I'm wondering if Shepard might be the reason why the Reapers lose in Andromeda, assuming the Reapers went there. The leak mentions a species native to Andromeda that once had a great civilization, but had partly fallen at some point prior to the arrival of the Milky Way colonists.

Perhaps the Reapers were also in the process of simultaneously annihilating the species known as the Remnant (before they were the Remnant) when Shepard makes the Crucible decision. If the Reapers had the element of surprise, they may have also needed far fewer ships to accomplish the annihilation of that species than they needed in the Milky Way. After Shepard makes the end game choice, the Control or Synthesis Reapers then retreat on command from either version of the Catalyst, while the Reapers in Destroy either retreat or cease functioning in the wake of the Catalyst being destroyed.

It would be a way to address Shepard's ending choice in ME3 without the writers needing to worry about the other effects of the ending choices, such as whether everyone in the Milky Way is now a cyborg.

I like this one, it'd tie Shepard's story into the new game without making the RBG a overly heavy burden on ME:A.  It'd add some flavor to the game, but a better explanation for why there isn't any around for Control/Synthesis needs to be worked out.

You know, I think BioWare will go the completely stupid route and have the catalyst be an Andromeda creation that got sent to the Milky Way in order to act as a caretaker.

I actually don't know that it would be any more or less stupid than the Catalyst we got.

maybe a sideways-stupid path?

If you didn't instantly recognise that noise as the Reaper sounds, then you can't be much of an ME fan.

You did not just say that.

Hmm well you're either deaf or have never heard any sounds the geth or the Reapers made in Mass Effect 3.

Oh. You're one of those.

Reported.

Erm, alright. Reported for what, exactly? I'd like to see the moderators consider banning me for jokingly saying "you must be deaf".

Pls, moar scare tactics. Stop trying to derail the thread

It wouldn't be the silliest thing that ever happened in this forum.

Listen people. This guy knows whats up. He knows how lazy BioWare really is. Most of the stuff in that reveal trailer was old Mass Effect trailer things. Even the cinematography and stuff..... So yeah. Don't think about it to hard. Cause you can bet, BioWare isn't.

It used to be.

They might have relaxed that rule lately though.

Dunno.  It may be an eternal mystery.

But shortly after EC was released, all IT threads were locked, and mentioning it anywhere else invited thread locks too.

That seems so petty and brittle on their part. Weird.

In retrospect, Indoc theory is not the cure-all I thought it was, but I'll be damned if I wasn't 100% on board with it in March 2012.

I'm hoping they sent at least one Reaper to scout out another galaxy... basically Andromeda's version of Sovereign, a vanguard. It could be close to death when we find it and once it learned it was the last Reaper, it could join us somehow (similar to how EDI joined us on missions?) I think that'd be pretty cool. A "friendly" Reaper that we can properly converse with.

Another way it could be friendly: without the mass relays, how far can "The Intelligence" extend its control signal?  If a Reaper made it to Andromeda, it could be the first free-willed Reaper anyone encounters.

Really? Why?

Probably because the ITers got really obnoxious with their pet theory for awhile. Too many threads that had nothing to do with IT were being derailed by arguments caused by it, and too many of the true believers would get aggressive and start calling people morons when they disagreed that X was proof of IT. That, and indoctrination theory was never actually part of Bioware's game.

So they forbid any discussion of IT for awhile, even in threads devoted specifically to the indoctrination theory. It was an overreaction to obnoxious behavior on the part of a vocal minority of fans, but I think that was the reasoning behind the IT threads being nuked and discussion of it anywhere being banned for awhile.

The only reaper I want to see in Andromeda is the model of one in my cabin

To be fair, at this point it may be too early to determine whether what we were hearing were some robots that speak dub step and not just... dub step.

I'd infinitely prefer the former.

I'm gonna miss the Reapers in mp.

Nothing beats that pucker feeling you get when you are pumping shots into the Banshee in front of you while at the same time you can hear the other Banshee closing in behind you.

Why would one Reaper that had nothing to do with the story negatively affect the game? You just seem really prejudiced against anything from the original games

Listen to your own comparison.  The reaper sound is lower frequency.  You may not be able to hear the difference with low end computer speakers or a laptop, but headphones or even mediocre speakers make it easy to notice.

For the last time, it sounds like what it is- a modified Inception horn followed by a modified digitized stuttering like every other scifi machine for the past eight years or so:

Transformers

Transformers Age of Extinction

Terminator Salvation

It's significance is zero, apart from hinting that we're going to be fighting high-tech machines or machine-assisted things

I'd find you articles about the stuttering sound but it doesn't have as catchy a name.
