What? wait seriously?
Aren't you confusing GAY representation with PREFERENCE representation? Seems to me that if Me only has one option for a M/M romance but DAI has two which are very different The Iron Bull and Dorian, wouldn't they have just by definition be a greater amount of "GAY" representation than ME? And lets not just exclude The Iron Bull because he is Pan not gay because Kaidan is Bi he'll romance femshep or maleshep. So HOW exactly is ME more representative of gay characters than DA:I?
I get how ME could be more representative of your PERSONAL preference in a Male counterpart but that is actually separate from gay representation.
You think that people have problem with Iron Bull because he's not gay? lol, you're making an awful lot of assumption there. Dorian is basically a stereotype type and Iron Bull is once again a bisexual character that will screw anything that move. I'm not confusing gay representation with preference representation. Both characters Kaidan and Cortez's sexuality is not a part of who they are. They don't make a big deal out of it. For Dorian, in order to do a story lesson about acceptance, the writer introduces a homophobic setting into the world where gays once again feeling unaccepted not only in real life but also in video games. On top of that, he's still hiding his sexuality and afraid to say it out loud in Trespass. Dorian himself also has the sassy gay BFF stereotype with Vivienne and talk about fashion and things like that. I want gay to just be normal and be a part of the gay instead of it being used to make a statement. This is why Cortez, despite being an NPC is better than Dorian. His sexuality is totally normal in the world. When Shepard finds out about his dead husband, there wasn't any surprises, it was accepted as normal. Iron Bull is basically fall into yet another bisexual that will screws anything that move, that happens very so often in DA, not only that, but most of his talk are only about women. It's like he only likes women with exceptions. He shares this with Kaidan, so they both need to improve on that. What separate Iron Bull and Kaidan is that Iron Bull's relationship is basically a forced BDSM, you either accept it or the relationship is over, the entire "he knows what you need better than yourself" is just a bit irritating, but what I dislike the most about him would be that the relationship is being treated like a joke. You had sex with him the first time and you can't walk for a day, the second time basically has everyone walking in on you having sex, getting married, unlike any other people like Cassandra doesn't have any cutscene, basically, just like whatever. He lacks any romantic aspects with his romance. Kaidan, on the other hand, is very romantic. This is something gay romance in Bioware generally lacks, the romance factor. That is why ME3 has better representations, the relationship is not based on stereotype, they are not making any statement, gay relationships are being treated the same as any other relationship instead of something abnormal and should be ashamed of. Gay people don't want to be treated horribly in life and then escape to the fantasy world just to be treated horribly again by NPCs.
