It's just the tone of the overall romance if anything, Iron Bull has a scene with the necklace, but that doesn't outweight the number of joking and aggressive scenes that make the relationship not very romantic. Krogan by nature is violence, I don't think it should be appropriate to written them like a housecat just for a romance. It's one of their natures as a race. Watering it down wouldn't make the Krogan Krogan anymore but a human with a Krogan's body.
Having a Salarian squad member again would be cool, I just want a squad that's more culturally mixed.
As long as it's not the gay romance option. I would prefer more of a masculine feel to the gay options after options like Dorian and Zevran. ME3 gives better representation of gay characters overall compared to DAI, despite having only one game with gay characters, hell, Fallout 4 gives better gay LIs despite not having any gay characters.
They have new species in Andromeda, possibly not all your squad mates will be from the Milky Way as time goes on. Who's to say there won't be an all male species capable of interbreeding like the asari? Or a species with 3 or 4 different genders, or some species with no gender? I mean, the universe doesn't have to have only 2 genders to breed, especially from alien backgrounds.

I don't think a Krogan LI is possible for either sex (especially gay though) because there's no way to avoid the whole "sex with them is going to make you explode" thing, which is going to turn it into a huge joke. They already had that awkward size issue with Iron Bull and barely skirted past it, and you'd never avoid it with a Krogran no matter how sweet and nice the romance was.
I don't want any donkeyhung alien LIs again because of that, it's just not worth having the romance arc turned a huge joke for a schlong you won't even get to see.

Except, like with Qunari, there's absolutely no information out there about Krogan penis size. Again, I point you to the gorilla. The largest primate -- the smallest penis of all of the apes. Well, if there's a way to bring up the size of their penis or just show the thing it's fine. But the problem is if you don't, seeing as everybody is just a bunch of size queens at heart, everyone is just going to assume they're hung like Godzilla.

I don't mind 'queen'. As long as everyone's in on the joke. Size queens are definitely in on the joke. I used to have a very strong visceral reaction when someone would refer to me by a feminine descriptor. Likely, it was internalized homophobia. I've gone beyond that. One of my employees actually refers to me as "Gurl" regularly and I'm cool with it because she's cool and it's all good. Fifteen years ago? I'd have chewed her out for that. Now I just shoot her a text or email with a gay themed gif and it's all good.
Funnily enough, I do still cringe at "queer", though. I'm a 'gay of a certain age' and that one just hits too many really tender nerve-endings that are still raw. But things like "queen" and "girl" and whatnot? Meh. Rolls off my back, as long as it's someone who's LGBT or an ally.
