You mean stereotype into Kung Fu movies or act as weirdo or effeminate like with Kim Jeong and Bobby Lee? Where was the last time Asian guys get the leading roles in a non-kungfu movie? Where they are being viewed as heroic and desirable or in a romantic rom-com? If you want a list: The Last Airbender, Chun-Li, Speedracer, 47 Ronin, 21, Dragon Ball, Ghost in the Shell, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, etc. When a movie which doesn't involve Kung-Fu, they got changed to White. Even Kung-fu, they want to make a movie about Bruce Lee, but they don't want to isolate the audience, so they want to tell the story from the perspective of a White guy learning about Bruce Lee. It's very rare to see Asians in heroic role or getting the girl in the end, the last movie I can name would be Harold and Kumar. 

Don't forget Kung Fu Panda! Voiced by Jack Black! (okay I don't know if animated film count since it's not visual representation)

 

 

 

Really mate, don't you think that's a bit of an overstatement! I assume you are focusing on hollywood which is predominantly an american industry. And even in there I don't feel that all asian roles are being changed to whites. I admit I haven't done a lot of background reading to this issue but even so I can tell you several movies that had asian actors in leading roles. How about Jackie Chan who's had several great flicks in hollywood like rush hour, forbidden kingdom etc. Or Bruce lee who's phenomenal enough and is on the hollywood walk of fame. There are several other great actors like Ken Watanabe, Zang Ziyi, kim jeong etc with good roles to their name.

 

I think using America as the discussion focus is relevant here because AFAIK the States are more ethnically and racially diverse than most Asian countries. If I'm wrong I apologize and let me know. But a big issue in the States right now is how we are becoming more and more diverse but this isn't being reflected in mainstream media. Caucasian people are still the majority, but that majority is shrinking and I think it's going to become a plurality before too long. Yet still 95% of film leads are white. Especially when a film can be set in modern day; a lot of the films you're referencing (Memoirs of a Geisha) are specific to a time and location and would not work if they weren't set in an Asian setting with Asian actors.

 

There's a new Sean Penn film coming out about two white leads who are relief workers for refugees in Africa. It's gotten some bad press already because it seems a bit paternalistic in having white people trying to save the Africans...even though the story is really about the white couple's love story rather than feature any significant roles for Africans.

 

And to my knowledge, Jackie Chan has usually been cast as a comic lead, not a true Hollywood leading man. He's the funny martial arts Asian guy who doesn't speak English well.

 

My test would be: look at a film and its actors. If the characters in that film don't have a specific reason to be a specific race, ethnicity, sexuality, etc etc, who is the actor portraying them? Chances are, it will be a straight white person. Non-white non-straight characters are only portrayed if the role in the film specifically requires this. Otherwise it's going to default to a white person.

- Asari Adept
- Fem Human Sentinel
- Male Human Soldier

I actually hope we'll see a new species and a character of this species who'd be bisexual or gay. Or maybe a Quarian... Yes, a Quarian would be nice. Or an alien who's male but with androgynous features. And a human soldier, who's very bulky and muscular. Or vice versa... I like the possibility to choose between a more feminine and masculine guy.

(Because we've never had a female alien same-sex LI who wasn't an Asari, amd we've never had a male Quarian squadie, I'd like to see new stuff such as this in ME:A in order to get a breeze of fresh air)

Yeah, for a male gaylien I favor Drells and Quarians. Although I woudn't mind a Turian.

But please, not a Salarian (I like them, but not that way, definetly not that way). However I'd love having a non-romanceable Salarian biotic as a squad member.

Since they're potentially gonna have 2 options, one of the options could be a bilien or a gaylien, the other could just be a muggle.

For me the race of the LI is kinda irrelevant. After all my fav Bioware same-sex LI is a non-human (Fenris).

Elves and dwarfs are almost biologically the same as humans so I could understand being physically attracted to them. But something so...alien....as the aliens in ME are too different from humans that I can't headcanon how my PC could physically be attracted to them. I just personally cannot see a character I play being attracted to an alien. Kind of like how some people can't play as the opposite gender.

Protheans went extinct, so I doubt it's a possibility. Still, turians should still be the best option for me. Quarian and drells are ok as well. As long as it's not a Krogan, it's just too aggressive in nature, and I want a romantic relationship in gay romance, it seems to be lacking in video games. Still, I'm really hoping for an entire new alien race, maybe a male only race. It may actually be interesting. If not, maybe they should change up the dynamic with a new alien race. It seems like all the aliens follow the male and female human physiology, females are always smaller with boobs while males are bigger. Has nothing to do with sexism, but it's just seen boring, like it would be interesting if the females are bigger and more dominant and aggressive.

Well,I've already modded my save file using gibbed to allow my MaleShep romance Garrus,but I actually think that would be nice to see Bioware allowing this without having to mod the game manually.

Sadly with mod is weird I saw videos, I think, I want it without mods.
