I won't rant about the idiocy and the technological leap backwards that the addition of the thermal clips represents.

 

I won't. Really.

 

What I will say is that saying: "Yeah, we still have almost unlimited ammo because of the tiny ammo-grains, but we need you to reload all the time anyway because reasons." - Seems like troll logic to me.

 

Instead, there are actual advantages to using big modern-day-sized ammo rounds. For example, if you shoot in-atmosphere, a tiny grain might burn itself out like a meteorite because of friction with the air.

 

Also, if you shoot bigger rounds you can actually transform them into something similar to Bolter Ammunition from WH40K quite easily.

So, if you are not bringing back unlimited ammo, just give us actual ammo magazines. It simply makes more sense.
