I'm not opposed to a drell LI - there's a LOT to the drell that I think could be explored and wasn't, I think it could be interesting. But I think the fun exploration would be back in the Milky Way, among their people, so I wouldn't call one a 'top tier' in terms of what I'm looking for. (I still stand by 'bi quarian guy'.)

But I do think that new aliens as romances should wait until successive games - one of my big problems with the alien LIs in the trilogy is that they started out as walking codex entries on their species, they don't get to show off much character at the time because they need to explain the vital details of their species to the player. So let us get used to any new aliens, and THEN get a member of their species who's romanceable.

The only alien romance option should be with Rachni. So your char would mate with a Rachni and then be eaten up by it after mating. GAME OVER.  :D

But seriously, this alien romance stuff is f***ing weird. Bioware shouldn't spend resources on awkward and disgusting stuff like that.

If you want a Rachni LI be my guest, but here we are discussing ANTROPOMORPHIC alien same-sex LIs.

Yes, i get it. It is all about this furry stuff that some people seem to enjoy, i.e. humans having sex with wolfmen, dogmen, sheepmen, etc. Just in the case of Mass Effect these creature are alien-like, so lizardmen, scaly catmen, blue female-like hermaphrodites with tentacle dreads and so on.

Just because asari are monogendered, doesn't mean that they 'don't count' in a s/s relationship. They are 'mono' gendered -- as in 'one' gender -- as in female. Not 'agendered' or 'no' gender. So an asari who is in a relationship with another female is in a s/s relationship. And we have several examples of this.

But even if you do choose to omit asari, there are still Nyreen and Gavorn as examples of aliens who are in s/s relationships. And there's the scene where Mordin thinks that Shep is hitting on him and he turns him down.

With regard to the species of a gay alien LI -- I am going to go back on record and say 'anything BUT a drell please!' My vote goes to quarian or turian for either gender.

What's wrong with drell?

I'm sure those threads are going to be made one day of these, but here we want only human-like aliens.

Pretty much all scifi has relationships between humans and aliens. Star Trek, Doctor Who, Marvel, DC etc. So I'm surprised that you and some others aren't used to it by now.

Anyway, I'd rather not derail this thread (what happened in the Mae one was so surreal and cringe worthy...).

I see some don't like Drell, I suppose it's 'cause their cuasi lizard-like appearance.

So, what about this LI list (all bi):

- Male human Soldier

- Female human Infiltrator

- Asari Vanguard

- Male Quarian Sentinel

Well the thing with aliens is that there will be always someone who doesn't like that particular alien race and would wish another. I'm guessing that Turian might be safest bet as alien LI even if they look even less like humans.

On the options, I guess Asari vanguard would be most interesting to me depending on personality. Someone like Tela Vasir would be nice. Military, kickass, opposite of Liara for a change. Male Quarian could be nice as well, someone like Kal'Regaar. Though Drells are still my number one choice for romance.

Out of all the races, it seems like Turian has the most votes based on this thread and various other forums and discussion, second would be Quarian. Still, if I want a alien romance, I would rather for them to be a Turian, someone that looks like an alien rather than humans in a suit. I would have prefer an alien look instead of some fantasy elf made from photoshop. They kinda ruined Quarian a bit for me. I don't mind drells, but I just prefer turian much better. I'm just fascinating with turian culture and its military focus.

My hope sincerely, is that the game will contemplate gay romance on a low and minimal level. Alien or not.

I m so much for love between a man and a woman.

As the turians are basically my favorite race in the Mass Effect universe in large part due to their culture, I'd be ecstatic to see one as a romanceable companion though I would like for Bioware to incorporate the alien culture into the romance.

This is because a major part of my interest in alien romances is seeing explored the cultural differences there might be including in courting. I felt like the alien aspect of the romance was present to a noticeable degree in Mass Effect 2 but pretty much disappeared in Mass Effect 3 where the alien romances became dominanted by the human aspect.

An example is the headbump between Garrus and Shepard in Mass Effect 2; I genuinely thought it was meant as an replacement for kissing. I considered it to be very adorable and I thought it made a good amount of sense given the physiological difference between humans and turians.

As I am very fond of the drell design and would like to see them further explored including in culture, I would be very interested in one as romanceable companion or simply as a companion. I think the drell design may be my favorite alien design in the Mass Effect universe and considered how fond I am of the alien designs, that is saying something.

I'll be honest and admit that I would not be terribly interested in an asari as an romanceable companion but that is purely me, of course, and I find it very difficult to believe that there will not be one in Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Personally, I find the asari to be the least interesting races in the Mass Effect universe but oddly enough, I am not entirely sure why that is.

Asari are basically just women with a funny hat and lack of blood flow. Their race is also a very generic fantasy society like the Thalmor. They're basically space high elves.

I would be more interested in Turian or Quarian, hopefully, with a redesign.

I'm like half asleep right now but if we're talking tv shows I feel like I have to point out Steven Yeun as Glenn Rhee in the Walking Dead, 2nd main male character since the start of the show. I think his character definitely falls into the category of 'heroic and desirable'.

For the record he just got the leading role in a non-Kung-Fu movie, terrible as it the synopsis sounds.

I definetly wouldn't say no to a Turian Vang, but he must be different from Garrus, I'd like him to have a personality like Fenris.

I think perhaps the female alien LI shouldn't be an Asari, for a change.

So let's start over:

- Male human Soldier

- Female human Infiltrator

- Male Turian Vanguard

- Female Drell Sentinel
