I played classic soldier the entire trilogy; it works

Yeah, but.... It's so boring. I mean.... Vanguard or bust in my opinion. VG, especial in ME2, IS a soldier and beast. But you have amazing biotic powers and the coolest class specific power, in my opinion.

I do like the N7 soldier tho in MP. He's hilarious to play as.

Seriously, no matter who we fight in the game, aren´t we the foreign invaders? Even if we settle an empty planet and other races discover it later, don´t they have a bigger claim on the planet since well, we are not even from the same galaxy?

I guess we are. Hopefully our character's acceptance or rejection of these seemingly colonialist actions will be a major factor in the plot. I really hope we'll at first consider the native (bad choice of word...)  aliens as our enemies, then we'll meet one that may become a squad member which may (paragon) or may not (renegade) change our way of thinking.

Honestly the best thing that can happen to the primitives of the Andromeda galaxy (Or Nova Via Lactea as its soon to be called) is to fall under the rule of humanity (As is the fate of all inferior races), let this be your creed in ME:A "All i see give to me, that’s my decree".

edit: "All that thine shall be mine" works too :D.

Too bad humanity isn't the only MW specie in Andromeda .
I wonder How many people will be disappointed if humanity is working with other species as before.

Oh you mean the client races? They shan't be an issue.

On a serious note, i would be very disappointed if working with other races and being goody goody is the only option, if i wanted to play a neo-liberal super winne i'd play a Jedi in swtor or watch star trek.

I really hope we get the option to be Imperialistic conquerors, Playing as a sith in swtor was the first time i really enjoyed playing a star wars themed game.

Punisher+cryo rounds= Many lulz and many dead savages! I mostly play as a VG with wraith and palladin or a Infi with glorious Black Widow. But... Engineer is really, really good in ME3. BioWare really stepped it up for that class from ME2.

I just want the Power Amplify coupled with High Velocity Barrel, guns aren't my primary focus.

I just need Overload, Incinerate and Sabotage, everything just blows up.

I'm looking foward to electrocute, incinerate or explode savages!

It depends a lot on How and when we reached Andromeda.
I don't think we'll be either. The game will probably focus on humanity's efforts, but I think the game will be focused on humanity's survival if we have go found a new home. We wouodn't have the resources To be conquerors.
Though in my opinion They won't give us the option to fight the other MW races, At least Not in a full-out war.

That’s assuming we're the first humans to get to Andromeda, we could be part of later waves.

If we really are more of a Columbus figure then a Cortez one then yeah we would most likely be busy trying to survive our new environment, and we still don’t know how the Andromeda races measure against us technologically

@Dark Helmet:  Oh, don't you SJW me... I know you still play with your dolls!

I have absolutely NO problem with playing a character that supports or forges empires... but, I think for me it has more to do with genre.  This is a more idealized reality than what "may be" in the real future of our world.  It's like Star Trek and Wars where everyone gets along (in Star Wars - the rebels are the idealized version and before the Empire, Star Wars was very "Council races".)

If this were a Warhammer 40K RPG... you would hear me signing an entirely different tune.

For good or ill, this may be the foundation for "humanity is special" again. Remember how if the Council dies, Udina says the Citadel races are looking to humanity to lead because they've never faced such a threat before. The humans have it fresh in their minds and history of what it's like to be the new kids on the block. The other races have been around awhile and had gotten used to things being a certain way. The Council races are used to being respected and revered and getting their own way. Now suddenly Team Milky Way is all the "new kid on the block". So it will be up to humanity to show make sure they don't get pushed around by whoever is already there in Andromeda.

That said, it could work really well to see the Council races, particularly the Turians, try to throw their weight around and be shot down, while races like the Quarian, Volus, or even Vorcha try to move up a little now that the social structure has been trashed.

Honestly the best thing that can happen to the primitives of the Andromeda galaxy (Or Nova Via Lactea as its soon to be called) is to fall under the rule of humanity (As is the fate of all inferior races), let this be your creed in ME:A "All i see give to me, that’s my decree".

Yeah, the survival plot is based on humanity Not having found a planet yet.
Ad I said, a lot depends on when the voyage happened, and when the game's timeline start.
I do think it's more likely that we haven't found a planet yet, but everything is possible. I hope that in Fall Bioware would At least present the basic plot like DAI's official site did. It'd be enough to give us an idea of where humanity and the other species stand.

Also, while your human protagonist might rise to the top, will humanity be so distinct, or will all the Milky Way species stay tight knit, particularly in the eyes of Andromeda's residents?

In my opinion, if the game starts with the goal of finding a new planet, Inguess MW species will try to help each other. Expecially if the Ark theory is true and all the species have people in the Ark. It might make the Andromeda species worry Though.

How does this differ from the last game. The Batarians weren't to happy about our colonies near their space, and we were expanding rapidly through out the Galaxy and pissing other species and governments off. Sounds like business as usual to me.

@dragonflight288:  You had me until you started talking "epic".

An ME trilogy about your first few paragraphs would be so much better than the Reaper storyline.

This story could suffice man vs. nature, self AND other... (we really only get "man vs other" in our "epic" cRPGs) - I am hoping Bioware crafts a story of "struggle" and not of "badassery".

I actually believe they were trying to make ME 1-3 about struggle... but "entertainment" got in the way big time and we needed giant space cuttlefish and 'splosions.

Yes, we need bad guys, fighting and 'splosions... but we need better storytelling more than anything (and Summer Blockbuster is not better storytelling).

You'll not find any disagreement here, but I think you're confusing the word "epic" as in awesome explosions, big fights, awesome speeches with what I really meant.

An epic in the classical sense is really what Shepard's story is. It's the heroes journey engaged in a conflict of epic, meaning large in scope not necessarily quality of the story and confict, and the story follows that journey.

We don't needa galactic conflict in Andromeda, or another set of Reapers to replace. A quality story, good combat system and strong loveable characters are Bioware's trademarks compared to other gaming companies. They'll have to go smaller in scale forthe main conflict of the game, but if the story and characters are good enough, I suspect most gamers will be satisfied.

Ownership of land anywhere in the universe could be seen as a false claim, it was likely there before and after those making the claim. As to whether we're the bad guys now, I suppose that's all in how we do the exploring.

"are we the bad guys?"

Not in my eyes, much like in ME1-3, i fight for the advancement and survival of the human race and if it comes down to us or an alien species, the aliens have got to go.

I like the idea of being  the invading army. the strong alliances of the MW races working to find new home worlds. forming alliances with the new races and either forcing them to join us for make them allies to over take their long time enemies.

Technically you decide it yourself if you are the good or bad gay, if you land on that planet and instead of choosing to talk with them just attack and kill them, then it is pretty obvious.
