I'll be honest, and I've mentioned this in the thread I made concerning Andromeda, but in general I just think this kind of romance does not fit. I can't even picture Kaidan as homosexual, and the romance itself just plain feels wrong, and makes me feel uncomfortable, as well as women I knew who liked the character a lot. It just doesn't feel right in the setting or for that character period.

I want Tyler Hoechlin as my gaylien LI for MEA. Just give him purple eyes or something.

Maybe Bioware should roll a few of the separate fan requests into a single character. A gay KISA Quarian, maybe?

Spoiler

I actually quite like the idea of a gay Quarian companion.

This is my compromised best case scenario. I doubt they'd give us a turian or krogan so out of drell or quarian, I'd go for quarian. And a Reegar-esque one would be great.

But, if I'm being honest with myself, I bet that IF we get two options in this game, they will both be humans.

I don't want to play as femShep, I don't identify as femShep. I could also play as female to romance Garrus, but I prefer to roleplay characters to fit me.

And Cortez still has a lot more speech checks than anyone. Maybe it doesn't matter to you since you have no stake in this, but it's important to others who gay characters are actually being treated, so you can be dismissive all you want, but the way the gay characters being treated compared to other characters are just terrible. No reasons for scenes to be shorter, NPC characters could also be a way so that they don't have gay characters to be companions/

Romance is an optional part, but I want to participate in the romance part. Maybe they should have a game not to have any option to straight women, but options available to everyone else, that wouldn't be a good feeling. You could play roleplay as straight, but that you still would miss out on the romance content everyone can engage in. If it's not that important, no one would have complain about the inequality between straight male Shep and straight female Shep.

I don't identify as the supreme lord of love magnet BroShep or was I interested in playing someone who are more related to my brick wall than a person but I have played him to romance Liara, Jack and Cortez. I don't need to have a penis to play a romance with female LIs as a heterosexual PC or experience m/m romance. If you had played other romances, you should be aware that everyone don't get the best treatment either unless they're romancing Liara. Everyone get short several minutes cameos with their LIs and you get to interact with unromanced Liara more time than everyone else.

Was straight FemShep get the better part of the romance in the trilogy? Kaidan accused her of betraying him and she just watch him walk away like an idiot. She got dumped by Jacob because he impregnated another woman, she watched Thane running straight toward a sword in front of her and the only ONE drama-free straight romance available for her was in a form of a glorified turian BFF with man child complex. And her female LIs? Kelly the airhead Cerberus spy, Battletits Diana Allers and Specialist "an actual shower!" Traynor who forget that she visited the cabin the first time round. Oh, let us not forget the not-female pansexual Asari; overly-attached Liara, Sha'ira the consort, death by sex Morinth and the DLC hint of 'romance'; Aria and Samara. I have romanced several of them and frankly only Traynor is the true lesbian romance among these "I kissed a girl and I like it" bunch and she have even less scenes than Cortez and Kaidan.

Was Mass Effect universe supposedly a progressive universe? Despite so many women in places of power and many of them are intellectuals, women and female-shaped aliens in the future still have to jiggle their títties and buttocks for men in nightclubs. And FemShep was sexually harassed four times in the trilogy. So it is offensive for BroShep to get dialogue choices like "I'm eye candy too" and "Waiting for the right man." that simply ruins the entirety of Cortez romance because it wasn't subtle enough and reminds you of real life but actual representation of sexism against women is normal and is equality?

You know, it is okay to complain and rant to want more. Bioware do appreciate these feedbacks (considering the mods haven't close this yet) and frankly I do understand that some of you have very specific preferences and exceptions and are unsatisfied with what was available and are possessive when you need to share your choice of love interest. But fact is, none of the romances in Mass Effect are perfect. Even Liara was heavily rewritten to cater to the whims of her fans and one of them happens to hold the power in the franchise. But was it necessary to keep on hating on FemShep because she have additional scenes in her three years old relationship with her secret boyfriend. It wasn't her fault that the lead writers decide on two straight and one pansexual alien romance in ME1. Nor was it Meer's fault to be caught unaware of that people want his character to be bisexual or how they found out that he did record Hale's line with Kaidan. It wasn't even Sbarge fault to portray Kaidan as a straight guy until the third game. It was obvious that neither of these two character were created to be bisexual and that the implementation was shoddy. Now with the delay of MEA to Q1 2017, maybe they'll do better in the next game.

I didn't mean anything antagonistic when I said it was a mod, it's just my perception. I never imagined it would be such a bother, because I assumed it would just be water off a duck's back for anyone who disagreed with me and no different than people saying things like "Kaidan is so boring" or "I always choose Ash loool". It isn't as though me saying it's pretty much a mod hurts gay romancers, or their ability to love Kaidan, and I'd figured they either wouldn't care or would just post and disagree with me. Hell, people use the bi Cullen and boyboy Alistair mods, and still enjoy their canons despite of the fact they're using "mods", and I doubt those romancers care if people mention they're using mods or even what they think, frankly.

I apologize if any of my comments seemed hostile toward you though, because they weren't supposed to be. - I wasn't sure if that's something you were getting at, but I wanted to put the first foot forward and say it now just in case.

I never saw your comments as antagonistic or hostile, I was just confused by some of them, and too stupid to understand it was an opinion you were merely expressing and not an outright statement of fact. I should be the one to apologize for having misread and misinterpreting your comments.

You and aoibhealfae are champions and fans of the wonderfully written and developed Kaidan and FemShep romance, I am a champion and fan of the smaller, edited, and not as well developed but appreciated and satisfying Kaidan and BroShep romance! Either way, I think its fair to agree that we are all champions of Kaidan Alenko!  :D

Also, who is the woman in this gif here? I've seen you use other gifs of her in other posts, and think her skill at shade throwing are fabulous!

And thank you for introducing me to Tyler Hoechlin. Not knowing who he was before, or who this fabulous woman is, makes me feel so uneducated lol!

I...*lol*...read that Mike Laidlaw romance announcement thread that came out prior to DA:I's release (phew, the butthurt).

Allen Schumacher stated that BioWare wants to make sure everyone (every orientation) get's at least 2 romance options from now on. He works on ME:A, so perhaps this philosophy carries over.

He also mentioned about that those players staring the series at ME3 (non-import/non-overpriced dlc...cuz it's the best place to start, duh), the straight women only had Kaidan as an option whereas everyone else had 2 (Liara/Ashley, Liara/Traynor, Kaidan/Cortez), thus the 4 options allotted to straight women in DA:I, an admitted "we're sorry" from BioWare, basically.

So I think everyone will get two options, at least two. Allen said two at least.

Anywho, on topic, I'd also like a krogan romance. Otherwise - someone from the new races we haven't met yet.

It's all good! Just glad we got it sorted. :)

Yes, no matter what it always makes me happy to see fellow Kaidan lovers. ❤

That woman is Alaina Huffman, and that character is Abaddon from Supernatural.

Glad you like Tyler, he's a sooo... ◕‿◕

There is nothing I find appealing about Bartarian. They look like gorilla crosses with spider to me. They also didn't get a lot of focus out of the main alien races, so I don't care enough about them to really comment. Still, a Turian would be my first pick followed by quarian.

For me personally, the fact that he was once attracted to a female student that was there for him during an extremely stressful period during his life means that he clearly could never develop any feelings for a man. Ever.

Eh, I could dig a batarian companion romance depending on the personality of the batarian in question. I'd actually rather like a batarian companion as it could be interesting to get more insight to their culture and society even if it is after its fall.

That's not really how it works.  Bisexual men are attracted to both men and women.  So just because he showed attraction to a woman in high school doesn't mean that he won't develop feelings for a man later in life.  Especially given that you are using the idea of 'an extremely stressful period of his life' as the qualifier.  I would think that the Reaper invasion combined with his near death experience on Mars would constitute 'an extremely stressful period of his life' as well.  In fact, way more so than just being an angsty teenager.  If anything his feelings for Shepard would be stronger because of that bond, no?

While I agree with most with the exception of the angsty teenager bit, I think Eckswhyzed meant their comment jokingly but I may be mistaken.

Don't be surprised, I read crazier stuff here about sexuality, made by people who are 100% serious. BSN is like the perfect example of Poe's Law.

Yep.  This is exactly why I thought this was a serious statement.  In fact, I'm pretty sure I've read that exact same idea without the sarcasm here before.

Except what you describe is completely OOC for Kaidan, though.

So yeah, still a straight character with a weird, tacked on playersexual M/M romance they included in order to appear progressive and placate fans.

I'm probably the only one, but I'm down for a male Krogan or Turian that'd be down for a swordfight... Some rustling in the space-hay~ Krogan in particular, they're extremely masculine and dominant, and physically powerful. They've also got broad features *shrug*

I kinda like the battle buttbuddy approach when it comes to a game with a heavy focus on combat, bonding through hardship?

Kaidan, in ME2, tells Shepard that losing him was like losing a limb. All the camera shots of them talking in ME1 somehow managed to have more sexual tension than actual porn (the lighting, the slow walk, the turn, the staredown - seriously, those two could just have started ripping their shirts off and it would have seemed more natural than their talking). I don't know what game you've played, but Kaiden being into Shepard is not out of character.
