Anyway, I suppose someone realized that the last federal holiday in the US before May 2010 was fast approaching, and that Washington's Birthday isn't typically referred to as a "holiday season" event.

Thank you for making this thread, because, like, there aren't any OTHER threads on the same exact thing!
You must be new to video game forums.

Go watch a youtube video, it would take about 1, maybe 2 minutes to highlight anything interesting in RTO. The only gear you get is the king's amour and thats just red steel. The sword is also red steel and its stats aren't even that great.
ur wrong, the lvl of the set varies depending on your level and it's upgradeable.... same with the weapons and shield

Would it be ethical to throw away (not use) my Bioware points, and download RTO from the internet?
Yes. I base this on your statement that you'd already paid for it. As I see it, the only real ethical questions surrounding the RtO release/delay sits squarely within BioWare's court. Those having pre-paid to obtain the points for the DLC are in the clear, in my view.
There are reasons that I wouldn't do that though, but those reasons aren't mired in any real ethical dilemma. The reasons are based upon concerns about any unresolved technical issues. Others may be concerned about malware associated with any cracked packages, but for myself I'm confident that I can avoid at least that specific type of pitfall. But I personally have stopped playing DA:O until a proper release is made. At which point I may or may not continue the adventure.

..I have 2 playthroughs on standby, because they're waiting for RtO. I want it as soon as possible, what is the point in delaying it when its done? If there are bugs to fix, thats ok, but why delay it when its complete? Also, I'd fancy any information from BioWare, no matter what they say. If they say "We won't be able to fix this bug at all" fine, then my chars move on, but what they are doing at the moment is just cruel.
You actually think something this trivial is cruel? Get a grip - there are bigger and more important things to worry about in life; bursting a blood vessel over a missed release date is going to do nothing but make people look a bit silly. It's not like it's the first release date on the planet that hasn't been met. Seriously, put your attention to something else for a while and just be happy when it does come out. If that means playing less DA for a while, so be it. I think Bioware will get over it so you should too!
Alternatively you could cry more.. maybe Bioware's dev team is fuelled by tears.

I actually wouldn't be advising people to do that, it might cause them problems in the long run.

I respect your opinion, and I might even agree with it. However, I was not advising anyone to do anything. I was responding to a question on ethics, and as well I was providing a non-ethics based rationale for not downloading the content (which incidentally is available for download on this site domain, last I checked, just like all the other DLC files are).

RtO never existed, was never made and was never intented to be released. They just put up a video and a bunch of fake screenshot.
.... As a cheap ploy to get their holiday bonuses from stupid consumers like me buying the points before it came out.

if they integrate RtO and Awakenings, which would be DUMB because RtO is kinda old hat by that point, then I want my money back for those damned points I bought.
You and about nine thousand other people....Which means it aint happening. Time to find something else bioware points can be spent on....oh wait, every other game I have is on 360 and uses M$ points. FTS<_<

Since BW closed the RtO thread and moved discussion to the opaquely titled (at least for those on other systems) 360 Update thread, then they 'deserve' any blossoming of threads that occur. But fear not, no matter how many threads appear, there will be no response from BW or their forum minions.
