Speculation on Javik's role

It seems the new setting for the game is analogous to the discovery of the "new world" of the sixteenth century. There will be first contact with new and strange civilizations, most likely in hostile terms as the trailer displayed. As in the colonization of the Americas, there'll likely be many different settler groups that work independently of each other (the english, french, spanish, portuguese, dutch, swedes etc.). Javik has definitely got all it takes to be a leader of great masses who can inspire people in dark times ("telling them what they want to hear"), given his life experience and his racial ability of reading genetic memories and detecting moods of people and even if there is "deceit" among them (as evidenced when Javik is visiting the citadel, thessia, if the commander made a certain decision in Tuchanka etc.). In the Eden Prime DLC mission, he even stated in the one of the cinematic scenes his ambition to have a great role in the next cycle he wakes up in.

So what do you think, will Javik try to resurrect the Prothean Empire with his followers, or will he co-operate and work with the survivors in more democratic fashion together to build their presence in the Andromeda? At least in the beginning it would be unwise to start fighting amongst the survivors when they are in the middle of an unknown and possibly hostile world, but maybe later, who knows? At least that's what I want to see.

So, what do YOU think and what do you want to see as Javik's new role?

The devs have said in their blog very recently that we are going to a "time and space far removed from Shepard."  I took that to mean possibly a century or two after the events of ME3.  With the possible exception of Liara, all the other squadmates are likely dead from old age.  He's also a DLC character, which means it's less likely he'll come back.  With the Reapers defeated, he probably either wrote the book with Liara, became a "god" among the Hanar, or decided life wasn't worth it.  Sorry.   :(

Bummer, maybe I should read the tweets of devs from now on before making such ignorant posts. No prothean empire for me. :crying:

Hehe, well if it helps, I don't think you're a fool.  It just happens.  I've accidentally kicked some hornet nests before.  Try asking about why a character is fan service in total innocence.  You made a mistake and if anyone flames you for it, ignore them.  They aren't worth it.   ;)

I can't blame you for hoping.  Javik was pretty awesome and the lore behind the protheans was neat.  Still, with how hard the devs have stressed that this is going to be a different story, I sadly think we'll be lucky to see some of the other races.  Javik was the last of his kind, after all.  There's a chance that more protheans are sleeping, but considering that their story is the most directly tied to the Reapers out of all of the races, I doubt we'll see them again.  The only races confirmed at this time are human (obviously,) Asari (eh) and Krogan (oh yessss.)

I think my signature shows I'm a tad bit bias in favor of the Krogan, so I apologize.  :P

For me, it's partially because I could totally see them any of them in the pit at a Black Label Society or Slayer concert.  Or hanging out with me and my hubby behind the pit, while I'm headbanging away.   \m/

I really doubt any of the "old guard" characters will show up.

It's much easier for Bio to start fresh, in the Helius Cluster, away from Cerberus, the Crucible, Repears... etc. This freedeom will permit Bio to stell a brand new story, perhaps establish a new forward thinking  Canon. That is, we won't see trilogies anymore but individual game stories, independant of one another.

    away from Cerberus

You can say that again. I don't want to hear the name "Cerberus", ever again.

I figure I should be the one to tell it to him.  I didn't want some of the more aggressive posters possibly flaming him for it.

Thanks for your support, but I can take the heat pretty well ;). Anyways, even if the Andromeda happens in the unforeseeable future, it doesn't have to be billions of years away, right? Optimistically maybe a few decades or a hundred years from ME3's happenings? Maybe enough that Liara's possible child with Shepard is a young adult. Be that as it may, if the Krogan are reintroduced it's pretty probable that at least Grunt/Wrex will be seen again as squadmates. Grunt's my favorite of those.

I don't think it would be unsurprising for Javik to return. He was a fan favourite character and only featured in one game, and I'm guessing protheans have long lifespans (maybe on the same level as the asari and krogan) so he could still be alive during ME:A.

I'd sure as hell love to have him back. He's a great character.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Javik return in ME A, or just Protheans in general. It could start in the Milky Way, post Citadel, and Liara discovering that the Protheans fled the Milky Way to Andromeda. We then head off to Andromeda to see if the Protheans made it. Again, I will apologise now for the simplicity of the premise, but it could be a starting point of sorts. But most likely we won't see any characters from the original trilogy.

"Far removed from Shepard in time and space" - and you think TWO CENTURIES is "far removed"? I'd suggest adding a zero to that number, and you may begin to get there.

I never considered the idea of Javik returning, but I think it would be pretty awesome, even if it was just a cameo.

Javik can be dead. From Ashes  does not have to be completed. So he never gets recruited

In addition to what others have pointed out, the entire reason they moved the story to Andromeda is to avoid the ending debacle, obviously.

Honestly, I would be surprised if the journey to Andromeda took place after the end of ME3. The devs have said many times that this "shouldnt be considered a true sequel". We were correct in predicting the move to Andromeda, and I think we are also probably correct about predicting the in-lore REASON for the move to Andromeda - an ark to escape the Reapers. As Javik was present on Earth, he wouldn't have been on the colonization trip to Andromeda.

Technically....Grunt could still be alive as well...in fact he would really still be a bit on the young side.

Glad you brought it up.

That said, I think it's a moot point who can be alive at this point. The odds of seeing squadmates again seems pretty low. It would open a whole new can of worms anyway, while Grunt can still be alive, he can also be dead, and obviously, he'll be affected by the endings, like everyone else.

I can guarantee nothing is going to happen.

Javik was useless in ME 3. If the developers were going to do something with them, they would have done it then.

I'm any case, I wouldn't call him a 'fan favorite.'

It is hard to say how popular he was with the fanbase as a whole. What percentage of people who purchased ME3 also purchased From Ashes for example? I'm not sure that Bioware ever released sales figures for their DLC.

I think it is fair to say that he is a fan favorite of those who post on the BSN, but whether or not people here are representative of the millions of people who purchased ME3 is impossible to say.
