So, apparently there's backlash over the new Deus Ex's choice of words for the term "Mechanical Apartheid"

Eidos Montreal's lead narrative designer, Mary DeMerle has commented on the backlash.

So Gilles Matouba coins the term 'Mechanical Apartheid' in order to highlight the unjust treatment the Augs face in Deus Ex's world, and people lose their ****? Not only that but they erroneously reduce the man's identity to that of a privileged white male in order to lambaste him too.

SJWs man.

So... if Fallout were to use the term "nuclear holocaust", would it make the game offensive to jews?

Some people really need to get over themselves.

I guess this is the new quote for all the SJWs to get outraged over. I'll never understand why these idiots think depicting injustice/prejudice is tacit approval of it, and now we've gotten to the point where they're bitching about a term created to illustrate how Augs are treated in the Deus Ex universe, as The Hierophant said.

Someone needs to get these people some Imodium for their collective verbal diarrhea.

No, no, no... you are undeniably wrong.

SJWs being up in arms about something trivial?

Surely you must be joking.

From what I can tell, most SJWs are white themselves. It's like they're overcompensating, trying too hard to project "bad faith" in everything... as some sort of repayment for all the years whites ignored genuine bad faith in others.

Or that's my take. I'm half white.. so still kind of consider myself a "racial minority". To me, they're embarrassing spokespeople for racial relations.

Some times I just think they are some sorry people with some serious case of self loathing. They talk **** about their own race because of bad things some people do. You will never see an SJW preaching about issues happening in the middle east, or asia. It's easier to whine about first world problems.

Considering how Bioware handles their games, I can't help but be surprised what all these people above are even doing at a Bioware forum. I guess these are the very same people who endlessly whine here about everything and anything connected to Bioware, despite still obviously playing their games and wasting their lifetimes on their forum.  ^_^

It isn't about being offended. It is about finding something that could be twisted to seem offensive, and then making use of it. Mostly to portray yourself in a good light. As someone who stands up for "others" and get likes and pats on the backs from it. For the most part this is a thing in social media. Find something offensive or something that isn't PC, and milk it to score social points. It is all about being seen and heard after having painted yourself in a certain light.

Elaborate?

What does SJWs being blindly ignorant, and intolerant of an analogy that compares apartheid to the social strife of a game setting's minority population have to do with posting on this forum. What does this company's policy of inclusion have to do with us taking issue with the logic behind the arguments of Gilles Matouba's critics?

Agreed. It is a digital d!ck sucking contest where people can get off on being morally superior. It's the opposite side of the coin of religious wack jobs waving signs that say "God hates fags."

looks like a case of people trying to get offended. HOW DARE VIDEOGAMES TACKLE STRONG SUBJECT MATTER! Im so offended!

Everyone is so stuckup about watering down mature topics that I worry the things we'll be getting soon will be nothing but platitudes. As for the letitia character cited in the topic, I honestly think she was handled well. The voice didnt really match the character but Letitia as a concept is fine. Its not like she had a ****** slave collar around her neck. She is a black character depicted as impoverish and uneducated. If she was white I doubt anyone would bat an eye. People just trying to get offended man.

Even David Gaider quit his tumblr because of SJWs. That was in one of his last posts.

I mean, if your social justice attempts annoy Gaider, something's really gone off the rails. He's not exactly unfriendly to it for the most part. This is how bad it has become.

If only.  :(

Part of the reason they have such a strong voice in the media nowadays is because people ignored them and left them to their devices for years, rather than confronting their craziness head on.

People shouldn't be so afraid of words that remind them of something they would rather forget.
