§  A wormhole opens in a cloud of spacedust near the Citadel

§  The wormhole is discovered shortly after Sovereign attacks the Citadel

§  Study of the wormhole revealed that it led to another galaxy- the Andromeda galaxy. Probes sent through scanned several solar systems that looked promising for colonization

§  The Council retrieved enough of Sovereign and the Geth to know the Reapers were a real and impending threat

§  Existence of the Reapers was denied to prevent panic but the Council knew that the harvest was impending and that they couldn’t stop it

§  Work on an “Ark” began in secret, recruiting the best and brightest of every intelligent race- Asari, Turian, Salarian, Human, Krogan, Hanar, Drell, Volus, Batarian, Elcor and Raloi- to preserve life and start anew in another galaxy

§  Thousands of members of each race-minus Quarians, instead numbering in the hundreds- are gathered based on intellect, physical prowess and creativity and put aboard the Ark when the Reaper invasion begins

§  When Cerberus attacks the Citadel and target the Council the Ark is launched to prevent sabotage, as the Asari, Turian and Salarian councilors know of the Ark

§  Throughout the construction of the Ark and gathering of Ark candidates your PC, an N7 recruit, stood out as a strong and intelligent soldier

§  When Cerberus attacked the Citadel your PC was escorting a group of Ark scientists and head officials through a marketplace. Your PC killed dozens of Cerberus operatives and got the Ark personnel off the Citadel safely, leading to bloated title and promotion: Admiral

§  The Ark goes through the wormhole and detonates a dark-energy bomb behind it to close the wormhole, successfully blocking a Reaper incursion and travel back to the Milky Way

§  The Admiral-your PC- is put in charge of the Ark’s military and police forces after the Ark travels through the wormhole

§  After finding a planet suitable for colonization the leadership of the Ark goes groundside for a pompous groundbreaking ceremony, but the ceremony is attacked by an unknown force and all attendees are killed.

§  The Admiral, still aboard the Ark, flees the system and gathers the remaining leadership

§  After confirming the casualties and going down the list of succession it is determined that the Admiral is the highest ranking leader of the Ark and is now in charge of the expedition, it’s military and it’s police force

§  Unprepared for leadership and in an untenable situation the Admiral must move the mission forward while keeping his angry military and police forces in check by proving himself as a soldier and leader, stopping mutinies, keeping the Ark population in line, and staving off attacks from unknown, native threats

?

What if it came with these companions:

§  Female Drell vanguard. Formerly personal security for Hanar dignitaries and politicians. Outwardly stoic and cold but personable and fun loving once her guard is down. Romanceable, obviously.
§  Male Krogan sentinel. Born on Thessia and raised by an Asari Matriarch to be skilled in countless forms of art and combat, he's a powerful warrior with an even temper on and off the battlefield. He has no love for Krogans and prides himself on his intellect and controlled emotions.
§  Asari Commando soldier. Born to a wealthy and influential amoral family on Illium but disowned after joining the Asari military. Despite a total lack of biotic abilities she quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the youngest Commandos and the first Commando with no biotic abilities. She's hotheaded and cocky and uses her sexual wiles to get what she wants. Romanceable, obviously.
§  Male Batarian adept. Formerly the commander of a special Batarian task force with the goal of policing Batarian pirates and slavers to avoid political and military blowback. Personable but argumentative, he's a staunch believer in moral relativism and solipsistic greed/personal enrichment. Romanceable?
§  Male Quarian sentinel. A special operative for the Flotilla tasked with acquiring resources and intelligence for the fleet by whatever means necessary. Essentially a Quarian Robin Hood, preying on the rest of the galaxy. Fiercely loyal to his people and deeply distrustful of other races, he keeps to himself and doesn't open up easily.
§  Female Human engineer. An N7 operative skilled in explosives, sabotage and assassination. For years she was an "off the books" operative, dealing primarily in wetwork and sabotage in the interest of human advancement. She shows signs of sociopathy with occasional flashes of passion or empathy. Romanceable.
§  Male Human infiltrator. An N7 operative skilled in hand to hand combat, infiltration, investigative techniques and "reading" people. Basically James Bond in space, he formerly infiltrated Cerberus and took down a dozen high ranking Cerberus leaders, shut down dozens of Cerberus operations, and had a hit put on his head by the Illusive Man himself. He's suave, persuasive, manipulative, and always working an angle. Romanceable.
§  Female Turian vanguard. Formerly the leader of a Turian Cabal, she was personally assigned to this team by the Turian Councilor. Nothing is known about her personally and she seems to have a secret agenda. Romanceable, obviously.
§  Male Salarian soldier. Jondum Bau. Romanceable.

Do they need to be appeased?

Let's be real here, they'll play the game anyways even if it is just to complain about it for years here.

I wouldn't even explain it, collective amnesia for all the passengers.

How'd we end up here damn it? I guess we should look around.

I really doubt it.

I think the only thing that would appease the outraged portion of the fan base would be somehow actually fixing the trilogy ending.

Which I think would be impossible. Some things can't be fixed.

I think the first question would be: Can they be appeased?

The second would be: Does it matter if they are?

1. Maybe some.
2. No. It's not like Bioware are going to turn the ship around and go back.
People can always play some other game in some other fictional universe anyway if it really troubles them that much. For me gameplay is king.

I wouldn't worry about anyone who has expressed disdain over ME:A. It's in such early stages, there isn't anything substantial to like or dislike.

This is the only thing I read of the OP.

And the answer for me is yes.

You are literally just repeating the same thing that's been said about the 'Ark Theory' for months.

Is this supposed to be some sort of novel or creative idea? Your post is written as if you're bringing in a new solution that nobody's thought of yet.

I haven't seen this many section signs since my last job staring at legal documents all day. I guess bullet points aren't fancy enough.

I wouldn't say I'm an Andromeda hater. I definitely would have preferred a canon continuation in the Milky Way but I get why some don't like that idea.

Having said that, this scenario WOULD bother me for the following reasons:

- If a wormhole is opening up then I want a damned good reason for it. If it turns out just to be a random event at the end of ME1, that would deserve a massive facepalm.
- Surely in the 3 years following ME1, word would have got out about the wormhole? I mean, how could both Shadow Brokers, EDI, Traynor, the Illusive Man, Miranda, Mordin, Hackett, Anderson and Shepard all have been oblivious to this?!? Yet there is obviously no mention of it in the Trilogy.
- The Council made it very clear in ME2 that they didn't take the Reaper threat seriously, unless they were lying to Shep, which makes no sense. If they believed the Reapers were coming, why would they leave some of their best assets utterly in the dark? Especially if there was a human-controlled Council.
- Surely a gathering of thousands of each species would have attracted attention?

I would much rather that the discovery/creation of a wormhole happened during or after ME3 and have the mission be about exploration, rather than fleeing the Reapers.

I smell some PlanetSide lore in there. Wormhole, probes, etc. Then again, it's probably so generic there wasn't any sort of influence.
