She is amazing.

Indeed. It won't be the same without her -  she owned that role. :(

I always thought it was funny though that Morrigan has a different manner speech from Flemeth, even though she was raised exclusively by her... ;)

The crowning performance in Dragon Age.

Not really much else to say.

Morrigan is kind of a hipster apostate, which may explain her looks and speech pattern.

Pure magnificence. One of the most powerful performances I've ever seen, anywhere at anytime. Hearing Kate's words on Flemeth was illuminating, and I feel so moved and inspired when I watch this (especially with The Lost Temple playing in the background!!), I can't wait to play as my elf again later this year. Unnnghh, just, magnificent.

it's hard to believe just how inspired BioWare's voice actor casting has been over the years.  And with DAI, they've extended the run!

Dorian, Solas, Cremisius, Scout Harding... shall I continue?  I especially enjoy how someone who played a minor character in one game is selected for a major role in another (and vice versa.)

I started to list my favourites (with Ms. Mulgrew and Ms. Kempa at the top, of course) when I realized there were just too many!

Scroll through these and see how many make you say "Oh yeah, s/he was great!"

Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening

Dragon Age 2

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Mass Effect

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 3

Or listen to samples from many of them here:

She's incredible as Flemeth. I could listen to that voice all day. When she was a little younger she looked a lot like Katharine Hepburn when she was young and they sound alike too. Now I have to go watch all 7 seasons of Voyager. I love you Captain Janeway  <3

Well, I can see why they didn't want to show it pre-release because that would be spoiling Flemeth's appearance. But maybe it was shot more recently? When she came into the studio to record some more lines?

**Somewhat spoilery but not really?**

I think:

1)They left matters/lore open enough for her (Kate/Flemeth, not -Spoilers-) to return for the next game, but even if she comes again to voice her character, it won't be until at least something like 2016-2017, a year/couple years from now. So it is basically a goodbye for many involved regardless. Could she return? Oh yes... OH YES. But what we do know, is that the 'Flemeth' arc is over. We more-or-less understand her past, her nature, her motivations. This doesn't mean that the 'character' herself is over (as those who played the game know), but 'Flemeth' (the name) herself is either done, or done-except-for-specific-scenes.

Spoiler

2)Regardless of whether Flemeth is done in the story, it might have been decided by Bioware that 'Flemeth' is a tie to the Dragon Age 'of old', and now, as we start approaching a decade of Dragon Age, the 'new' Dragon Age will have to lose/redefine/alter what Dragon Age 'is'. Part of this transition could be the 'removal' of Flemeth-as-we-knew-her, even as veteran players of the series will still understand that Flemeth still lives on in some ways, and can make connections to older games, while new players are not feeling like they lost all story context of the future Dragon Age games if they start there.

Basically, Kate can come back, but now, she doesn't have to. Bioware is more free to use her to whatever capacity they feel like or are able to. There's only so long one can extend the same voice actor for the same thing, and while we may NOT have reached that point for Kate, we also MAY have. We'll have to see, and maybe, that's Bioware's approach here as well.

I don't think Flemeth is truly gone. But I do think that just as the Flemeth of DAO was gone once they brought in the sexy witch for DA2+DAI, the Flemeth of the last few games (old+sexy witch) is probably done.

But remember, her body is a vessel, and a shape, both at the same time. She can be anything. She can be a dragon. She can live on through every single Dragon Age game, as long as believe certain approaches to Dragon Age lore at least. Just maybe not voiced by Kate Mulgrew.

She's so awesome! And she's coming to my local convention in September in Toronto! I'm going to ask her to autograph my DA games.

Ok - serious gushing coming on. You have been warned: (Oh - and mild spoilers too)

Oh, wow - the moment I stop looking at the forums they upload a video about my favourite character in the whole Dragon Age Universe.

I love Kate Mulgrew as Flemeth. She adds so much depth and humanity to the character and also humour. Flemeth's dialogue with  my sarcastic Fem Mage Hawke in DA 2 was one of my favourite moments in that game.

In DAI my char seriously fan-girled about her, just to get the famous put down: "One day someone will summerize your life like that...." Loved it.

And at the end of that scene Flemeth finally showed a hint of the regret she felt towards Morrigan and having failed her as a mother. Very moving, I thought.

I am hoping against the odds, that this is not the last we have seen or heard! of her - but then, Flemeth is always good for a surprise or two...

She is my top character in DAO. I really don't want her gone.

Solas has excellent voice acting, but he doesn't have her insight. Sometimes, I didn't like "Everything is human's fault" coming out of Solas. Demons are humans fault. Oh Please, how about leaving humans alone if you can't take the heat.

Such generalization and simplification was nonsense. At least Flemeth was willing to work with the limitations, and knew what they were. Solas on the other hand gave his orb to Cory. That went well!

I hope in DA4, they don't make him so quick to find mistakes in others without some intelligent plan. His comments:

All organizations are bad

We must rebel everything

OMG I wanted to tell him, "And replace it with what? Sherlock".

He needs to be humanized a bit. Just a little less nonsense from him. Intelligence without firm understanding of limitations comes out looking drippy. Was this because he had been sleeping for so long?

Excellent acting on his part, and he can take a lead role if he becomes more human.

OK - Spoilers:

It would have been lovely to see the two of them interact more than in that infamous, final scene.

So, they seem to be old friends - but I have difficulties imagining it. Solas is so idealistic and believes so strongly in his cause (he could almost be a German student), compared to Flemeth, who, as Kate Mulgrew said so well in the interview, is all about shades of grey. She is such a realist, she almost becomes cynical.

Their goals seem to be different as well. Solas seems to want to start some sort of revolution / liberation, whereas Flemeth claims, she wants revenge. She also seems to be much more cunning than he is, always having a plan b up her sleeve.

So how did those two become friends? Perhaps their goals were the same at one point and then they changed? Perhaps the sardonic part of Flemeth is really her human nature and Mythal was as idealistic as Solas? I would love to have this common history explored a bit more.

I really hope there will be some more interaction between those two great characters (if all else fails - flashbacks perhaps?).

Old friends, emphasis on old. They may not be the same people as the were all those centuries ago.

Mythal's been around in the world in Flemeth, and potentially others, so she's had plenty of time to change and grow cynical. By comparison Solas seems to have spent his time sleeping and roaming the fade, like he's still that dread wolf who tore down the power structure without thought of what would happen in the power vacuum left behind - now awake and not well pleased with the consequences of his actions.

We've got precendence for seeing past events in the form of ghosts/echoes, like those dwarves who were left behind in Kal'hirol, so we could potentially see something like that.
