So, apparently there's backlash over the new Deus Ex's choice of words for the term "Mechanical Apartheid"

No offense but I see more people talk about SJW's than actual SJW's talking, it reminds me of 10 years ago when people ran around the internet calling everybody "Libs" if they disagreed with anything the Bush Administration did.  <_<

Well that is your perspective and your perspective is different from others. In my opinion, (which is different than yours), not only the gaming industry, but general society is becoming too sensitive and too politically correct on many things. It is like someone cannot express themselves in their art anymore without someone throwing out the sexist, racist, or homophobic card. Go and read the article and you'll see the context in what we are talking about.

Old but here's a link with Gilles Matouba's response to the critics.

http://www.gameranx....eid-complaints/

It's nice that he, and Andre didn't cave in to the same SocJus harrassment that Matt Taylor did. Sad that people sent him death threats over a dominatrix cartoon figure on a shirt.

Is that three letter acronym censored on here now?

Nah, only being different. It's catchy though.

Funny.

Timberlake won't like this, but Bieber's probably used to this kind of comment.

Actually things have improved a lot, it used to be people were outright killed, mugged or threatened for making controversial art. As for "PC", being somebody who lives in the South I can safely say a good portion of people i've personally heard complain about "PC" aren't doing it because their views are being oppressed, more simply because fewer people agree with them or find them funny.

Video games themselves are such a tiny inconsequential part of what's going on in society though, if anything the backlash against "SJW's" bring them more attention than they would've gotten otherwise.

I can think of quite a few examples of political correctness gone mad. The trouble is that they're, well, political, and many of my examples would undoubtedly spark heated political debates.

I will say that political correctness is especially prevalent in the American education system. To give an example, one teacher said she doesn't teach Shakespeare to her students because his works are "too white."

Honestly that's racist.

That is my experience as well.

Maybe because I don't spent much time on Twitter and avoid Tumblr. But if said SJW hate plague was so widespread, you'd think I'd have seen it by now. Yet I see far more people complaining about it.

Has even one person spoken in favour of the criticism of DX in this thread?

You know, thinking on it more, there is a lot more people willing to call out SocJus then there are to support it. I will admit that problems can arise from both sides as well.

Perhaps its bias though, but I still find SocJus stuff more annoying and fun to criticize.

Admittedly it's blown out of proportion more often than not. But the amount of ridiculous nonsense they often spew out  can get annoying, especially if it comes from a journalist or a critic.

I'll criticise it when it comes out and if it does a really bad job of portraying the Mechanical Apartheid. Otherwise I have no grounds beyond "MAH TRIGGURS!"

So should they teach Ugandan English literature instead? Oh wait...

I see people crying about SJWs more than I see actual SJWs.

The worst thing to come out of GamerGate is this weird (though sometimes amusing) SJW panic.

Also most times now you see someone accused of being an SJW its just because they dared to disagree with the person slinging labels.

Frankly, if nothing else, SJWs are great at flushing out bigots....

That's true, since the actions of SJWs reveal their own bigotry.

TBH, this forum section is not the best place to find examples of SJWs. The people on here are too sane and rational.

like many people point out its not that everyone is a rightwing biggot it is that the SJWs are SOOOOOOO far left even the most mobderet begnine action or argument is seen as bigotry. look at thr feminisr professor who got a Tital 9 for dissagreeing whith a Feminist. or the Indian kid who was refused entery into a course because he was an Indian male.

or how about how the deffination of rape has been changed so only Men can be guilty of it.

but honestly this Offended culture is rubbish.

No one cares if you are offended. when did Sticks and Stones stop being relevent?

thats stuff a 3 year old knows.

SO WHAT if you dont like Lara Crofts boobs dont buy the game. samus looks to Masculin? Easy fix go buy somthing else.

your offence dose not dictate the rest of the world.

Sh*t Boybands and Girlbands offend me buy i dont demand that the Westlifes and Shugarbabes of the word be changed. no i listen to stuff i do like.

Same person calling this game offsive also claimed Osama Bin Ladens death was a tragedy, and that Charlie Hedbo and Christopher Hitchens both deserved to die and that their deaths aught to be celebrated.

I think I for one know which people im going to listen to when it comes to know what is and is not offensive.

Crazies who were involved with the whole #KillAllMen thing or who use white cismale like a pejorative are rightly criticized for their hysterical far left insanity. My issue is that many of the Gamer Gate crowd are just as bad and extreme, except that they fall on the opposite end of the political spectrum. Just as many of the Gamer Gate crowd are guilty of making racist, homophobic, or sexist statements as there are misandrists and heterophobes among the people they label SJWs. Honestly, both groups deserve each other.

A pox on both their houses.

Prove it then. You can't, it's incredibly difficult.

The thing is with an anonymous group any one on the internet can pick up the hashtag and go on a trolling spree, it's happened and will happen until the government starts micro tagging people. Go to the SJWs and they have a track record of slinging **** at people a mile long, and it's the same people over and over again and they've been doing it for years.

Prove what exactly? That some Gamer Gaters are sexist, homophobes, or misogynists? I don't bother to bookmark statements from either side, because truth be told, I couldn't care less about the whole Gamer Gate controversy. I also wish it would stop bleeding into topics that have nothing to do with that little internet pissing match. (not necessarily this thread) That being said, it is virtually impossible to ignore because it does often bleed into unrelated topics or people insist on reposting links and fanning outrage against the more moronic statements from either side.

Anyone who has been active on the internet for the last year or so however, at least on any site related to gaming, has probably run across stupid statements from both sides whether they wanted to or not.
