is I will try it, but I wont rage if it isnt there. Just saying that if they didnt include them, there would be a rage storm from the fans.

Sounds like a good idea to me. More focus on the game itself, less distractions, hell, it may even make for a better game.

Yes thats right. I am sick and tired of these "o its unfair for this group" or "hey this group is being pandered to more than me" nonsense.
I am tired of bioware getting away with horrible game designs by stating how progressive they are in romance options and other nonsense that has no effect on gameplay.
So I want ZERO romance options in this game. No romance advances, no nothing. A completely asexual protagonist or a protagonist that has much bigger things to worry about than who he is gonna shag in some horrendous cutscene that makes a mockery of sex scenes.
So there you go.
You can be like that in Mass Effect 1-3, ya know...

More than likely, it'll just be the same game, minus romance.

This isn't the easiest sentence to follow, but I'll try: you're saying that including gay/bi characters alienates straight gamers? I just want to make sure I'm not misconstruing your meaning before pointing out to you that the only people alienated by the inclusion of gay and bi characters are homophobes.
I believe the effort and energy associated with romances has long since passed the point of being ludicrous and counter-productive, but I think feeling threatened by the inclusion of gay or bi characters is laughable. Real men aren't afraid of a little man ass in their Mass Effect.

It's only counterproductive if fan consensus is largely negative.
I don't see how fan consensus is even relevant.

This is entertainment. If the fans are entertained and respond positively for the most part (which seems to be the case in general), then it's not effort wasted. Whether or not some people are indifferent or actively dislike it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if it costs a bit more to record the lines. I've yet to see anyone here establish that it's an actual hindrance on the game other than their personal disdain for it.I don't see how fan consensus is even relevant.
More importantly, no one can prove that removing this optional feature will result in more or better content aimed elsewhere.

How about you don't romance anyone and stop reading whatever the fans write left and right?
Problem solved.

You moved the goalposts. I don't believe there is such thing as fan consensus on the issue, nor do I believe that consensus actually determines reality. Mass Effect fans could reach a consensus that the moon is made of green cheese, but that wouldn't make it so.
However, I'm not going to belabour the point. I will no longer contribute to this thread, because I see it as competing directly with my own. My ego, naturally, is fed directly by fan consensus of how correct I am. Therefore, I will return to my thread to wage war until the fan consensus is that my thread is the clear and only true romance thread.

Nah see I've thought about it some more.
They shouldn't take away the waifus...
They should make one MANDATORY.
Any follow up games will always assume you're bestest best friends with whoever Not!Liara is anyway.

Why do you think Bioware "gets away" with their design choices? Metacritic (and, hell, sales) seem to show the opposite.

Indeed...

There is already thread like this so no need to do new one on same topic.
Also I want it little unnecessary to want thing out of game just cause people talk about it. Solution for that is simple, just don't go into threads dedicated to topic.
