Seriously, if this is the best they can do for a 45 minutes piece of DLC, then something is terribly wrong.

This doesn't bode well for an imminent release in my view. All this continuous flaffing about and vague promises of telling the consumer "where we stand", means that it might take a while. I don't see any gleam of hope yet.

It does make me seriously skeptical about their ability to get Awakening out in March. Especially since it's not just RtO. Mass Effect 2 also had some DLC problems that forced them to delay their download ability.

Almost 6pm EST. I think hope is fading.

I agree, the best thing Bioware could do is pull that premature release date. If there is this much furore over a 45 minute piece of DLC, there will be outright pandemonium for the expansion. Not aware of the ME 2 problems because we Europeans (mostly) don't get it until Friday.
What is most alarming is that the two studios who developed DA and ME2 are completely separate. There is definitely some curse with BW and DLC.

Bioware is in Edmonton, 2 hours behind EST. So they've still got a bit left in their pumpkin yet.

I dont mind if they're improving the quality of the DLC and making it longer as well as fixing the bugs. It's just that I have a few characters waiting to try out some of the new weapons and armor lol. And I want to see what my characters have to say about what happened down there at Ostagar! But, since we can take our gear to Awakening, I guess I can wait as long Awakening doesnt beat RTO out! I also hope the PS3 version of the DLC doesnt take even longer after all this wait.

Its wishful thinking at best but I wouldn't expect them to expand the DLC at all. Simply put, there wouldn't be enough time.

I agree that the smart thing to do is pull the release date of Awakening. That way its a win-win situation, people won't get hyped and enraged if something goes wrong at the last minute and will be pleasantly surprised when the expansion does indeed come out.

Yeah, I know. I wish! From the sound of it, RtO will probably be the same length or a maybe a hair longer than Warden's Peak and Stone Prisoner.

How did they lose money when many pc gamers decided to buy points in anticipation of the release?rruffo wrote...
BW lost SO MUCH MONEY on the way this release of RTO was supposed to go down, beleive me they are NOT happy . And the way i herd ME2 dlc went down , seems to me its not worth it to create this money making scheme On BOTh ends of the spectrum for that matter. I personally am against these 45 min add ons and I IUV exrta content, just release them on a full expantion pack like the good old days.

Interesting find. I'm not sure what to make of this myself, it looks promising though. Alas, the timing clashing with the release of ME2 is astoundingly bad. I won't make generalisations and say that the majority of people will not buy it simply by virtue of the fact that they're playing ME2, however, in my case it is unlikely that I will even be aware of the DLC release because I'll be playing ME2.

-Losing share of the DLC market where points are used for non-EA content (XBL, PSN in some way).
-Losing interest in future DLC purchase, including RtO.
-Not everyone buys points ahead of time, and given RtO's issues, doubt many will again.
-Losing momentum (cost, time, and even market hype) in providing other DLC also translates into a financial loss.

So, really, nothing tangible? Assumptions =/= Financial Lost. One can form opinions that may have affected the company but when it comes to solid numbers, they have gained some revenue. At this point, I'm not sure if they actually made actual profit given the work they put in.ZeroR3D wrote...

Many people who play DA on Xbox have already paid for the DLC and from what I read on the forums, a lot are pissed for purchasing points with nothing to spend it on.

I can't imagine the deciding factor of whether someone is going to buy Return to Ostagar or not would be down to a delay of a few weeks.
I think its more likely that the standard of the content would be the most important. I don't think it looks amazing by any means, but if you asked me was it worth $5 I'd say yes.
