Seriously, I find it ridiculous that these non-human LIs use gender as the hurdle they're not willing to cross - something about Shepard's personality is attractive to them regardless, since Shepard's a human, Tali and Garrus both have an entirely different DNA base, and no matter how it works, because both parties are different species, the... "equipment" won't be a match... But apparently, because Shepard is identifying as a particular gender, they won't cross THAT line? It makes no sense to me.

 

So yes, bring on the alien LIs for either gender PC!

 

The logic is so faulty with assumptions it can only be politically motivated.

 

1) it assumes gender isn't important to sexual attraction in Aliens. by your logic because humans ARE of the same genetic base and have "equipment" that matches then gay relationship would wouldn't appeal to humans. Why cross the gender "barrier" when you can genetically breed and your equipment matches? I DON'T KNOW... maybe because sexual attraction HAS a gender component??? Ask a bunch of heterosexual men if they would bang an Asari and you'll get a decent number of affirmatives even though humans can't breed with them. yes asari can breed with humans but it isn't a joint pairing. Yet you change the gender of Asari to male as in all asari are male and you are not going to get a lot of heterosexual men interested. Similarlyask gay men in the same two situations and things will play out much the say way, female Asari get few affirmatives wwith gay men while male asari get a lot more with gay men. It isn't Rocket science most straight men are not interest in dangly bits and most gay men think dangly bits are the bee's knees. Why? Again because GENDER is important to attraction and there is zero reason to just ASSUME that gender isn't important to any species that uses sexual reproduction.

 

2) It assumes that sexual congress with heterosexuals is dominated by the motivate of reproduction. It isn't in fact most sexual conduct with humans isn't motivated by breeding, pleasure is the motivation. So all this talk of DNA and equipment not working isn't as relevant to human sexual motivation as you might imply. You assume that Aliens will be either so motivated by breeding that some mystical force of Shepard's personality transcends this drive so gender is null and void because sex is for breeding with aliens. Or it assumes breeding is so unimportant to aliens that Shepard's bits be they inny or dangly have no influence on attraction only Shepard's personality is at play.

 

As to the OP's request.

 

If they have aliens for both genders of heterosexuals and gay females with the asari then it seems perfectly reasonable to include a gaylien. So long as the character happens to be gay vs. must include gaylien to meet checklist as this will most likely lead to a really flat and boring character outside the romance. I think Sera is an example of a great character who is gay and written in such a manner that her "bromance" with a male inky is one of the best in bioware's history. (Assuming you are not put off because you can't stand her political views and what not) and i believe this is the case because she wasn't created to fill the checklist of "we need a lesbian."

I would like a turian with the personality of Alistair, a funny and dorky guy. Krogan race is aggressive by nature, I don't see them as being very romantic to be honest. I want fluffy and romantic, and that was one of the reasons why I dislike Iron Bull so much since the relationship is being treated like a joke instead of romantic. A quarian is cool as well, but I don't want to romance a suit of armor. I hope that by this time, the quarian no logner need to wear masks.

The thread title (gaylien) made me think this was going to be a request for a species that was an all male version of the Asari. I'm relieved that my first impression was wrong. Reproduction is kinda important...

 

Anyway, I think the devs should give the gay players an alien LI this time around since there were none in the Shepard trilogy. A male Quarian would probably make the most sense.

 

This might be an unpopular opinion among some here, but I think Bioware should limit the LIs to humans or near-human species, regardless of gender preference.
