Basically this. I never understood how you could apply LGB standards to a completely different species. By definition you'll literally never be the same sex because none of your junk will ever match. Its hard to imagine aliens could base attraction on anything other than personality and maybe aesthetic attraction, but drawing the line at supposed gender parallels seems ridiculous at a practical level.
I guess it's just ended up being about Kaidan who is a way safer option than Garrus, those who have problems with him in the new game could avoid recruit him and most of the people killed him off and he's one of the least popular character. If they make Garrus who most people save, and popular to everyone bi, there would be so much backlash about their "bro" is now "forcing" them into a relationship. Seriously, Dorian doesn't even hit on the players, and I saw a bunch of people talk about how Dorian keeps hitting on them. I love Kaidan, and I'm happy with the option, but between Kaidan and Garrus, Kaidan would be a way safer option to implement since most people kill him. Between saving a guy and a girl, most people would tend to choose to save a girl, so he's dead in most of people's gameplay.
It just doesn't make sense that alien races that don't find humans attractive and have different aesthetic sense and whatnot would stop at gender, when the way the humans look wouldn't make a difference to them. This series is targeted to straight male gamers (It's not a bad thing if that's what they aimed for, since it's all about sales at the end of the day, just say it before anyone jumps at my throat and yell SJW). The Asari race, male Shep gets the default model face, have the most LIs, all of their LIs can stay alive, using bisexual females aiming at straight guys, Jack who slept with men and women before but only available to men, no gay males until many people complained, the subpar effort with bi Kaidan which is basically an inferior version from femShep. It's interesting how gay Kaidan is being used in almost every video where EA wanted to show gay relationships in their game when it's basically just an inferior femShep. It would make more sense to use Steve when at least they make actual content for maleShep as opposed to cutting out contents from a reskin femShep.
Anyway, even with that being said, I feel like the series is now trying to appeal to a broader range of audience. They use femShep to sign off the game, which I guess is an effort to show that they care about femShep after the backlash from female gamers in regard to how femShep was treated. I'm not gonna judge the next ME game based on the trilogy. I feel like they are becoming more understanding now, and maybe the game will have options that everyone can enjoy. ME is actually one of my favorite series, so I guess I'm more critical toward the game because I actually want the game to success and everyone can enjoy it.
