Mac Walters is the Creative Director for MEA.

And a pre-release novel written by one Bill Dietz...

What kind of announcement or feature would make you go "nope, I'm not buying this, then!"?

I don't think there could be anything that would decisively make me not want to play it, except for a low metacritic score (<80).

Having said that I'm not in any rush to see it released.

i think I would buy it regardless of any aspect, unless there was an immense backslash and the reason for people being so angry was evident even judging by youtube videos.

But things that would turn me down:

Day one DLC

The deluxe edition with more content

The different promotional dlcs spread across several retailers, so they can ensure that no one (or at least no one who´s not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a single game) has the whole package.

Being a sad SP MMO like DAI

MP in any way interfering with the SP campaign.

Too much emphasis and reliance on homosexuality in order to sell the product.

Uninteresting squad-mates.

Bad control for the vehicles, or too much reliance on them.

Cut-scenes that can´t be interrupted.

The typical new game plus mentality from insecure developers of forcing that people use the same character twice. If you trust that your product is good then people will volunteer to play it more than once. You don´t have to built a system that will force them to do it in order to maximize gear and weapons. Besides, ME´s typical structure of different origins for the character, sex, alignment and decisions across the game is a reason for trying the game again but with a different character. But not the very same character used.

If it is anything like the last 15 minutes of ME:3

If it is anything like DA:I with boring fetch quest and lifeless empty areas with storyless filler. And crap PC UI and controls.

Too much "Humanity" - I can accept Kaidan's philosophy that aliens are nuanced like humans. But they also grow up in a culture that's completely different. I don't want to see asari as blue humans, turians as bird humans, and salarians as frog humans. Give me creatures and philosophies that are alien.

I understand where you're coming from, but many scientists suggest that a certain anatomical structure might be particularly favourable in regards to the evolution of intelligent life-forms, and that we are likely to find life-forms in the Universe that aren't very different from us.

I really hope that BioWare will drop the heavy anthropocentrism theme they had going on in the original trilogy. We don't need to be reminded how special human beings are, because we're not that great.

Realistically? Making MP vital to the game is probably the only thing I can think of.

If every Character and NPC in the game has North American accents. I mean no offence to our U.S. or Canadian cousins but I'd like to hear a variety of accents in the game. There's some great actors from around the globe and you've hired some pretty great ones for the Dragon Age titles down the years.  Oh and by the way, when it comes to British accents, there's more than 'generic London' and 'generic Yorkshire' accents. The Systems Alliance is meant to represent all peoples of Earth and their colonies. Let's have some diversity in the accents, please.

There is nothing "Realistically" they could do to make me turn this game down. They would have to go out of their way to NOT make a Space Exploration RPG game with pre-existing aliens, terms, abilities, and similar settings to make me not want to play this. In fact they would have to turn it into anything other than a Space Adventurer action RPG to make me not play it.. something like Mass Effect Andromeda the Fighting Game with pixel graphics and 2D plane fighting.

Even though I've been pretty positive about the game overall, I never seriously considered myself getting it one day. There's probably one thing that would convince me not to purchase the game at all but I haven't though of it yet.

That is a hard idea to quantify for me...what could possibly turn me away from Mass Effect...i guess nothing permanently but perhaps some things could delay me picking it up. They are already on low priority because of "Human Only Protagonist" boringness, i suppose a lack of MP would push it back way further on my list, and i guess a complete lack of my favorite classic races would be a huge hit (Quarian, Geth, Vorcha, Batarian)

I'm afraid I would turn it down in a heartbeat if they took the "Story" out of it and made it a pure shooter, or got rid of casual play/story mode completely.   :P

You of all people would make this kind of thread.  It is a Mass Effect game there is nothing that would drive me away from it.

That's a rather naive approach.

I would turn it down if I found the plot didn't have a particular focus on its story, and if the game focused on being too 'inclusive'.

                                                                                         <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

Simple.

A PC game that has poorly ported console controls for the keyboard and mouse as in DAI.

Frankly, I normally would laugh at the thought. However, after pre-ordering DAI and after that famous "PC game for PC gamers by PC gamers" and the game I received had the keyboard and mouse input controls castrated, for no apparent reason, sincce DA:O and DA2 PC controls worked perfectly. I now understand burned once twice shy.

I will wait until after the game is launched then decide to buy/not buy and when it's on sale.  My way of showing my displeasure at Bio.

If we can't make our own character...if Bioware forces a pre-determined character onto us, kinda like CD project and their witcher sieries

Why a MMO would turn most of you down?

MMO.

MP being too tightly integrated. I might even give MP a look but I want to do that on my terms not with a virtual gun pointed to my head.

Both of these. (Ran out of likes, sorry!)

Series which aren't meant to be MMOs but get made into them anyway disappoint me immensely. Looking at you, Elder Scrolls Online...

And forced multiplayer ruins my enjoyment of games a great deal. Excluding Guild Wars 2 and the L4D games, I would never buy a game for its multiplayer. I know they aren't going to make this an MMO (though that's not to assume it won't have MMO qualities like DAI has), but we still don't know how multiplayer will tie into the game, nor if it's going to be shoehorned or not.

Why a MMO would turn most of you down?

I don't play MMOs.

I generally don't play anything online.

The only online gaming activity I've ever had was playing some ME3 MP in early 2014 which I actually enjoyed.

I don't dislike or hate MMOs or any sort of online gaming, it's just not my thing I guess.

As for MMOs specifically, they suck way too much time and I'd prefer playing and beating games in my backlog than sink 1000s of hours to a single game.

I'm not as vehemently anti-MMO as some; I'm certainly not hoping for an MMO, but that would be the best chance for having full race selection, which would be a plus, so I see a silver lining there. Though if there's any kind of subscription fee for it, it would be an instant no-go for me.

But to answer the question, I don't know that there's one particular thing. Unappealing squadmates, an unappealing story premise. Just, the game not gripping me with interest.

So far from the one trailer, I'm not sold. It's going to take more than a cinematic of running, jumping, and shooting at generic enemies to hook me on this.

Now, why the hell would they even do that, lol?

It was revealed that DAI was meant to be an MMO at some point.

If it drew too much on Skyrim.  God, I'm so sick and tired of hearing about the GD game, I could puke.   No lore?  No story?   GOLD!   WINNER !   BEST GAME OF ALL TIME!

Wait, what?

Even then I'd prolly still buy it, play it once but then shelve it.
